Not for long, though, because apparently the young Imperial feels compelled to make conversation. "So where are you from, then?"

@Netta and Rika:

Your tunnel curves further downward, before it ends on heavy metal door. It seems locked or fused shut.

@Ridai:

There were two exits from the cavern with the tombs. Do you want to ignore them?

The right way soon leads upward, and finally ends in a wall of densely packed snow and ice. It seems that here was an exit, but it's blocked now.

[Ridai]

"Hmm, nothing to see here." Akaine backtracks and goes into the left tunnel.

[Liliedhe]

The left tunnel also curves downward, changing from Ice to Stone and finally ending at another door. It is made of metal, about 2m wide and 3m tall, and it doesn't budge.

[Ridai]

"Where's the magic saying when I need it." Akaine checks the door for a keyhole and other locking mechanisms, including look through gaps for a bar used to block the door. After that, he looks at the immediate surroundings of it, including a manual search of the walls and floor.

"If you can't find any way to open it, I have a couple of blockss of detonite..."

Akaine's searching discovers indeed a controlpanel behind disguised moveable plate of wall, but it is long since dead and doesn't react.

[Ridai]

Akaine tries to connect an energy cell stored in his utility belt with his tools to get at least the rudimentary functions of the console up and running. If that does not work, he tries to reroute the energy from the cell through the circuitry to trigger the opening mechanism.

"When that doesn't work, I'll be standing by with the explosives..."

It doesn't come to explosives. Akaine needs almost an hour of fiddling and playing around with the old dead wires, but then the door hums to life, opens - and dies again. A faint trail of smoke rises from the entrails of the panel.

Behind the door, thick darkness presses down on you. It is to ... oppressive to merely be physical, you would bet.

"Hmm." Netta stops short of the door, and looks it over, trying to figure out if there's a control panel or even an old-fashioned latch on it. "There must have been some way to open this, right?"

It has handles, but closer inspection reveals it to be rusted shut. It seems like a little violence might force it, though.

[Ascension]

"I don't like thiss darknesss," Sshran says. With his blaster rifle at the ready, he peers into the shadows...

I would have liked if they kept ANY explanation why Darkvision WORKS. How the heck do you describe what you see?

Peering into the darkness, the Trandoshan discovers a large, empty room. Alcoves are placed along the walls, holding shattered and broken objects. The darkness is heaviest in the center of the room, where something ... humanshaped seems to float in midair...

"Finally." Akaine shines some light into the room.

If beings in Star Wars don't have some magic black and white vision, darkvision = infrared vision, similar to the drow in the Forgotten Realms.

Yeah, but D&D did away with Infravision and made it something magical. I suppose it's pretty much the same in Saga, considering the similiarity of the rules.

Which doesn't change anything about Drow seeing in the infrared range, the same with the Trandoshans (see citation from Wookieepedia for the latter). As there was nothing else in the post, I'll assume Akaine sees the same things as Sshran. If not, then just ignore the following block of text.

"Well, seems like I'm gonna find out about the general attitude of the ghosts real soon. We should go get Netta.", Akaine says to the Trandoshan in a low voice and quickly backtracks through the tunnels to the main hall and goes into the tunnel Netta and the stranger went into if Sshran agrees.

"You get the otherss!" Sshran shouts, "I'll try to hold it off if it turns hostile!"

Sshran falls back about a single move and aims at the shadowy figure, though he does not fire.

Being interrupted by finding the door, Netta never gets her answer - instead, Rika walks to the door and says: "Shall we try to open it, or come back with the men?"

"We might as well try to open it first, right?" Netta takes hold of the handles and pulls, trying to pry the rusted doors apart or at least get a feel for how firmly stuck they are.

She pulls on the door, hard. After a few tries, it actually gives way. Silvery light streams in from the cavern behind it...

[The_Snark]

Netta raises her hand to shield her eyes from the light, a tactic made rather counterproductive by the fact that she's still holding the fusion lantern in that hand. She switches it off, and looks back at Rika to make sure she's following; then she enters the doorway, squinting while her eyes adjust to the sudden light.

[Liliedhe]

The light isn't intense enough to really hurt, it's just startling after the darkness in the caverns before.

She looks into a huge, natural cave, a vaulted chamber, the ground rising in tiers towards a sparkling waterfall? No, it's not water, it is a pillar made of crystal reflecting light in a myriad rainbow colors... The same kind of crystal covers the walls and the steps in the floor, growing out of the rock.

[Battlecat]

Slowly, the other woman follows Netta through the door, an expression of awe on her face.

"Wow", she says in a hushed voice, "that's amazing..."
