    Keishara Embermist

Turning at the sound of the thunderous roar, Keishara moves 5' off of her barstool and puts a table between her and the reptilian humanoids. She then concentrates as she attempts to conjure multiple grease patches under as many foes as she can.

    k13-14, L13-14

DC 15 Ref or fall (Kobold in k14 has to make 2 saves)
This save is repeated on your turn each round that the creature remains within the area. A creature can walk within or through the area of grease at half normal speed with a DC 10 Balance check. Failure means it can’t move that round (and must then make a Reflex save or fall), while failure by 5 or more means it falls (see the Balance skill for details).

Reminder - unless these creatures have 5 ranks in Balance, they are flat-footed.

The teenager completely toppled out of her chair on hearing a warcry that razed the tavern atmosphere. Clamouring inelegantly back to her feet, she could only stare from behind the backs of several stout and calm warriors at glimpses and glimmers of several lizard like monstrosities that her eyes went wide with terror at. She began to play an inspiring song, hoping to increase the fighting prowess of the inn's other denizens. The two sides' warriors trade blows, with neither side getting any good hits in. The two lizards in the back, clearly magic users, prepare their next synchronised spell. Two large green orbs materialize in their hands, and fly towards Vimek, spalshing all around.
The lizard in the center screams out in pain as Vimek's weapon digs into his flesh, and returns fire, literally. From his mouth shoots another inferno of flames, narroly missing his companions and torching Ran and Vimek. Ran manages to dodge most of the fire, but is still badly burned.
With a howl and a leap off the table, 'Badger' slices down with his ax, leaving a gaping hole in the lizard before him. He falls, bleeding quickly, mixing the dark red blood with the black grease on the floor. The other three meleeists continue the attack.

    Spoiler

    Just want to remind Gentoo44...

The grease save is repeated on each round that the creature remains within the area (Ref DC 15 or fall). A creature can walk within or through the area of grease at half normal speed with a DC 10 Balance check. Failure means it can’t move that round (and must then make a Reflex save or fall), while failure by 5 or more means it falls (see the Balance skill for details).

In addition, unless these creatures have 5 ranks in Balance, they are flat footed.

under Balance Skill: Being Attacked while Balancing: You are considered flat-footed while balancing, since you can’t move to avoid a blow, and thus you lose your Dexterity bonus to AC (if any). If you have 5 or more ranks in Balance, you aren’t considered flat-footed while balancing. If you take damage while balancing, you must make another Balance check against the same DC to remain standing.

So, any time these creatures in grease get hit, another Balance check is needed. Hopefully, the law of averages are in our favor, here.

Once again, both sides fight furiously back and forth, and is isn't long before the greese turns a dark copper color, mixing with the blood. The firebreather in the center reaches into his pack and pulls out a bottle of white liquid. Before he can drink it, a stream of lightening shoots from the door. The creature falls to his knees, and the lightening connecting him to a figure in the door scorches through his body for seconds on end. Four more such lines shoot from the figure at the other attackers, dropping them as well. Only after the creatures are long dead the figure cuts off the flow of magic. You can now see him more clearly. He is a tall, extreamly thin figure, and wears a long, unadorned blue robe with an overhanging hood that obscures his face from this distance. Though he says nothing, it is clear that the display of magic leaves him out of breath. The air around the bar is still tingling with resdue from the electric energy.

Default Re: Close Encounters Of The Scaly Kind!

The elf looks behind him through the door, and makes sure that no one is following him. When he speaks, his voice is small but commanding.
"There is no time. There are many more like those coming."
He reaches into the folds of his robes and pulls out a small green crystal. Clenching it tightly in his hand, he closes his eyes and concentrates. Before your eyes, the elf and his clothes pull appart, further and further, until they detach, making two separate beings enitly. They speak as one.
"Each of you, grab hold of one of us. We are going to teleport. I will explain everything when we are safe."
As he speaks to you, you can finally se that he is old, extreamly old. His skin is a pale gray, and his face is lined with wrinkles.

Kaori notices that Kurt is long dead, and that the other adventurers have fled.

I'd hate to relate this too much to a game, but I have to admit that I am taking an idea from Fable 2. In the world, the vast majority of people are average, but some are known as 'heroes'. (/heroins) Some heroes are more powerful than others. You all are one. A lot of the time it isn't too special, and don't think that there aren't NPC heroes. Anyway, done with the video game referance.
