WFRP (By Invitation Only)

Act One is now over and you have a quarter-hour interval before Act Two begins, in which the Noble, as played by Indelfin, meets the Doctor, as played by Torendil, to discuss the marriage of his daughter to him.

During this, you can do essentially what you like backstage.

The director walks up and slaps you on the back. "Nice, Indelfin! But let's have more expression, lad. You really think you'll die if she doesn't marry this guy."

[drum-n-bass]

Aye, Will do. Indelfin takes off his hat and sets it on a box nearby to cool down.

[Xsesiv]

A little boy of no more than eight runs up to you with some watered-down wine and a piece of bread. "'D'you like somethin' ta drink or eat, Mr. Indelfin, sir?" He gazes up at you with utmost admiration in his eyes.

[drum-n-bass]

Ah, yes. Yes I would like something to eat and drink. He says grabbing the wine and bread.
If the kid doesn't leave he will ask Whad else do ye want?

[Xsesiv]

"You be'ed a very funny noble."
The director wanders over and tells him, gently but firmly, "Don't distract the actors, lad." The boy falls to brushing straw off the stage with a broom. "Anything you need to do before you get back onstage? Because you have fifteen minutes and I want to take everyone through their motivation before we do Act Two."

[drum-n-bass]

Eh.......Not dat I can tink of. Indelfin says putting his hat back on and practicing with his fake swords How much do I get paid for these shows?

[Xsesiv]

"Not enough. I wish we lived in more enlightened times. The Nobles who are watching pay each of the minor actors two Crowns, me five Crowns, and you, the major actors, ten Crowns. The rest, and the whole of the stagehand's wages, relies on tips from the common folk. D'you know your lines?"

[drum-n-bass]

Yeah. Why wouldn't I? I am one of the lead actors he says getting ready.

[Xsesiv]

"And the swordplay choreography? You know that? Because it's pretty dangerous to get wrong."

[drum-n-bass]

I know it. I know it. I know it. If I didn't know it I wouldn't be a lead actor. That's how I became lead, I study it and study it and do excellent acting. Plus I have a pretty face. Now stop babying me. Indeflin says obviously looking peeved.

[Xsesiv]

"OK, OK, I'm just worried because last time I performed this play, one actor got a cut-off ear. The audience loved it but the one with the sword got beaten unconscious by poor old Odo One-Ear. Right, here we go. You've finally found the love of your daughter's life or so you think. You're about to make a killing in medical bills. You'll never get your frail body ill again. You're really relieved because you thought you would die of Estalian Pox or whatever. You're really vain, so you won't have to sustain the embarrassment of your daughter joining the nunnery. And you're mad. Now go out and do your soliloquy."

[drum-n-bass]

But these aren't real, they are fake. Ok, I will Indelfin says going out.

OK, put your soliloquy lines, and end them with "...ah, here comes the Doctor" or something to that effect.

Going out on stage Indelfin starts doing his monologue What, a misfortune. My daughter rejected the love of her life. What regrets.....At least I didn't die of Estalian Pox*puts back left hand on forehand*. Oh my what a misfortune. My lovely daughter is going to live in a nunnery. Oh me, oh my. I'm never going to get ill again. This is horrible. he rambles on for about 5 more minutes before saying And now the doctor comes in.....

ah, there you are sir regix *graciously bows* it is I, the doctor, dr. capulet. what is it you wanted me for today, sir?

surely you called me here for a reason? what is it you want? the doctor says, almost as if building tension to the reply the noble was about to make

On come the girl playing Regix's daughter. "My father, who is this you have brought here? Not another suitor, I hope!"

wha!? surely not i am a doctor, dr. capulet's the name, nice to meet you *gracious bow*

[Xsesiv]

The girl sees the look in her father's eye, hangs her head, and traipses offstage.

is that why you asked me here?

Yes.....Yes it is......Sorry about that, my daughter can be a bit ungracious at times. I hope you don't mind. But she should soften up to you. Indelfin says trying to be dramatic.

[littlebottom]

ah i see, well is their anything else you need while im here?

[Xsesiv]

Before the lines can even be finished, a strange hooded figure some seven feet tall sprints onstage armed with a club and attacks Indelfin. Ag-20 for Torendil to trip him up, or else you'll have to fight him.

The figure runs past and swings the club, trying to smash Indelfin in the face. The audience love it, but don't realise it's real.

He narrowly misses, then swings the club ridiculously, swings till his arms are wide open, leaving his chest and head exposed.

Indelfin screams. He screams like a little girl. Then turns it into part of the play. I say, you sir are very rude interrupting two fine gentleman on the street like that, en garde! He then pulls out his weapons to "fight" him.

[Xsesiv]

Int test tells you he is clearly making himself available to hit. You assume, as he has done before, the Director is ad-libbing, adding a fight while he waits for a vital actor to turn up. The huge lunatic swings wildly again, with very little chance of impact.

ahhh what is this? the doctor says to try and keep things moving

[Xsesiv]

The strange man leaps forward, impaling himself on Indelfin's rapier, which is clearly not fake. The crowd roars in delight.
