Gnolls were specially chosen because they are hyena-people. They will be a playable race if selected.

At this time, there are no plans to broaden genasi to the Arabic elements.

Certain other races will make the cut as rare creatures, based on this vote. They will not be considered PC races. Others will be cut entirely.

The Half-Djinn and Half-Ghul will be homebrewed.

A few of you seem to be missing one or two races. Should we assume that you don't want to place additional votes? If you've forgotten, please repost stating that your list was incomplete and include both your original votes and your new ones, indicating which are which.

Would the rare races have that little "XYZ as characters" box, like trolls?

I don't recognize a couple of the names there (specifically Genasi and Half-Ghul, I can figure out what a half-djinn would be), as I haven't caught up on this thread yet and don't know if they've already been explained. As such, I'll vote for a couple races that I know I want now, and add more in after this has been clarified.

Elves. I keep going on about getting those damned elves out of their trees.

Lizardfolk. I just love these guys. Not having read through the thread, I have no idea whether they'll make it in or not, but I hope they do. And if they do, I'm going to put my faith in you folks that they'll get their own interesting and unique culture. (Warhammer has pretty much irrevocably changed my vision of them from mindless beasts into savage (as in, rather brutal), though highly cultured people. For those that might not know, Lizardmen in Warhammer are their fantasy equivalent to Aztecs, which has always struck me as awesome. Oh, and they ride dinosaurs, for some reason.)

Gnolls. They're underutilized and they make sense.

Genasi. Never seen these before, and they seem interesting. Also, possible Efreet blood is a good thing. Other reasons have already been mention

Here you are. I believe Genasi to be elemental humans.

Ghuls have already been explained by streakster on this thread.

Genasi have been around for a while. They are mortals with trace elemental heritage.

I like the idea of one of the races perhaps having Efreet blood. Perhaps fire genasi could fit that bill, or possibly teiflings?

As this is a desert setting, I could see one of two things: water-genasi either being revered in a land with little access to water, or being viewed as commodities - perhaps at the center of a lucrative slave trade.

I dunno, I sort of see a city run by a noble water-genasi family, who founded the city due to their natural affinity to water, giving them plenty of oasises.

I love elves, if they're well-done, but I just don't see them as a fit with Arabian flavor. Same with all the other Tolkien races, really, without some heavy modification. (The kind of modification, incidentally, that turned hobbits into kender.)

    I vote:

    • Aasimar
    • Lizardfolk
    • Half-Djinn
    • Goblinoid
    • Camelfolk

Some notes, even though I doubt anything except my raw voting will actually be considered:

Camelfolk should be a Large or Medium-with-Powerful-Build race, to add that element into the setting. But not especially savage like Races of Stone Goliaths. (PCs, of course, can act savage if they want.)

If goblinoids are out, then I'd want halflings instead as a Small race influence.

Either Half-Genies or Genasi must certainly make an appearance, but I don't see the need for both. I prefer Genies, so I voted for Half-Djinn. I might change my vote if Genasi (all four kinds) were going to be re-flavored as genie offspring, though.

Whichever elemental race(s) turn out, they should be counterparts of the Aasimar. I think it's quite clever to have that instead of the cliche Aasimar/Tiefling pairing. They wouldn't have to be hated rivals, since elemental humanoids aren't necessarily evil, but they would be rivals.
    You can call me Draz.

Genasi(arabic elements preferably, possibly linked to the Djinn somehow)
Half-Djinn(more or less rendering aasimar obsolete, as Djinn don't necessarily have to be evil, as all they are are spirits of fire who refused to bow to man when angels did, and aasimar don't have to be good anyways)
Gnoll(hyena people, do I need to say more)
    Lizard Folk(preferably sand colored)
    Ghul(because tieflings are lame)
