    Default Life is a song

Tell me the song that sums up you, your life and/or state of mind right now.
It doesn't have to be your favourite song, or by your favourite band, it just has to say something about you.

Link it from youtube or myspace or some other site if you can.

Right now, i'm Janis Joplin's "Piece of My Heart" http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=85o579htuYU

I'd say a combination of All Good Things (Cone to an End) by Nelly Furtardo, Holding Back the Years by Simply Red and Call of the Wild by Midge Ure sums me up well. Unforgiven Part 2 fits for me as well.

Then there are some of the important people in my life, in which this song seems to fit so well.

At times when I consider the course of my life, this song always manages to creep into my mind. (Video is cut just short of its proper end. )

Ah, yes. The great desire to simple escape it all is embodied in this one. (Wow, I'd forgotten how 80's that video is. )

Heh...What was once my theme song, and seems to remain so: I Need a Woman. (Another video cut short. )

When working my fictional blog, this tune tends to run through my head.

    The height of romance.

Finally, when a little fun is needed, I can always have a Zombie Jamboree.

This is just a small tatse of the soundtrack of my life, and no ONE song represents me.
    "Goodnight, Rosebud."

Hmm. That'd be a few songs mixed together over a light simmer.

    "Butterflies & Hurricanes"
    "Message In A Bottle"
    "Secret Journey"
    "King Of Pain"
    "Limelight"
    "Distant Early Warning"
"If I Ever Lose My Faith In You"
    "Seven Days"
    "Shape Of My Heart"

Yeah, I just went through my winamp library, and chose the ones that I think suit me.

    Quite a few songs actually.

I'd say Willow Farm(part of Supper's Ready, by Genesis) sums me up at the moment. Although Total Eclipse of the Heart, by Bonnie Tyler does as well.

Mm. Definitely Total Eclipse of the Heart now. The hyperness has worn off.

Whenever her "head is in a maze," the actress in that video turns to the easy things in life: "Sex and cheese. The two are connected." This according to her wikipedia page

So, what does it say about me that when I first saw the title of this thread I thought of this?

Eh, anyway, to the actual premise of the thread...

Bleh, I'll just submit a sonnet + extra couplet (as songs are merely poetry put to music ) I wrote about a year ago when I was piecing my life back together from my own stupidity:

    Spoiler
    Show

With despair, fear, unease and dread,

Slowly, down the path, we tread.

Present ignored, we see the future not,

While down the path, steadily, we trot.

    So easily we trailed our forebears’ codes;

Stifiling those that challenged total uniformity.

Even if they were correct, our minds were closed,

And our stance rigid, they too succumbed to conformity.

Perhaps we were scared of their thoughts unprecedented,

Which held that, in the end, our crumbling society, we did feed.

No, such thoughts would danger our society contented,

The downward spiral of life, independent of our own misdeeds.

Such amazingly good impact we might have achieved,

If only, in bravery, our ancestors did not push conformity.

But, too long have we stifled learning and pursued archaic laws,

So, hands self-tied, we shall forevermore go down the path without pause.

The entire idea of it is the fact that humanity (and definately myself) feel the need to often blame problems on others, and absolve their own accountability for the shape their life/country/whatever is in, instead of standing up. And I feel this is too often an accurate depiction of my life.

    Also:

The increasing size of each line down the sonnet is intentional, as it is supposed to parallel the growing picture in the reader's mind... but what do I know about English, I'm an engineer-in-training

And we all play a part.
    And when the music starts,
    We open up our hearts

It’s all right if some things come out wrong.
    We’ll sing a happy song
    And you can sing along.

    Where’s there’s life,

Hate to break it to you, but that's not a sonnet. By definition a sonnet has 14 lines--yours has 16. The poetry gods will probably forgive you.

    Anyway,

Probably what best fits me at the moment is Disorder by Joy Division (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QrzGpVOPcTI). Though I've been mostly listening to The Beatles' Revolver album and the first two Velvet Underground albums (minus songs featuring Nico).

2 songs I forgot to mention earlier are Where You Want To Be by Darren Hayes and the Sonic Adventure 1 version of It Doesn't Matter by Crush 40. Ignoring the title, I Do9n't Care by Savage Garden works well for me as well. Placebo's version of Running Up That Hill works for me as well.
