You hear a mumbling noise from the upper balcony. It sounds like someone talking, though you can't make out the words.

I've been using the wrong die to roll my longsword, so I fixed it this time. I'm not just randomly upping it.

Sae'lesh's brow furrows as he discerns an odd noise over the din of battle. He calls to his companions, "There's some odd... sounds almost like mumbling... coming from the balcony. I can't make it out, but it might be someone casting a spell. Be on your guard."

Halavan Turgoth

"Well, considering that I have no desire to waste my most powerful spells on such rabble," he airily sends a tiny glob of acid at one of the skeletons with a quick gesture, "I'll just take cover over in that nicely shaded corner."

The wizard scampers over to one of the corners behind the door.

Firing off an Acid Splash at the leftmost skeleton, and then ducking over to O12, which should keep me away from the itchy triggers of the two skeletons to the right.

Patient to a fault, Hierot repeats his previous invocation, his voice carrying traces of a deeper, rumbling bass this time.

Vidra swings at the final zombie. Her sword digs into its chest and she feels something give as the creature collapses lifeless to the ground.

Halavan moves off to the side and fires a small glob of acid at one of the skeletons. It catches the creature in the chest and its exposed ribs hiss and crack as the acid burns into them.

Mederen moves up next to the door, out of sight of the archers above.

Heirot's voice rumbles and the crossbow the goblin skeleton caries cracks and splinters.

OOC: Zombies are all dead. Sae'lesh gets an action now.

After having made his warning, Sae'lesh stashes his bow and draws his longsword. Deciding against climbing the wall with all his equipment -- and not daring reach the balcony without it -- he turns to quickly survey his companions. His protection instinct kicks in and he moves stand by Mederen and Heirot, lest anything should emerge from the door...

Sae'lesh moves up next to the door and draws his sword, ready to counter danger.

The skeletons turn and push through the webs, disappearing into the door and into the building out of sight. All except one goblin skeleton, which still struggles uselessly against the hampering webs.

Hierot exhales softly as the enemies move out of sight. Though intent upon the destruction of the undead, the warlock thought it more prudent to tend to his injured comrades while he had a chance.

"Not-" for the second time that week, Hierot nearly jumps at the sound of his own voice, still amplified by the remnants of his last invocation. "Not a bad fight," he continues, his voice much smaller than before. He then turns to Vidra and Mederen.

"May I?" Hierot asks, gesturing as he procures a wand from his belt pocket.

If Vidra and Mederen don't mind (yes, yes, I know, but it's always better to be polite ) Hierot will take 10 on a couple UMD checks to heal them with his Wand of Cure Light Wounds.

If either roll heals for 3 damage or less, may I assume that Hierot notices that their wounds are not entirely closed? If so, he heals again.

Sae'lesh looks at his companions. As Heirot begins dispensing the healing and it becomes apparent that the courtyard is secure, he makes a quick round of the perimeter, looking for any doors or other entrances they may not have spotted earlier.

Just making a full circle with a take 10 spot/search (so 21 and 12, respectively). Also, an elf's auto-search for secret doors, not that I expect to find any...

Mederen turns to face Hierot. "Thanks. Those claws hurt... Sorry about my general ineffectiveness in combat. Damn undead resist my more useful abilities..." He glances up at the balcony. "I can, however, get up there and try and subdue the mage before he can recover..."

Hierot returns Mederen's thanks with a nod as he begins to patch his own wounds.

"I can't really fault you for that. It has been awhile since I've fought as well. I'm still... getting used to my capabilities. I am nervous about sending one man to finish off the caster. If you are confident, however, I have no objections."

Micheal steps through the door after the rest of you. "We need to bring word of this back to the mayor. It could be more dangerous than we can handle."

Sae'lesh doesn't find anything notable as he searches around the perimeter of the courtyard.

Vidra makes a gracious nod to Heirot as thanks for the healing. She is also very thankful that the battle ended; undead were among the most unpleasant things to face, in her opinion. It was nice to see that her companions knew how to handle a fight, though. She wipes her blade on her pack (for lack of better material) and goes outside to see if Petra is still waiting out there.

Sae'lesh turns to Michael after finishing his rounds. "That might not be a bad idea, but I'm not certain. On the one hand, I'm feeling rather confident after this battle, and it's a long way back to town.

