ooc: Taskon, Tenet, Jerik & co. have now made it approximately fifty feet through the camp. 450 feet to go. (2 moves a round for Jerik is 10 squares, or fifty feet, and if it is going to take us 10 turns through the camp, thats five hundred feet).

Moving through the camp, Jerik keeps a careful look out, and surreptitiously tries to examine the kobolds he sees at the various campsites within the seige lines.

Jerik, you are sure that those green and red markings on a camp of kobolds mean that they don't wash enough. The brown and yellow markings on another camp, you are certain...

OOC: I mistook Dorian for Calenethir. Dorian's dead by a Act of Plot, Calenethir hasn't taken damage. Raz is only human.

The kobolds moving towards you have split into three seperate groups. The left group has minions moving to C11, A10, A9; the dragonshield leading them moves to D9, crouching behind a tree.

The middle group has minons moving to I10, I11, J11, J12, J13; the dragonshield leading them moves to K12.

The far group has minions move to P11, P12, M12, N12; the crossbowman leading them moves to O12.

The skirmishers leap down from the rampart, jabbing at Merenwen and Aedrus and Quill.

Another horde of kobolds begins to surge up the hill, enough to give the distraction group second thoughts. Suddenly, a feral roar can be heard, and the kobold reinforcements turn back and run into the camps. The entire camp is moving, it seems, and they're all moving towards Slatetine.


Inside the camp is chaos. The roar is enough to make Jerik and Tenet's ears ring, and everyone is grabbing weapons and putting on armor. Yells of "It's time!" and "Let's move!" can be heard all around you. Taskon is shaking his head in dismay, an astonished look on his face.

Somebody grabs Jerik's shoulder and forces him to turn around. A grizzled, one-eyed gnoll with a picture of a bloody man blazoned on his armor is his assailant, and it yells in Jerik's face, "Come on, runt! Get your feeble group here to your mercenary band and get ready to assault the walls! The dragon's given the signal, and it's time to attack!"

ooc: this action is based on Tenet's bluff being successful (a 17 should, i think, beat a gnolls passive insight). If the bluff was unsuccessful, Jerik will simply wait to see the gnoll's reaction.

Jerik growls at the gnoll who waylaid him. "Do you see what's happening back there? That's my squad! Or it was. We found some of them setting traps all around the outside of this valley - we offered to help, figured they wanted to simply trap the Slateliners. Keep any loot from getting away. We talked to them and they attacked us. I'll never be able to hide from them in those mountains. Our only chance now is behind the walls. If Slateline lets us in to help defend them, I might survive. If we stay in the middle of all these treacherous scum, we're dead." Jerik points at the thousands of kobolds surrounding pockets of mercenaries. "See all them? They don't want to pay you, and they don't want you to get any of the loot either. They'll kill you. They'll kill you, probably eat you, and give anything of any worth that you're carrying to the dragon. If you're lucky you'll go down fast."

He leans in close to Jerik, his breath stinking of carrion. "Tell Al'cazor of the South that Rek needs to speak to him. You have the look of one of his lads. Thank you for telling me about this - we had better get ready to fight two armies today. Ha!"

He pushes Jerik off. "Remember, Al'cazor of the South! Rek needs to speak to him!

Alright, you scum, get moving! We've got a wall to take!"

He turns to Taskon, quietly, "Well, with all this, it looks like the only way we're going to get you into that city is going to be over the top a seige ladder. Do you know who this Al'cazor is? It's a tiefling name, which would make sense."

Jerik looks around briefly, checking the banner's in view.

Things had taken a nasty turn, but Calen wasn't ready to abandon their position to such a lowly foe. He replaces one gun in a flash and in then in one motion rips the other from its holster, slams back the hammer and fires from the hip, blasting the kobold skirmisher at point blank range.

In the Camp

Jerik easily spots a orange and red banner with a stylistic tiefling claw upon it. The runes upon it write Al'cazor - ruin, wrath, a red rain!

Taskon is pale, and his companions are skittish. "If the city is truly under attack, I believe that it will fall easily to a dragon's might. I need to get inside Slatetine for about half an hour before we flee - then we can head back to the caravan and flee northwards.
Tenet - you and Zenos take me into the city. Beren - you head with Jerik to go talk to Al'cazor of the South. If we can sow distrust in this host, all the better.
Tenet, Zenos, let's go. We'll meet you back at the caravan. May the Lady go with you."


Distraction Group

The kobold blasted by Aedrus falls - it's hard to tell whether it is truly dead or just faking. The kobold shot by Calenethir falls back bleeding, holding its claw to its chest. It hisses.

He heads off toward Slatetine, with Taskon and Zenos in tow. Gotta find a less conspicuous way into that town or we are going to be hit by both armies...

Three Kobolds die horrible shrieking deaths - I11, J12 and J13. The rest charge uncertainly up the hill, following the dragonshields - they carry short blades that faintly glow crimson alongside their scale-covered tower shields.

The far group moves forward, the minions moving to J5, K6, L6 and J6. The crossbowman moves to I7, aiming at Quill.
The middle group moves forward alongside their brethren, minions scrambling across the ramparts to F5 and F6, Dragonshield moving to H6.
The left group attacks, minions moving to A6, B5 and B6, striking at Calenethir with their lashed-together spears. The Dragonshield leading them darts out from behind the tree he hid behind, leaping onto the rampart and striking at Merenwen with his crimson blade. The blade emitted a burst of blood-red light as he lashed out at Merenwen's throat, and Merenwen fell with her throat ripped open. He yells a savage battle-cry in Draconic, one of triumph.
