Update 46

[Quest for the Arkenshirt] - Toy Soldiers

After exploring the island some more, the party made their way to the Spookism section where they met a group of sentient dolls. These dolls were created by Mary Price using the power of the ArkenApron, which allows a dollamancer to create dolls that have minds and free will. After the party proved their good intentions by healing some of the dolls, they offered to give the ArkenApron to one of them in exchange for that person creating more dolls, since they have no way of reproducing. Rae suggested they could make a doll who was capable of dollamancy, and Cessie agreed to try.

[The Lengthening Nights] - Bright Eyes

Every night in the slums, people are disappearing. Sometimes their bodies are found later, drained of blood. Though wood is scarce, they always manage to find enough to cremate the bodies. Better that than to take the risk that they'll rise again.

Pots of garlic or hawthorn grow in most windows, and small fragments of mirrored glass are fixed to doors. Painted pebbles line the threshholds of poor homes, meant to symbolise running water, and holy symbols are often carved on doorposts.

The streets are quieter at night. No one steps outside after dark unless they have no choice, though the lengthening nights of this time of year are no friend to the poor. If they must, they carry with them an Ash stake or a holy relic. Hucksters and frauds have made money selling locks of hair purported to be those of the child saint Coralie or handkerchiefs that were dipped in her blood as she lay dying. The stories say that her last words were a prayer against the undead. Symbols of Dalachrech are also common, and people often step aside rather than crush a beetle or a scorpion, hoping for Dalachrech's favor.

[Charity Evans] - "Co... ffeeeeee..."

[Coralie] - Slumber my darling

The little girl from the slums should have been a match for any vampire. She was a powerful wizard in her own right, and as the Maiden incarnation of Eve she had holy protection against the undead.

But Ted Brando was no ordinary vampire. Dangerous and cunning, and trained by Mortal Coil, he was smart enough to just shoot her. The child fell, having time only to call for her mother before she died.

[Darcy] - Note to self: getting involved with a lust cult is not as much fun as it sounds

Still exploring Ashwood Citadel with Zanny and Nancy. They encountered a prisoner named John who asked them to release him from his suffering. Darcy agreed, guessing that it meant she'd need to kill him. She didn't expect it to mean she'd have to saw off his head, but she did it anyway. They're now looking for a portal to send his head through, which will somehow give John peace. Meanwhile, they're still being chased by some kind of scary monster, and Nancy has gone missing.

[Decker] - Reveille!

Unbeknownst to her, Kal was busy murdering Narahar the religion teacher, and demon cultist, while she was in magic class. She's already suspected of the murder by both the Admiral and the cult, which is totally unfair! She totally would have skipped boring boring boring magic class to do some murdering if she'd known!

After boring boring boring magic class, Decker got to go to music class with the Admiral, where she requested to learn the bugle.

[Elias Larmette]

Which Witch summoned Felix and Haruki to help Elias on his rescue mission, and sent them through a portal to the Demonic Citadel. They heard a girl scream, but since it wasn't Hekta, Elias didn't see the point of going that way. His more noble minded companions did though.

[Eve]

Blames herself for Coralie's death and is doubting her long ago decision to seek immortality. So far, another maiden has not been chosen.

[Happy Amakirr] - "Who wants pumpkin pie?"

Babysitting the island children offscreen. Currently teaching them some basic self-defence - mostly how to recognize danger and avoid it, since they're really too young to learn to fight back. Probably will retire there.

[Hannah Snow]

Back in the castle with the Professor and her creepy father fixation on him.

[Lauretta]

Is learning Abyssal as she studies to become a cleric of Dalachrech. Has a crush on Terrowin. After learning of the murder of Narahar, Terrowin decided she needed combat training and equipped her with armor and magic items, including a set of magical bolas.

