    Why?

The battle rules were quite clearly posted and any espionage actions of his wouldn't change any of my die rolls.

If my forces have to be 1 army it still doesn't change any of the actions or results.

Unless there are combat rules that you never told us about...

They would. Sabotage actions lead to a penalty on strategy. A penalty on strategy may well lead to Maldiem winning the strategy roll, which could well change everything in this battle.
And yes, there was sabotage. More when I'm home and have access to my notes.

    Primary or Secondary: Cover-up, Strenght
    Tertiary: Frame
It lowers the tactical rating, not the strategic. I assumed that meant that the maximum size of your army was reduced by that much.

And it still doesn't change what I have already rolled.

You probably should have asked then, I never mentioned a strategic rating anywhere else, especially not with army size, where it was called organisation. And I think it was pretty clear from the beginning that espionage was really danerous.

    Open Statement to the Triumvirate

Ah, my friends, now you see what comes of sabre-rattling coupled with an inability to protect your people. The invasion of Akademia will cause much suffering to your people, and so I sincerely wish I could help, but since you refused my offer of protection, my hands are now quite tied in the matter. My only hope is that the cult will eventually come to treat your people better than you have.

Have you spoken yet with the ASUI? Would you have an interest in a broad Northern alliance with that nation, and perhaps Skald, the Educated, and/or SolCorp?

    -The Ishvara, "The Gnostic Contract"

Following the battle, a press release is issued by Director Adams, the Director of food distribution and health infrastructure in one of the larger sections of Demiurge. It details a plan through which the civilian facilities of Akademia will be improved to Planet average in the next three years without leveling unduly high taxes on the populace. In it, the Director notes that the plan calls for lending from other nations, to be negotiated via private radio transmission. ((OOC: All interested parties are urged to contact the director by PM))

The Babel Stormers, after defeating the Scientian forces and accepting the surrender of as many as choose to, take up defensive positions around the perimeter, after disbanding the Scientian tax agency and making sure that the vital infrastructure, insufficient as it is, is functioning at top efficiency. The populace is informed that all that is changed is the severity of rule, and who is allocating production. They also note that there will now be far more attention paid to their welfare.

My, my. That's a lot of things for us to agree to, with a fairly meager return. Sure, your labs are now among the best in the world, but your tech isn't valuable enough to us for us to pay a substantial amount of our budget, and to give up any tech we might explore on our own. Lower the price, or there won't be a deal this time. OOC: I'm always open for the a tech-for-espionage option. Basically, you can always pay us with tech for any difficult espionage mission you might have in mind. Unless some other thing stands in the way of us doing that, of course.

If such a day comes that you have three technologies that we do not, then we might be willing to pay 15 million to get them. However... We will not sign up for a deal that might, in the end, be full of empty promises. There is no guarantee that your labs truly will discover three new breakthroughs, or that you won't use the money given to you to take hostile actions toward PSI. I am sorry, but we will not sign up for something that could be a complete scam. Contact us again, when you do in fact have something real to put on the table, rather than promises.
