Let me get our expert on it.

2. ## Re: The most epic OotS quotes

After an exhaustive study of n- dimensional calculus and some freshman bull sessions over beer and other toxic substances I can definitively prove that the concept of perpendicularity is not possible in realspace which is always curved, and therefore the whole argument in favor of its existence is a chimera. Named Trigak.

However, with more beer and other toxic substances I am prepared to support the idea that n-dimensional calculus is unreal, and that everything is inherently perpendicular to everything else.

We had a team working on that, but then had a huge setback when we needed to explain to the bunch of 5th graders what "perpendicular" means. Then we realized we needed to explain it to their manager.

4. ## Re: The most epic OotS quotes

How did it take until page three for "One saving throw at a time" to come up. That line is insanely badass, and probably my single favourite line in the entire comic.

O-Chul has a monopoly on the first dozen or so badass lines, imo. Nobody else can match him.

5. ## Re: The most epic OotS quotes

I dunno. Sigdi is a very, Very, VERY close second. Even infinitesimally

6. ## Re: The most epic OotS quotes

In terms of cool quotes in battles, I don't think neither O Chul nor Sigdi can hold a candle to Elan (to a bard/dashing swordsman these things come as a class feature :-) )

Good thing I'm not wearing armour.

You were her captain. Now you're going down with her ship.

Awesome, Elan at his best.

7. ## Re: The most epic OotS quotes

While elan certainly has a lot of good punchlines, they always lack the certain OOMPH! of taking a disintegrate to the face and just smiting evil!

8. ## Re: The most epic OotS quotes

O-Chul is the stoic quiet type. This means, of course, that when he opens his mouth to speak it'll almost always be awesome or at least worthwhile to listen to.

9. ## Re: The most epic OotS quotes

Oh, he is more than ok, but I don't hype him as much as some people :-D

Good catch with V, though. He has some awesome lines when he is not busy being a mass murderer or repentant mass murderer.

But for the lawful badass fighter archetype, I think I like Roy waaaaay more than both Sigdi and O-Chul, but that's just my taste :-)

Hm, maybe Elan realized it's a different kind of ship that's going down
ElanxTherkla4life heck no

11. ## Re: The most epic OotS quotes

Strange euphemism is strange =)

Also,
"I feel dumber just hearing it" is an alltime favourite of mine :-)

12. ## Re: The most epic OotS quotes

"One sexy shoeless 200-foot-tall flaming letter at a time."

-----

Edit: Is it to late for me to nominate this?
: "Were ye really so dumb ta think fer one second tha ye could beat Durkon--Durkon o' all tha folks in this great big beaut'ful world, in a fight that revolved around followin' tha rules?!?"

13. ## Re: The most epic OotS quotes

Black Dragon [to V]: You are as skilled as my information led me to believe...I am curious however...what would happen if we turned the magic off? Anti Magic Field.
Black Dragon: Fascinating. It appears you cease to be a mighty wizard and become a fragile pointy-eared monkey.
While I?

I am still a dragon.

- Strip #627: Power Outage

I find this whole scene so epic, even though it doesn't feature the triumph of any main characters..."still a dragon"! Damn straight, gives all wizards out there a reality check.

Never too late

15. ## Re: The most epic OotS quotes

I really liked this one from the most recent comic:

"Nothing left ta bind ye means nothin' left ta hide behind."

Directly applicable to the current situation, but also a great way of looking at responsibility and how we trade obligation for power.

16. ## Re: The most epic OotS quotes

I can't post links but everything that O-Chul says in 654 & 655 plus 657.

17. ## Re: The most epic OotS quotes

A good number of truly epic quotes have been mentioned already. Let me add one that's more on the subtle side, but I find it every bit as epic as is it hilarious:

Guess what spell I cast before giving this to the bird.

Expeditious Retreat?

...wait, what happens when you give someone an item that you've cast Expeditious Retreat on?

19. ## Re: The most epic OotS quotes

One that's always stuck in my mind is

"Passcode: Evolve Or Die".

Also

"What did you think the price for killing my best friend was going to be?"

20. ## Re: The most epic OotS quotes

If an epic quote is one by a heroic, victorious warrior who just showed more fighting ability than he ever had before, and then taking charge of the situation with more commitment and initiative than he ever had before, then we need to consider this one, from strip #400:

: Wanna make out?

21. ## Re: The most epic OotS quotes

Nothing, because you can't cast expeditious retreat on an item, or indeed anything that isn't yourself.

22. ## Re: The most epic OotS quotes

Expeditious Retreat?

Remember that intern who had a hard time trying to keep his boss's coffee from escaping?

Um, maybe if you had somehow channeled Expeditious Retreat into an item instead of yourself? Or if you assume that Expeditious Retreat technically includes your outfit, and then give your shoes to someone while it's still in effect.

I'm not expecting a literal by the book answer

24. ## Re: The most epic OotS quotes

I'm certain there is a feat somewhere that let's you cast a personal range spell on someone else.

5e has Distant Spell metamagic, which lets you cast a spell with the range of Touch to a range of 30 ft. Nothing about personal, though. I don't recall 3.5 even having that much.

Reach Spell feat lets you convert a touch spell to a ray with a 30-foot range. Or you could always take the ability from Archmage or Hierophant levels....

As for Personal...I rather doubt there's an official feat (to the extent I can doubt an official feat doesn't exist in a game system where "must have defeated a hippopotamus in single combat" appears as a feat prereq in a first-party book). The whole reason for the game to have a range of personal (instead of using the range of "touch") is so it can't be applied to just anyone (hence why potions, which can be used by anyone, can't contain personal-range spells).

Yeah, yeah, bunch of other stuff, but tell me more about that.

Blessed by Tem-Et-Nu appears in Sandstorm, and the prereq is not even the weirdest part of it....

Make it "not lawful, with a fire subtype" and it's all good!

That actually had me laughing there XD