She also spontaneously developed a backstory. She and her family were captured by slavers when she was a toddler. She has only vague images of her mother, as she was separated from them and raised in slavery. When her owners were killed in the Ebonocalypse, she fled into the streets, maddened by the voices, to be rescued by Terrowin and the other cultists. When she finally came to her senses, she saw the opportunity to finally achieve freedom and claimed the identity of her owner's dead daughter. So far, she's told her true identity to no one but Dalachrech, to whom she is sincerely devoted. Despite her background, she has no scruples against slavery, and finds it convenient having temple slaves around.

[Mainframe] This is not optimal behaviour.

Fretting over the safety of Wenomir and KR during the Slowest. Vandalism. EVER. Still.

[Moff] - "It would be like kicking a puppy. Except it would make me feel bad instead of making me laugh."

While Moff was delivering a panegyric on Butler's virtues, Mary Legion asked why he didn't just go and ask Butler out. Moff was mortified to realize that he actually has a moral line that he won't cross. He knows Butler is straight, and though he's pretty sure he could seduce him anyway, he can't bring himself to take advantage of Butler's sweet nature.

Instead, he went to GLoG with a camera, took a bunch of photos of Butler and Ermine, and had calendars printed, which is making him a fortune. He even gave Butler his share of the money.

[Molly Fitzhenry]

Agreed with Vincent that there is no such thing as magic, though neither she nor Vincent are aware how widely their actual beliefs differ. In music class, she requested to learn the harp or the pianoforte, like a proper Victorian lady.

[Oscar]

Was summoned by Slythynia, his former lover, and was shocked to learn that she gave up her demon side in order to be with him. Especially since it was the demon Slythynia that he had fallen in love with. Neither of them seem ready to renew a physical relationship, though Slythynia finally said that she loved him. Oscar is full of bliss and mourning at the same time, and trying to keep Slythynia from suspecting the latter. He hopes he never lets it slip that he found her much more beautiful as a demon.

[Sunny Evans] - "Can I look at your armor later? I promise not to take it apart... much." >.>

Met a nice halfling at the ISF HQ and made waffles for him, and then sweet talked Vasquez into letting her work on their vehicles.

[Winslow Warwick] - "Now Gunther here is going to throw you out"

Sent Teb's belongings to Magtok in hopes of having Teb ransack the MagCave looking for them. This plan didn't work very well, since Magtok just gave them back. Warwick is very pleased with Gunther's performance at throwing Teb out though.

At least Warwick will get the last laugh at Magtok, when his evil sabotaged cardboard boxes melt into sludge. Bwahahahahahaha!

[Xifra] "He said that you would do things to me that I wouldn't like."

Afraid of Jack but enthralled by him at the same time, Xifra allowed herself to be seduced. She later met a spectre claiming to be Jack's son Jon who warned her that Jack was evil. She defended her decision to trust him, telling herself that whatever bad came of it, she deserved someone who cared for her as a person. Later, her magic lessons with Jack began, and then he left her alone in the Tower. She fell asleep, and the Tower drew her into a dream.

Helped Rabbit dispose of a body, and found a box full of rings. He acquired two of them, but was thankfully warned of their curse before putting either on. Although he kind of guessed it when it jumped out of the box and flew towards him. He has since gone to check out the Nexus Health Center.

Arlem "Dead man walking.

Had several confrontations with Din, including a short time being mind controlled. Once Yersel helped get him free, he managed to remove the same control over Chris, and took a group of people to help rescue Carrie from Din and Evil-Vocusta. He believed he had gotten Din to leave evil, but she immediately expressed intent to return to villainy and murder, so he killed her with Rand's help. Then, she took Theo to the Restaurant Enchante, SAINT, and the hangar for skydiving.

Ayrissa Cormick & Sparky: Currently engaged in furious battle with deadtime, which she is currently starting to win due to player interest in the character.

Alexis: Returned to the Nexus, met up with her old friend Eileen and caught up in what's happened since she's been gone. Found out Eileen joined the military. Ensue minor panic attack. Then encounters her ex-fiance Dani and drama follows

Daniel: Helps Rocky plot to take over the nexus, hires Trix to spy for him. UNSEEN rises.