"But on the other hand, some of our party may need rest before continuing, and I don't feel like camping in the courtyard here. On top of that, the mayor may be able to shed additional light on the situation with this news, and by the looks of the place there is no need for haste..."

He turns to the rest of his companions. "What do you think?"

Halavan Turgoth

"Ah, unscathed as always," Halavan stretches his fingers languidly, "Well, one of you set fire to the rest of that web, I don't want to waste any more spells than I already have, and you warlock," he points at Heirot and then to the struggling goblin skeleton, "Blast that skeleton away before it breaks free and starts shooting again."

Hearing Micheal advocate returning to the town Halavan shrugs.

"Fine, if you want to be a coward about this then by all means, run back to the mayor and tell her how dangerous it was after we destroyed a half-dozen undead and a caster without too much harm. Tell her that it's very scary and dark, that you'd rather waste days of travel to tell her the bare basics of what happened here than assist us, in whatever minor capacity that you are actually able to do, in uncovering more. I'm sure that she'd love that!"

"Let's kill or capture the elf, not that I really want to hear him spout doom at us again, and then continue along into the monastery. First though, let's see what we can find out here."

Halavan starts moving from body to body looking for anything he can loot, and for whether or not they are all monks.

Hierot abruptly strides over to Halavan and kneels down so as to be face to face. As the warlock speaks, his voice is flat and his approach blunt- not intimidating, but deadly serious.

"I'm going to be very up front with you about this Halavan; I will tolerate and perhaps enjoy your verbal barbs and your sarcasm, but do not presume to give me orders. As a former cultist I've got more authority issues than a king has gold pieces, so if you draw any lines at all in regards to your behavior, let this be one of them."

Vidra moves outside and finds that Petra is still waiting for her nearby, grazing lightly.

The people checking the doors find that they've been locked up.

Micheal shakes his head at Halavan's comments. "I am no coward. Do you take any act of caution as fear? There could be more here than you know. How was this entire monestary overrun and destroyed? Assuming the goblins did it, where are they now? Why didn't they stay? There are too many unanswered questions right now. I'll stay if you insist, but I think we at least need to be ready."

Halavan moves around the corpses. Most of them are goblinoid, carrying little more than their armour, weapons and the occasional copper piece. The only humans in the group are the two zombified ones you fought, who carry no weapons or armour, and a single armoured one in the off to the side. He wears the symbol of Heironeous, and the body appears to be freasher than most of the others. Exactly how much you can't tell.

The skeleton on the balcony continues to struggle uselessly.

Sae'lesh looks at the struggling skeleton with disgust. He draws his bow and carefully aims to hit the abomination's skull, hoping to finish it off.

I recognize that my arrows probably won't do much damage to a skeleton, but I'm not comfortable letting it sit around up there. I'm attempting a "called shot" in whatever manner you want to house rule it (including "not available"). I'll just roll normal to-hit and damage, you can apply modifiers and effects as you see fit...

Sae'lesh aims carefully and punches an arrow through the skeleton's skull. The undead refuses to fall down though, so the ranger punches one, then another arrow through it. The creature's skull is shattered by the third arrow, and it finally falls down. I just had automatic hits, and rolled damage for it normally. Three arrows total to destroy it.

Sae'lesh finds something odd about the bodies as he looks them over. Most of them appear do be about two weeks old, while the human body in the corner only seems to be two or three days. The zombies appear to be mostly whole, suggesting that being animated slowed the docomposition proccess. They look only a day or two old.

Halavan Turgoth

Halavan merely smirks at Heirot as the man makes his threat.

"Authority? Hmm, let me think... who here is part of the city guard," he taps his chin and then snaps his fingers, "Oh wait, it's me! That would make me a dully recognized agent of the law in the city and the closest in the chain of command to the mayor. Wait! That's who we're in the employ of right now, the mayor! Just extend that line of reasoning and it's clear that I am the one with true authority here," he throws up his hands in exasperation, "What, did you expect me to say please and thank you whenever I make a reasonable suggestion? If I ever have cause to order you around I will use that exact word to do so. Until then we'll have to delay our hostilities and get searching."

Halavan starts moving towards the door but then pauses and rolls his eyes at Heirot.

"If you would please, pretty please, deign to come into this building with me? Notice how I'm not ordering?"
