Re: R.I.P. TV Tropes
It's blocked here too (I just checked, we use WebSense, apparently like the OP). Oddly enough, the entire site isn't blocked... just certain pages. I had to browse through a few links before it stopped me. Then again, there seems to be little rhyme or reason behind the blockages... and the main page is blocked, so unless you have URLs for some of the subcategories, too bad.
EDIT: I click on a link, decide not to look at that page, click the Back key. That specific page was apparently blocked sometime during the minute or so I was looking at it.Last edited by PaladinBoy; 2008-11-03 at 10:58 PM.

Re: R.I.P. TV Tropes
proxy, anonymouse, etc are blocked. the server room computer isn't for some reason though O.o And each curse I get from the R.I.P. TV Tropes level me up.
I could try remote desktop to my home computer but I'm not sure if they could track that.Last edited by BobVosh; 2008-11-04 at 07:35 AM.

Re: R.I.P. TV Tropes
I was wondering why this thread was called RTP TVTropes when I was just last there a few minutes ago, I'm just glad its still there, its my favourite way to waste time.

Re: R.I.P. TV Tropes
Hmmmmmm.... odd, it's not being blocked by my websense program. I suggest googling ways to get around the program.

Re: R.I.P. TV Tropes
Yeah, I was truly worried, as I had never even heard of Websense until I read this thread. You guys really need to be more clear about what you actually mean. You say "TV Tropes has left the internet" when you mean "Some obscure web-sensor has blocked it, so a few thousand kids & folks at work can't see it". Huge difference, & not a funny one.

Re: R.I.P. TV Tropes
WebSense can be pretty amusing.
Xkcd.com - not blocked, but clicking the "Random" button for a random comic yields a block for 'sex and violence' every time. hoever using the Archive to go to the page the random button tried to reahc works fine.

Re: R.I.P. TV Tropes
Our Digital Media teacher sometimes threatens to block GitP if we do not get back to slaving over 3dMax. We find that mildly distressing.

Re: R.I.P. TV Tropes
That wouldn't work. Our school's server is entire - each room uses the same connection.
That, and we would get suspended for hacking the system. We do not want that happening."You tied your wings on tightly but they always come undone"

Re: R.I.P. TV Tropes
They can't use the same connection. I mean, yes, you all get the same T1 (or 3) connection, but it gets split up at routers and stuff, and all that cool stuff.
I suppose it could be considered hacking, but you're really more of just re-establishing your connection settings...no unauthorized access required. I don't remember how to do it anymore...I should probably brush up on that sort of stuff.

Re: R.I.P. TV Tropes
...
We have no idea what that means.
But nonetheless, our teachers would see that as hacking. Or messing with things. Or whatever. We would still get in trouble. We do not want to get suspended. We would be terribly disraught. We would much rather not be able to use GitP for the hour and forty-five minutes we're in that class.Last edited by Mr. Moon; 2008-11-05 at 10:48 PM.