Xavier: Still trapped in a pocket dimension, for now. Not long now before his release.

Reinholdt
Went to start apologizing to victims of the Apoca-Con. Got as far as #1 when it got a bit much. So went to the Black Dragon Inn for a short break, where he was informed Vasilisa was looking for him. Went there and learned of Coralie's death. Started hunting for the vampire responsible and met up with the Mortal Coil team led by Anatolij.

Continued exploring Earl's fortress, finding various treasures, learning they were trapped and exploring an underground river. Ermine is now invisible entirely and Reinholdt went a little far with his masochism. Met up with a medusa whose eyes had been cut out.

In Beddling, the computer turned on and started affecting those with psionics, driving them to madness and rage. Needless to say, Reinholdt doesn't stand a chance against two angry psychic women.

Managed to find Polemache's secret temple and is waiting there for something to happen.

Reinholdt the Happy
Got pulled from a bag at Thanksmasnewyearskwanzaakkah as Anchor's present. He comes from an alternate dimension where, among other things, Magtok and Butler are the same person, Ermine is a ninja, and is also where Kazia hails from (and may secretly be his daughter).

Butler B. Butler
Went to the Weald in search of a cleaning flower. Has played Santa for various good girls and boys.

Vincent
At NO, he was given a letter from Char which contained a black ring of death, a pair of glasses, and a pair of human eyeballs. Being a human kid of normalness, he freaked out immensely terrified. Then again, I think even normal adults might be a bit freaked. Ended up getting Char expelled and getting a phone.

Nadas Ghuand Xar'Cha
Visited Black Dragon's Inn to inform Raril that he would be sorta ok with giving Raril a chance to be his dad, awkward as it felt. Raril gave him a bunch of glowing scrolls in an unknown language to translate. Is working on that now.

Ilpholin Ghuanaer Xar'Cha
Overdid it at AMEN and though has another minion in Becky, got heat exhaustion and hasn't been seen in AMEN since, recuperating before heading out.

Is in the Thanksmasnewyearskwanzaakkah wearing little and hovering around KR. She tries very hard to not look at the other hot women there.

Is in the Battle Royale thread, wearing a little bit more and challenging KR to a sparring match maybe.

[Quest for the Arkenshirt] *quest completion music*

After the party worked together to create Mel, a dollamancer doll, Cessie gave him the ArkenShirt. The party was rewarded with gems and scrolls, and they returned to the Nexus.

It remains to be seen whether anyone will seek out the ArkenBoots.

[Charity Evans] - "Hot as he--- Gah! You did NOT hear me say that!"

Took a job teaching art at PACK in hopes of getting her art back. How she's going to teach when she can't put pencil to paper is a mystery. She's also drinking on the job, hiding her vodka in a sports bottle. Her first class hasn't started yet, and so far she's roped Jamie, Garret, and Adele into setting up the classroom.

[Darcy] - "DAY-um! I thought only shapeshifters could bend like that."

Darcy and Zanny completed their adventure in Ashwood Citadel by tossing John's head in the portal, and then leaping through themselves, with the idol. They got Nancy back to GLoG where Quinn is treating her.

Later they went to the mall for shopping, where Zanny refused to buy a Mankini. Good choice. Ran into Haruki and Ilpholin, and ogled their calendar. Hawt! But the teasing of Ilphy went too far, and Darcy had to run after her to try and help. She convinced Ilphy that she didn't have to put the sexy calendars on sale to the public, and Haruki agreed to destroy all but a few personal copies.

[Decker the Younger] - "Best! Present! EVAH!"

Decker ran into Kal at the Nexus Battle Royale, where he told her about murdering Narahar, and gave her a present of a skull chalice and bone necklace. And to make it even better, he promised she could help him track the cultists back to their temple! For more murderings!

