Gestalt Arena Test Match - Lenny/Squiggy vs Moby
A towering figure in a dark robe enters the room where you have been milling around sizing up the competition. His face is completely obscured by his hood. He raises both hands to get your attention and speaks in a deep voice.
Sam, Camael. You have been chosen to fight. Prepare yourselves!
With that he brings his hands down and the two of you find yourself transported to the arena
OOC:
You've got time for one swift action and one standard action before you get transported in case you need to adopt a stance or activate an item.
On the map, green is open terrain, yellow is difficult terrain, red/brown is the cliffs (10ft, Climb DC20, blocks LoS). Arena has a 60 foot ceiling.
Opening post should have an initiative roll, anything you said after he called your name and what, if anything you did with the 'surprise round' before being transported. After that, start fighting in initiative order.

Re: Gestalt Arena Test Match - Lenny/Squiggy vs Moby
Alright, my latest match has given me a new "outlook" on archers...so my guy will probably be getting an overhaul...but I'll play him out "as is" here, just to get a feel of where he's lacking...
Initiative - (1d20+10)[16]
Actions before fight:
SpoilerSwift: Enter Press the Advantage Stance
Standard Action: Activate Inspire Courage w/ Dragonfire Inspiration Using Words of Creation having Squiggy Take (3d4)[6] Non-lethal Damage

Sure.
Init: (1d20+2)[4]
Surprise round actions:SpoilerStandard: Activate Ring of invisibility
Swift: Enter Step of the wind stance
I've gotten a couple ideas on how to improve this guy. I'm tryin' to get him an AC of 70... Got an idea for a character that's pretty much auto-win vs. stealth too, just gotta shore it up against damage cows.Last edited by Talic; 2008-11-19 at 09:20 PM.

Re: Gestalt Arena Test Match - Lenny/Squiggy vs Moby
Top left and bottom right corners?
And I'll PM you the details of the Auto win vs sneaky types.
And towering figure? Ha! I think that unless the towering figure is actually a tower, something tells me it falls short of the multi-ton whale man in the red corner.Last edited by Talic; 2008-11-20 at 06:57 AM.

Re: Gestalt Arena Test Match - Lenny/Squiggy vs Moby
You killed my lizard
Still Singing...of course...Squiggy takes a 5ft step to J24, then another to I24. Lenny takes a 5ft step to J27, then another to J28.
And I can do this because I'm in the "Press the Advantage" Stance
Then both will take a swift action to activate the Boost Raging Mongoose.
Then as a full-round attack, they will rapid shot you!

Confirming 3 Crits...

Damage1 - (2d8+14)[24]

Damage2 - (2d8+14)[20]
Confirm3 - (1d20+21)[37]
Damage3 - (2d8+14)[18]
(Edit)
So the break down of attacks is as follows
Lenny
Attack-1 = 36 vs AC Damage - 8(bow) + 11(Skirmish) + 25(Fire) Total - 44
Attack-2 = 34 vs AC Damage - 9(bow) + 8(Skirmish) + 26(Fire) Total - 43
Attack-3 = 41(crit) vs AC Confirm = 34 vs ACDamage - 9(bow) Crit - 24(bow) + 12(Skirmish) + 22(Fire) Total - 43 With Crit - 67
Attack-4 = 41(crit) vs AC Confirm = 24 vs ACDamage - 9(bow) Crit - 20(bow) + 16(Skirmish) + 24(Fire) Total - 49 With Crit - 69
Attack-5 = 30 vs AC Damage - 12(bow) + 7(Skirmish) + 21(Fire) Total - 40
Attack-6 = 16 vs AC Damage - 11(bow) + 10(Skirmish) + 23(Fire) Total - 44
Squiggy
Attack-1 = 32 vs AC Damage - 8(bow) + 10(Skirmish) + 25(Fire) Total - 43
Attack-2 = 24 vs AC Damage - 8(bow) + 10(Skirmish) + 19(Fire) Total - 37
Attack-3 = 41(crit) vs AC Confirm = 37 vs ACDamage - 15(bow) Crit - 18(bow) + 8(Skirmish) + 21(Fire) Total - 44 With Crit - 62
Attack-4 = 28 vs AC Damage - 10(bow) + 11(Skirmish) + 18(Fire) Total - 39
Attack-5 = 36 vs AC Damage - 12(bow) + 8(Skirmish) + 17(Fire) Total - 37
Attack-6 = 19 vs AC Damage - 13(bow) + 12(Skirmish) + 22(Fire) Total - 47
So...if your AC is still 26...You Damage total is...
424 Damage w/ Crits
382 Damage w/o Crits
Otherwise...I'll need to know your ACLast edited by theterran; 2008-11-21 at 03:39 PM.

Re: Gestalt Arena Test Match - Lenny/Squiggy vs Moby
Morphic Immunities. I am immune to Crits and stunning. Immunity to crits also provides me with immunity to sneak attacks, sudden strike, and skirmish damage.
Further, as I don't note any Silver weapons on your sheet, you'll need to contend with DR 10.
Lenny
Attack-1 = 25(Fire)
Attack-2 = 26(Fire)
Attack-3 = 22(Fire)
Attack-4 = 24(Fire)
Attack-5 = 2(bow) + 21(Fire) Total - 23
Attack-6 = Missed
Squiggy
Attack-1 = 25(Fire)
Attack-2 = Missed
Attack-3 = 5(bow) + 21(Fire) Total - 26
Attack-4 = 18(Fire)
Attack-5 = 2(bow) + 17(Fire) Total - 19
Attack-6 = Missed
By my math? 208 damage, mostly fire. That leaves me at 130 hp. For reference, my flat footed AC is 25, Actual AC 26.
EDIT: But wait, there's more. As both characters are hiding when they start, the first attack is pretty much foregone. However, unless Squiggy has something special... He's in my threat range (20 feet, thanks to huge size + morphic reach). Without some special ability, his 2nd attack provokes. More to come.

