Default Silverhand Paladin: Huge Variant (huge)

    Paladin of the Silverhand

    HD: 1d10 + (con mod)

    Drawbacks:
The Silverhand Paladin sacrifices all slot spells, including the summoned mount, except smite evil, lay on hands, etc.

    Proficiencies: As regular paladin.

    Skills: As regular paladin.

    Deity/religion:
Silverhand paladins are required to worship an entity known as 'the light' that has grown itself over the years to favor the Silverhand in their duties and actually manifests itself in portions to assist the knights in times of need. Each time a paladin uses her abilities, such as lay on hands, the light actually manifests itself through the paladin, rather then simply granting her the function (their are no mehanical changes to her abilities, however).

    Alignment: Lawful good

The Silverhand Paladin follows the code of the Knights of the Silverhand, however ultimately they are loyal to the king of Azeroth (south of Lordaeron). If the Silverhand willingly obey an evil order from higher authorities within the order (but not an unlawful one unless through MAJOR convincing by the right top authorities as well as their own higher consultants within the order), they do not forgo being a paladin. Otherwise, they must still remain loyal to Silverhand Code, which is essentially Paladin Code, but with the inclusion of authority figures keeping the order together. A formal discharge from the order can change a Silverhand Paladin into an ordinary paladin (depending on GM approval, if the character adopts the life of an independant do-gooder, having had prior experience; otherwise she is a fighter) of equivalent ECL, depending on the terms of the discharge (an unsolicited act of evil might reduce the paladin to a fighter prior to being discharged). It is important to note that a Silverhand Paladin, after being held at tribunal, can be discharged on reasonable grounds for willingly obeying an evil order as well. The drawback to this variant is that they could be discharged (thus forgo being a Silverhand Paladin) for being ignorant to the circumstances of the situation as well!

Back Story Material (not necessary to completely abide by, of course):

The Order of the Knights of the Silverhand function much like a militia or paramilitary force loyal to the king as well as those officials whom keep the order together. Often times a Paladin must obey the king, unless the appropriate officials say otherwise (and then the Paladin is given the right to choose who to obey without forgoing being a Paladin). A Silverhand Paladin that is leader of the Silverhand can commit anything and give any order to their vassals as long as the king is unaware (and even then, the king or an official given leave by the king, must formally discharge the leading figure from duty as a Paladin in order for the Paladin to forgo being a Paladin). However, a leader cannot rewrite or dictate Silverhand code (or suffer severe backfiring consequences for RP sake), without committing time to rewriting it. In addition to the months needed to carry out sealed approval of the new regulations that define Silverhand Code, might involve major bread and butter constitutional modifications, which might drag on for multiple years, or small changes which range from weeks to months; months being middle-ground standards within the Code.

Of course, not all Knights of the Silverhand are Silverhand Paladins. Some function as the ‘regular paladins’ dipping within all strides, but not specializing in one or the other (which requires active ceremonial inauguration), being trained more rapidly; thus encouraged to find their own methods in wielding the light. Others might include fighters, clerics (of which were once a more independent order until the Order of the Horse and them came together in a pact to help uphold integrity) knights or even crusaders as well as the more mundane npc classes (exclude merchant, and adept) but not anything to do with the psychic or arcane. Rogues and rangers are allowed to walk the halls of the order, however they are kept on a close leash. Monks are quite rare, usually belonging in the far northern sibling of the light known as the Scarlet Crusade. Duties of the Silverhand require most of their officials to maintain higher diplomatic international relations on behalf of all of the alliance (but at one time, only the kingdom of Azeroth). The Silverhand, being a political force, also retains funding (from beneficiaries such as aristocrats), but isn’t too scholarly or studios (thus often lacking monks).

The Scarlet Crusade on the other hand, accepts pretty much anyone into their order, including arcanists and psychics in their fanatical pledge to uphold anti-necromantic laws they’ve had established in their territory.

The Argent Dawn are very similair to the Silverhand, however they are more neutral and independent of state political affairs, in addition to having more martial classes and a smaller list of clerics and paladins.

All three orders are quite similar in how they operate, despite varying beliefs, and all generally holding the entity known as ‘The Light’ in good standards. As such, this class variant can also apply to any of their paladins.

Races: Most Silverhand Paladins are human, considering humans mostly inhabit Azeroth within the eastern kingdoms and even after it was lost to the rampaging horde during the first war of the age, the humans sought to rebuild the capitol and soon humans once again made up the bulk of the most civilized inhabitants within the sub-continent. However, some paladins are also dwarves (mostly of Ironforge descent), ever since the strong alliance formed during the second war and the relations prior to then. Few Paladins make up other races except high elves and their blood elf siblings (if a blood elf template exists). Forest trolls are often too stubborn to consecrate, and orcs have been culturally loath to disregard human education and humans in general, although some orcs trolls and even undead of free will have joined the Argent Dawn in its own crusade against evil.

    Stride:

The Paladin of Silverhand has the option of selecting a ‘stride’ at first level. Each stride will effect how she will function for the rest of her time spent as a Paladin. After she selects a stride, she will be inaugurated into the order to carry out her duties in service to the order freely. She may change Strides at any moment however she must re-inaugurate herself within one of the sacred church’s of the Silverhand, and spend months preparing and training for re-inauguration. Additionally she loses all XP acquired since her most recent level gained and 50% of all her fortunes must be donated to the order.

The Silverhand may choose from three strides at 1st level: Retribution, Defense and Holy.

    Stride of Retribution

Those who walk with a Stride of Retribution seek to hunt down all enemies of their great nation, preserving moral and social stability in troubling times and bringing divine wrath through a more martial-centered orthodox faith in the light.

I think you're missing the [/table] at the end.

You'll have to wait for the defence and holy strides to be put up.