[Decker the Catgirl] - You've Got a Friend in Me

Future Decker, who became mortal a year ago so she could die and be with Butler, was permitted to return to life for Thanksmas. During a somewhat bittersweet reunion with DC, she apologized for leaving, and said that when Butler had returned to life to balance the see-saw, she hadn't been permitted to come with him because it was suspected (probably rightfully >.>) that she would tip it back too far the other way.

But she convinced Them that though she wasn't all that good at being good, and couldn't spread happiness to everyone the way Butler does, her return would make one person happy: Her best friend, DC.

DC and Decker are now celebrating her return to life with an epic snowball fight. Both are cheating.

[Elias Larmette]

Still trying to rescue Hekta.

Heartbroken after having to tell Reinholdt about Coralie and worried more about him now.

Still on Gersemi's Isle, where Nil, returned to life, came to see her. Needless to say, she was overjoyed.

Has started learning to communicate with invertebrates, and is, in general, a very happy cultist, despite her soul being the plaything of a Demon Lord. Currently at the Nexus Battle Royale, where she's agreed to a match with an elderly woman.

I suspect she's about to get her ass handed to her.

When he picked her up and she poked at his violet ring, an emotional bond was formed between the two of them. Of course, Marisha doesn't understand those weird grown-up emotions, so mostly doesn't pay attention to them, while Pringle keeps finding himself attracted to shiny things.

[Moff] - "Adulterate? With him? Oh puh-leeze, don't you think I can do better?"

Helping Butler and Victor recover a special flower from the Weald. Also making trouble at the Nexus Battle Royale.

[Molly Fitzhenry] - "You're going to Snow Jail now!"

Played cops and snowmen with Vincent. Fun! Asked Sock Clause for soft, brushable hair like a real girl, and for it to be black like ebony, from her favorite fairy tale.

[Roxie] - "You mean there are some problems that can't be solved by having a pet dinosaur?"

After Char sent eyeballs to Vincent, Roxie went into Mama Bear mode and went to PACK to demand that Char be expelled. Despite having never gotten along with Vincent before. But it's kind of hard not to feel protective of a twelve year old boy who is crying in terror.

The Admiral agreed to expel Char, but vetoed Roxie's request to send a pet monster to school to guard Vincent. Plan B was to buy Vincent a phone. Caroline too.

[Tia] I Was Born to Love You

Tia the Inamorata Succubus returns to the Inside, where she runs into a vampire named Gabriel. He proves susceptible to her seduction aura, which makes her susceptible to him in turn. They are behind the curtain less than an hour after meeting, each of them feeding (non-fatally) on the other. Tia is now utterly devoted to Gabriel, and anxious to do anything she can to help him achieve his goals.

When she's not with one of her other lovers, that is. >.>

[Vasilisa]

Vasilisa returned to the Nexus with her children, a two year old human son named Dima and a ten month old catgirl daughter named Marisha. She had to break the news to Reinholdt that Coralie had been murdered. Reinholdt smiled disturbingly and left, though Vasi made him promise to return. She mistakenly thought he was leaving to hurt himself, but he actually was going on a vampire hunt.

[Xifra]

Xifra awoke from her confusing dream to find intruders ransacking Jack's apartment, though unable to see her. She called for SBX, and the robot arrived only to be shot. In fury, she yelled at the intruders, allowing them to see her, then drew a ward to block the elevator entrance.

Dipsnig

Finally got the Admiral's sword back from WATCHTOWER. Sadly, DC put a positive energy bomb in there that neutralized the negative energy effect, rendering the sword mostly useless. Dipsnig now hates DC's guts even though Which the Witch fixed the sword. Also had to deal with Vincent's school situation.

Wenomir

Fought some sort of shadow-thing that somehow managed to make him stab himself with his own sword even though he won the fight. Met Ilpholin and found out just how massive and creepy her crush on KR is. He's not sure how they should handle it. More importantly, he finally started Nexus Battle Royale, aided by his fellow WATCHmen. Is currently in the process of beating up Moff for making trouble.