Re: Gestalt Arena Test Match - Lenny/Squiggy vs Moby
Melee touch VS Squiggy to initiate grapple: (1d20+29)[48]
Opposed grapple, if hit: (1d20+43)[62] (there should be no chance for you to avoid this step, at this stage)
Damage, if successful: (1d6+22)[27]
This should mean that Squiggy's attacks, after the 1st, are irrelevant, provided I don't roll a 1 on the initial attack.
Final damage to me: 145 (Lenny's attacks, + Squiggy's first attack)

Note that the Swift Hunter Feat also says that my Favored Enemies take my skirmish damage, even if they are normally immune to crits and the like...and giant is one of my favored enemies.
So the skirmish damage should still count...

Re: Gestalt Arena Test Match - Lenny/Squiggy vs Moby
My Turn:
Swift: Adopt stance: Crushing weight of the Mountain
Full round Action: Opposed Grapple checks to deal damage.
Grapple Check 1: (1d20+43)[50]
If Success: (1d6+22)[28] (unarmed) + (2d6+33)[43] (constrict)
Grapple Check 2: (1d20+38)[44]
If Success: (1d6+22)[25] (unarmed) + (2d6+33)[36] (constrict)
Provided you were grappled, that should drop you. When I grappled, I had to move into the target square (J28). My current space is J-L/27-29.
Free: 5 foot step to J-L/26-28.

+67 Damage then. 145+67 = 212.
Fast healing 2.
Total damage sustained 210.
(+67 rather than +74 because skirmish is physical damage. On some attacks, it needed to finish punching through DR)
Funny, coulda swore that was Human 2 days ago, lol. No matter. The match is better this way. There's an element of risk. Poo on me for not getting fire resistance. Shoulda known.Last edited by Talic; 2008-11-21 at 08:44 PM.

Re: Gestalt Arena Test Match - Lenny/Squiggy vs Moby
Human is the 3rd one...isn't it?
I swear I thought the three I had were Monsterous Humanoid, Giant, and Human...Monsterous Humanoid and Giant have always been there...that Human slot keeps changing as I'm waiting to see how people settle...
That being said...Squiggy is down...wait...Lenny is down...not squiggy...
Squiggy is in I-24...Lenny was in J28...so recalculate the damage with that...I think you're going to win this one...though I'm tickled that I did that much damage in one go...even if I'll loose...Last edited by theterran; 2008-11-21 at 09:05 PM.

Re: Gestalt Arena Test Match - Lenny/Squiggy vs Moby
Lemme recalculate damage then. I took off the wrong attacks.
EDIT: Ok, After taking off Lenny's attacks 2-6, rather than squiggy's, I get the following damage: 157.
The loss of damage is due to the fact that Lenny hit harder, and more often.
Breakdown is:
Lenny 1: Bow + Skirmish = 19 - 10 (DR) = 9
Fire: 25
Squiggy 1: Bow + Skirmish = 18 - 10 (DR) = 8
Fire: 25
Squiggy 2: Missed
Squiggy 3: Bow + Skirmish = 23 - 10 (DR) = 13
Fire: 21
Squiggy 4: Bow + Skirmish = 21 - 10 (DR) = 11
Fire: 18
Squiggy 5: Bow + Skirmish = 20 - 10 (DR) = 10
Fire: 17
Squiggy 6: Missed
Total Fire damage: 106
Total Physical: 51
Total: 157
Fast Healing 2.
Current damage sustained: 155.Last edited by Talic; 2008-11-21 at 09:14 PM.

I also need a way to get around resistance...maybe making it sonic damage would help?

Re: Gestalt Arena Test Match - Lenny/Squiggy vs Moby
Well, Dvati gives you a bunch of extra damage, in the form of extra attacks.
Key with stealth is that time's on your side. If you stay hidden and shoot, you'll be in good shape. I'd add seeking to your bow. Compliments well with blindsense to hit the invisible. I'd also carry Adamantine, Silver, and Cold Iron Arrows. Bonus if you can cover good and evil as well.
Not sure how you'd change damage. Sonic is better though. I've always been a fan of physical damage personally. People can get elemental immunity. Physical damage is hard to gain immunity to.
You may want to consider Bloodstorm Blade, since you have iron heart maneuvers anyway. The level 4 ability is nice, and may limit the weapon you need.
Perhaps a Javelin (+?, Seeking, Metalline) Lowered range won't matter if you stick to 30 anyway, and you can still stack other enchantments on it... Or perhaps have 2, a holy and an unholy. If you can emulate alignment (UMD), you shouldn't take the negative level. That would cover DR to Good, Evil, Magic, or any metal. All you'd be out is to Bludgeoning and Slashing.

Hrmm...I might be able to knock it down to +1 Bows and put Seeking on it...
The problem with Dvati is that I only have half the amount of $$ that everyone else gets...
And I really need to get my Attack Bonus up...+21 really isn't enough for alot of the ACs I"m seeing..

Squiggy

Then I'll move, under the cover of my hide...hopefully...to J20...there I'll Manyshot you with a Standard Action...

You'd have to take a move action to hide again.
Sniping is: 1 attack, then a move to hide (-20 penalty).
You can revamp your turn if you like.

Re: Gestalt Arena Test Match - Lenny/Squiggy vs Moby
Swing and a miss...
Actually...I think I know what I'm going to do to resolve this...I'm just going to drop the skirmishing part of the build and concentrate on the Bard/Warblade side...and add Soulbow to the other side...that'll give me basically a free weapon...so I can spend more money elsewhere...
