Re: Trouble in the West (WUSHU) IC
Chaucer
"Glad to disappoint everyone, then." Chaucer does a slight bow, taking care not to clunk his head on the tabletop. "We're not after the smith, by the way. He's expecting a customer to come by and pick up a suspicious quantity of rare metals."

"Why would the smith have a suspicious quantity of rare metals? Is he some sort of exotic metal wholesaler?" Kate eyed Chaucer critically.

Re: Trouble in the West (WUSHU) IC
Chaucer
"That's a good question. Are you suspicious of the smith, now?"

"I have to be." Kate answers rather vaguely. "There's always a reason for things, and a scientist is supposed to discover them."

Re: Trouble in the West (WUSHU) IC
Chaucer
Chaucer scratches idly at his chin. "So, because you're a scientist, you're suspicious of everything you don't understand? That sounds like an awful lot of work to me. I know you don't seem to like to talk about your history, but how did you get interested in that?"

"A scientist is supposed to discover the reason for everything. We are hypothesizing, experimenting, and so on. We aren't suspicious. We're just less likely to believe in the accepted explanation without proof."

Re: Trouble in the West (WUSHU) IC
Not much to say except the drunk man, still under the influence of Mort, manages to leave the Inn and presumably gets home and goes to bed. I'm guessing FF Fanboy isn't interested in playing anymore, no matter, we can just say he wandered off into the night, lone wolf style.
I drew this line myself

Re: Trouble in the West (WUSHU) IC
Mort walks over to stand in between the blendling and the scientist.
First: This isnt productive. How about we spy on the deal, and then you two talk to the smith whilst i tail the purchuser.
Second: Im going to bed. We have work to do tommorow.
And with that Mort heads upstairs.

"Sounds good to me. Sleep well, you two." Chaucer starts towards the stairs as well

You notify Grey Desert to wake you early next morning.
Morning comes way too quickly and before long, a knocking comes from each of your room's doors. Opening the door or walking through it, Grey Desert is on the other side and invites you downstairs for breakfast.I drew this line myself

True to form, Kate eats her breakfast at least one chair open on all sides from any non-human. She does not speak when she eats unless answering a direct question. And if it's Chaucer, he probably doesn't even get that much.

Re: Trouble in the West (WUSHU) IC
Chaucer
"Morning, Kate. How's it goin', Mort? Did you guys sleep well?" Chaucer pops a bit of breakfast into his mouth and chews thoughtfully. "I kept dreaming I was being chased up a staircase by some guy called Frued. It was a little unnerving. Hopefully that's not a sign of things to come. I've never been prophetic before. It sounds like a huge hassle." He chatters on, doing his best to try and draw Kate into a conversation.

Mort eats sausages and drinks juice in silence. His mouth twitches upwards for a second as he listens to Chaucer talk.

Kate had likely replaced her sense of humor with steam-powered gyros to keep her balance, because she didn't laugh at Chaucer's comment. Instead, she shot him a venomous glance as she scooped a forkful of egg into her mouth.
"We should probably investigate that smith today. I'm curious as to his selection of metals."

Re: Trouble in the West (WUSHU) IC
Chaucer
"Oh, I'm certainly curious too. Maybe less about the metals and stuff--though I will admit that they are probably shiny--and more about the man looking to buy them. Speaking of which, shall we be on our way? I'd hate to have him arrive early and completely give us the slip." Chaucer scarfs down the last of his breakfast and pushes his seat back, ready to leave.
OOC: shall we move things along?