Michalson

Hanged around AMEN a bit. Ogled the resident ladies. Met Vasilisa and delivered her message to Reinholdt. Is now on a vampire hunt.

Reelshka

Got Quinn to help negotiate between the ever-bickering goblins of Inside who are planning to found their own colony in the mountains. Ran into Shrike and Zamira in the hot springs, much to her embarassment.

Dorotha

Branched out into creating magic items for Erin's Emporium. Went to the Nexus Health Club with Crissy. Is rather embarassed wearing sportswear.

Mark

Still working in PACK. Helped Kal cover his tracks after murdering a teacher there. Mostly because Decker would be mad at him if he hadn't and it'd make his job much harder.

Anatolij

Took his squad to hunt down a Mortal Coil trooper who had become a vampire and gone on a rampage. Put down a minor vampire in Average Joe's Bar and followed the trail to an abandoned house where he met Reinholdt. Investigation of the house is proceeding.

Brinika

Made some more friends at GLoG and got enroled in PACK. Also having fun at the Thanksmas festival. Toby dressed as Santa gave her a magic wand.

Gnome 1: Right, so we're supposed to do what now?

Gnome 2: Uhh... Talk about things?

G1: Yeah but what things?

G2: *Shrugs* I dunno. Something about us and whoever else matters.

G1: Like my cousin Harold?

G2: No, not him.

G1: But he matters to me!

G2: Not exactly what I mean.

G1: Then who?

G2: Uuhh.. That Terumitsu guy/girl/thingy. would probably matter.

G1: Why's that? 'e's never even given us the time of day! Matters as much as a pile of horse dung to me!

G2: No, no! I mean.. Here, I've just got a good hunch about this, okay?

G1: So what do we say about 'em? That 'e eats people while their still alive or that 'es a total bastard?

G2: Um.. I was just gonna say that their recent affiliation with Sszinyon involved taking the drow... Person to the Dreamworld and generally making cryptic statements while the drow had a wacky mind **** of a dream. And then went to Trog's cause nothing interesting was going on for a while.

G1: Short and sweet, huh?

G2: Well... Yeah.. Nothing much happening yet with them.. I could talk about what happened before tha-

G1: Well, I saw Celisil the other day.

G1: Doing pretty good. Told me he met some other Fae a bit ago that he thought were pretty cool.

G1: No, I'm paraphrasing. Anyway, he's mostly been helping out in those makeshift clinics but he does go on walks every now and again to tend to the gardens in the park

G2: Oh yeah! Takes a lot of work, that. Makes me wonder if he ever sleeps.

G1: I don't think he does...

G2: Really? That can't be healthy. Tell him to get some shut-eye next time you see him.

G1: Gotcha on that. Hey, want something to drink? Got a nice brew from the Black Dragon here.

G2: Don't mind if I do... Hey, did you see that newcomer in Trog's today? Looks really weird. Got six eyes and eight limbs and changes color all the time.

G1: Oh really?

G2: Yeah. Seems to be one of the good guys, though. Had some sort of healing foam that they were using to heal up people from a bunch of golems exploding. Was taking care of Zee last I saw.

G1: Oh Zee? Haven't seen her in a bit. Glad to know she's still alive... Hey, noticed that there are a bunch of other people around now? Things are getting noisy again.

G2: Yeah, I know... Most of them seem like nice enough people though. Should hope I can greet them sometime.

G1: Yeah...

G2: Oh, one thing. When you were at the Dragon, did you see that Ghoul person?

G1: Bet I did. She gives me the willies, that one.. I heard she's an assasin now. Helped take out a flying ship of a traitor even! I wouldn't want to get on her bad side...

G2: I don't think she even has a good side..

G1: *Shudders* Yeah, it's only mean or worse... Though her sister isn't so bad.

G2: She has a sister?

