The man lets out a squeak and a small disgusting puddle appears at his groin. "I didn't do anything with the kid, I swear! I saw him this morning when Celine made me come over, I haven't done anything with him since! Please don't kill me!" He is almost crying

"Did you watch the kid like she asked? Or did you decide it wasn't important enough, and decide to go grab a beer with the guys instead?"

"Do you think I'm rich? I can afford to go get beer with some guys? I went to my house to get some food for the boy and fell asleep over there."

Hlethiuk turns away from the man, annoyed, and turns twards his brutish companions.
"Damnit, he has no idea where the kid went..."

"Perhaps we should check her house?" Svendran suggests.

Celine tugs on Svendren's arm. "No, there's nothing in there. If we're going to find him we should go to the upper district. If you want to find out about a crime you go there. Be careful though, not everyone who goes there comes back." She starts walking away. "Its this way. And stay close to me this time. These streets aren't very safe."

Shagga whistles for his wolf to follow and he falls in step behind the others. He gets his shield ready and his scimitar lose in it's sheathe just in case something happens.

It takes over an hour to get to the Upper District. The sun has gone down when you pass by the sign. Its hard to believe that this city could get any worse but it does. On the way there you witness 4 muggings and are almost the victim of one.(One look at your weapons was enough to dissuade them.) Celine leads you to a very busy tavern. "If theres crime going on in this city, you'll find out about it here. Look around and people about kidnappings. I'm going to have a drink. Tell me everything. She walks toward the bar and is soon lost in a sea of people.

Svendran scans the crowd, looking for patrons already lubricated by drink.

You see many people who are lubricated by drink, This is a bar after all. But one man has a tiny tattoo under his left ear, one so small you can barely see it even though you are looking straight at it. It looks like an arch with a star in it.

Svendran nudges Shagga and points, "There, with the tattoo. I think he's our man. Shall we?"

Shagga leaves his wolf alone in an alley behind the bar before going in. Once inside the bar, it is hard for the large half-orc to move without bumping into people or knocking something over. He looks where Svendran points, but doesn't see anyone with a tatoo. Still, he believes that the hobgoblin has found something. "We need to isolate him from the pack. Perhaps we can try to lead him outside, or simply wait and observe him until he decides to go. If we press him here, the humans will band together even if it is he who is the true monster."

Svendran nods his head, "Agreed, good thinking. Watch the other exits, they could be working out of here. Try to get some differen angles." Svendran orders an ale from the bar and selects a table with a good view of all exits if there is one open.

Nearly an hour passes. Instead of going anywhere, the man simply orders a lot more drinks, makes an unsuccessful pass at a barmaid, and passes out.

As the hour draws to a close, Hlethiuk moves next to Svendran.
"This is taking forever! Lets just go up to someone and talk to them!"

[SilentNight]

Svendran nods his head. "Agreed, you two," he gestures at the half-orcs, "wait outside, there may be trouble. Hlethiuk, cover me." He approaches the passed out man with a pitying smile. Svendran picks him up, acting like a man taking a passed out man home and assists him out the door.

The man mutters "Come crawlin back to me shweetcakes?" He sounds positively hammered.

Hlethiuk follows the big man, doing as he asked, but remaining in the shadows as much as possible. As he moves, he wonders how the man knows his name. As far as he knows, Hlethiuk never said his name to the man.

I forgot to mention that this is a part of town where many non humans live. It's filled with gnomes and half orcs and northern Dwarves (remember Karad-Hal is Southeast). There was even an elven barmaid.

Nobody cares about a stupid drunk getting taken home.

Once they are safely outside, Svendran points out the man's tattoo to the others. "What do you think? Cults usually have something like this, door, "door to heaven", could be our man. Anyone want to suggest a course of action?"

Hlethiuk steps out of the shadows once he realizes fighting won't break out. He draws his shortbow and looks back at the Hobgoblin, and says,
"Well we sure as hell didn't bring him out here to bake him a cake! Either we tie him up and wait for him to get sober, or we question him now. Either way, let's make it quick... Humans gimme the creeps..."

As Svendran walks the man outside, Shagga moves over to the bar and motions over the barkeeper. He places a gold piece on the bar."Here, that's for.....what's his name? We'll try to see him home safely, but it would probably help if you happen to know where he lives. If not, maybe you could point out a few people he hangs out with around here."

The barkeeper scowls. "That lout? He's been comin 'ere every day fer the las' month. Won' say 'oo 'e is, or where 'e's from, and 'arrases the barmaids every chance 'e gits. Not tha' I care, as long as 'e pays 'is tab."

Shagga nods to the barkeep. "Well thanks for the help. We'll see that he's taken care of."

With that Shagga makes his way outside to the others. I suggest we move him somewhere. Perhaps we should ask him where he lives so that we might take him there. If not that, then an alley or someone else's house might have to suffice for now.
