Re: The Ruined Gate... (A short DND game)
Spoiler
Hopefully not. It just started. Maybe something came up in the DM's life. It happens...Sadly most games seem to die before they ever start around here lately...

Re: The Ruined Gate... (A short DND game)
(been kinda busy end of last week...but could continue)
A wave of attacks by the squires downs the last of the Orc's. The chieftain, alone and wounded by Graven's well placed strike decides to return the favour, stepping in and swinging his axe furiously at the human. Soon after orc blood on the street mixes with that of Graven as a well placed strike pierces his armor and cleaving a gash in his torso.
SpoilerGraven suffers 17 damage from the Chieftains axe.
(chieftain suffered 8 damage so far...he apears only lightly injured)

Re: The Ruined Gate... (A short DND game)
(pulse being found, happy to see there is still interest...so I'll send a PM to all and announce this show back on the road!)
The battle draws on
Danu sinks his fangs into the Chieftains legs. The dogs extra weight on the orc's leg gives Saul an opening as his blade stikes the hairy skin of his foe, yet failing to penetrate as if his blade struck wooden armor. Sam had no such problem as she struck a cruel blow to the Orcs neck.
Despite a barage of attacks and several magic missiles impacting the Orc's body his massive form kept swinging the axe furiously and striking Saul (15 damage) though missing Sam, whilst his shield slammed into the dog (15 damage) besides him throwing it of his leg and leaving it uncontious besides him.
In the background a horn blows retreat as the defenders of the barricade fall back towards the central keep, persued by Orcs. It seems that what little hope of turning back the young squires might have had disapears with them as some of the Orc's at the barricade now seem notice the battle with the chieftain.
SpoilerMeklorIlavator, weapon damage isn't doubled, only the number of dice rolled, I don't want to give high strength character to much of an advantage*. (note:does not aply to special damage like sneak attacks)
*trust me with Orc's with high strength being the primary enemies you really wouldn't want that...
(chieftain suffered 41 damage total, he is moderately injured)
Some of the Orc's at the barricade are still far away, but will probably start moving towards the party to aid the chieftain.Last edited by Wizard of the Coat; 2008-11-12 at 09:12 AM.

Re: The Ruined Gate... (A short DND game)
Graven HP 19/36 AC 18
Graven staggers under the force of the chieftain's blow before straightening. He glances over his shoulder at the sound of the horn, then turns back towards the others. "Time to go my friends. This party is about to get far too crowded." He swings once more at the orc chieftain.
Spoiler

Saul HP:24/39 AC:17
Danu HP:-2/13
Danu! Damn You! Saul backs off and swings his glaive again, ignoring Graven's words in his anger.
Spoiler
The +8 is because I subtracted 2 from my attack and added it to my damage through power attack, and because I'm wielding my weapon in 2 hands I add double to my damage. Also, remember I'm 5ft away from the orc, so he has to move to get to me.
5 foot step away from the orc and then attack again.

Damage:(2d10+8)[18]
Danu attempts to stabilize: (1d100)[42], if its between 1 and 10 he succeeds.

Re: The Ruined Gate... (A short DND game)
Spoiler@MeklorIlavator: Allright, that's fine, just make sure you state so I don't forget.
Strikes by Saul and Graven are easily blocked by the Orc. And the uttering of the word merely provokes laughing from the Orc as Marie realises the magic is not powerfull enough to affect such a strong soul. The Chieftain calls out to the Orc's that are watching the fight from the barricades in the distance...
"COME HERE YOU MAGGOTS! YOU LET THESE HUMANS SLIP THROUGH"
Clearly his words pull weight as they surge towards the small band of squires.
SpoilerThe orcs will not arrive for a few more rounds, but they are hasting towards the battle.
Note there are a few people that can still take actions this round, however in te interest of keeping up the pace I'm going to allow everyone to get their next turns worth of actions in awell so state actions for two turns if you haven't acted yet.The Chieftain will take his attacks after the last few party members as usual.

Re: The Ruined Gate... (A short DND game)
Wit as sharp as steel
Though hardly enough to bring more then a chuckle to most men that are fighting for their life the halflings jests seem to have great effect upon the Chieftain. Dropping his axe and falling to his knees he is enwrapped in laughter and soon rolls around on the ground reciting parts of the joke many times over.
The aproaching Orcs can hear his laughter and are stopped in their tracks obviously wondering what to do. In their confusion they seem to have forgotten that they were to safe their boss from the humans he was fighting.

Saul HP:24/39 AC:17
At Maries touch, Saul looks around, seeing the orcs, and nods to her. He turns to go, pausing as he looks on Danu's body. He draws a wand from his belt pouch and touched it to Danu's wound.
"Parvus Rememdium"
A small light from the wand reaches out to the dog, and Danu shakily gets back to his feet.

Re: The Ruined Gate... (A short DND game)
Orcish humor
Complaining that marie's missiles 'tickeled' the chieftain continues to roll about and laugh. Still the bard knows he won't be down forever and Orc's are not known for their love of jesters.
Looking about Saul and Marie see a small alleyway with plenty of open doors and other alleys deeper down just nearby. It's devoid of Orc's, though with the little light present it's hard to tell if something would be lurking behind one of the barrels, crates or other debris that litters the small corridor.Last edited by Wizard of the Coat; 2008-11-19 at 12:13 PM.

Re: The Ruined Gate... (A short DND game)
Fly...you fools
As the group moves towards the alley in their strategic retreat none obeserve anything that might be lurking in the shadows, other then perhaps a few rats. It seems safe to them, or at least far less dangerous then the Orcs, whom would not be the sort to skulk about in alleyways once battle commenced.
Whilst the groups is hesitating at the alley's entrance the Orc's seem to be getting back their grip on reality and even the chieftains laughter seems to be losing much of its erstwhile strength.

Re: The Ruined Gate... (A short DND game)
Allthough I'd love to go on I think iot may be time to pull the plug on this campaign. Sorry guys I feel it was my fault and I hope you won't feel too bad about it. Unless some of you specifically PM me to ask it to go on I'll consider it dead. You've been great for the short while that it lasted...