G1: Yeah, that Riss person. Very shut in. She's trying to work with Magtok nowadays.

G2: Wait, Ghoul has a sister... and it's Riss? You're pulling my leg, right?

G1: Well, it's only a rumor but... You have to admit that they do have some similarities..

G2: What, that they're both from some technological hell-hole of a world and both have cybernetics?

G1: No! I mean.. Well, it's kinda hard to describe but I think they're actually related.

G2: Pfft. If you say so. Though, I hear Riss got nabbed the other day. Taken to some sort of space ship. Not doing too well, though.

G1: Yeah.. She needs to work on socializing.. Though, knowing what she's been though, I can't help but think that it'll be a while before we see any progress..

G2: Time will tell, won't it?

G1: Yeah.. Hey, what about Nyte or Ispen or that Mr. Spooch fellow?

G2: Stuck in Deadtime last I saw

Died a lot, then injected the essence of an eldritch abomination into himself and went on a destructive rampage, ending with him accidently killing a 14 year old kid. Stricken with guilt, he goes to GLoG where they promptly shoot him in the head and rip off his arm, removing all his powers. After that, he sold all his memories to Witch Which in exchange for being one of the best doctors ever. Currently fighting zombies.

Prince
Entered the Nexus, killed a Magclone, got caught, tortured and enslaved by Moff when he tried to rip out Gordon's eye for a hat.

The Weatherman
Doesn't really do much.

Mercury
Entered the Nexus and signed up on a quest for a hoard of treasure and candy. Ended up doing all the work and deciding to just steal all the treasure for himself, which he did. Sadly, the leader of the quest, Maxios, later started LANTERN and tried to take the money back, refusing to admit he lost the duel over it. Mercury proceeded to open the Nightclub Salvation, and hired Nite, a vampire golem assassin, to lay siege to Trog's and the Black Dragon for him to reduce competition. The siege ended going wrong though, and next thing you know, Mercury tops Inside's hate list. His funeral is currently going on.

Chezchire, Mr. Cat and Arquim
Entered the Nexus, joined AMEN, LANTERN and HALO. Chezchire then proceeded to terrorize Inside, severly wounding two PCs and killing a bunch of NPCs, prompting Arquim to seek Magtok's assistance in getting him put in an asylum.

Nite of Salvation
part one

It was an ordinary night at Trog's...

Well, is any night 'ordinary' really? Of course not. This was no exception. And so a group of golems, led by a sentient vampire golem named Nite arrived to blockade Trog's. Anyone could leave, but no new customers could arrive. Another blockade was set up at the Black Dragon Den.

Why blockade the taverns? The purpose was to drive business to the Grand Opening of a new nightclub, named Salvation, run by a mage named Mercury. It seems Nite owed Mercury a favor, and this was the favor that Mercury called in. Or perhaps extortion and threats were the reason Nite did this task.

Of course the people in Trog's reacted poorly to the blockade. You can never expect PCs to react well. They're overpowered sociopaths to a man. Or woman. Or ooze. Or eldritch horror ripped from the underside of the night and working as a barmaid.

Oh right. The ooze wasn't there that night.

Events were unfolding into a typical barfight when two things happened to set it apart. First, Channel 13 MagNews arrived to cover the event live. And second, Mortal Coil's heavy, a giant-kin named Sue, arrived to have a drink at his favorite bar and discovered all of this.

Mortal Coil is a team of highly trained and superbly equipped soldiers working as a special forces unit for the Acronymian Empire. If you've gotten their attention, you're about to have a very very bad day.

At the same time, in the large walled castle that houses the Perfectly Appropriate College for Kids, a certain Miss Charity Evans was preparing to teach her first art class- though "preparing" is a generous term. She was basically sitting around, drinking vodka and gatorade from a sports bottle and trying to figure out how she was going to teach an art class when she hadn't been able to lift a paint brush in several months.

At this point, Charity made a Very Bad Mistake. She got a text message from a friend that mentioned the blockade. And she turned on the television.

In the same room, two teenage students, waiting for class to start: Garrett, a very sensitive empath and summoner. And Adele de Luca, daughter of the very same vampire golem that was currently blockading Trog's.

One of the puzzling but wonderful things about family is that you can be a bloodthirsty vampire golem doing villainous things, and your innocent teenage daughter will not cease to love you. Adele watched in horror as she saw her father being attacked by angry tavern goers. And Charity realized the magnitude of her Very Bad Mistake.

She couldn't turn off the television. For better or worse, the events must play out in front of Adele's eyes. But there was one thing she could do. She crept into the hall and called her boyfriend: Commander Edijar of Mortal Coil. She told him that her student's father was in the middle of the incident at Trog's and begged him to do something. He promised her he would.

And Charity returned to the television to watch as the love of her life put himself in harm's way, simply because she had asked it of him. Without that phone call, he never would have been on the mission. He was no longer a field commander and worked as an instructor for new recruits. In fact, he didn't have the authority to intervene as he did, usurping the mission and changing it from riot control to extraction. But he violated protocol and the chain of command and put his life and his career at risk, for Charity.

It went remarkably smoothly. The Armoured Personnel Carrier pulled up, Edijar and Sue fired flashbang grenades and sticky rounds to incapacitate the crowd and the non-sentient golems, Nite was dragged into the back of the APC, and the vehicle drove off.

Back at PACK, Charity and the teenagers watched these events, and Charity told them that the men in power armour were Mortal Coil, that they were using non-lethal attacks, that Adele's father might be sent to jail, but that he was safe.

A successful conclusion. The blockade at Trog's was ended. No one was seriously hurt. The blockade of the Black Dragon Den had been ended with no casualties. The denizens of the Nexus were free to drink where they chose.

And then... things got interesting.

Nite of Salvation
part two

Consider Garrett, an empath who has been emotionally bombarded with the panic and worry of two distressed women, one of them being the really cute girl that he has a crush on. Consider that he has significant summoning power and every motivation to use it.

Consider that he's only fifteen years old.

He summoned an air elemental named Sinosure, and sent him to "rescue" Nite from Mortal Coil's custody.

Consider Mercury, the vain mage who set all of this into motion. When he saw his blockades fail, he set off the self-destruct glyphs that he had enchanted into all of the golems. Including Nite.

The bloodshed was horrifying. The non-lethal sticky goo used by Mortal Coil had not yet dissolved, so everyone was held in place to take the full force of the blast. Fortunately for the wounded, a team of vigilante medics arrived, and began to treat people.

Nite managed to suppress the glyph within him, though it hurt him badly to do so. But by this time, he was far from the cameras. Charity and Adele watched in horror as the golems exploded on live television, neither of them having any way of knowing what had become of Nite. An explosion that size inside an Armoured Personnel Carrier would have killed everyone within.

Meanwhile, Sinosure arrived at the APC, and in order to put the vehicle to a stop, pulled the emergency brake, leading to a rear wheel skid, and the vehicle flipping over. Nite escaped, his vampire friends teleporting him away to safety, but not before he told a private investigator that Mercury was the man responsible for the blockade.

Back at PACK, Charity got a phone call to tell her that Edijar was badly injured but alive. She rushed to the clinic, where she had to wait through hours of surgery and suspense, with her sister arriving to provide support. It was there that Sinosure found her, intent on delivering a message and apologizing.

Charity, hungover, emotionally shattered, and barely conscious, was far too exhausted to have a rational conversation. She told the elemental to return to Garrett, and sank into a deep sleep.

When the creature still wouldn't leave, her protective sister Sunny attacked it with a vacuum cleaner, making the elemental angry enough to destroy things and scream insults at the increasingly terrified young woman.

That was when Edijar regained consciousness, long enough to get out of bed and confront the elemental and order it away from the Evans girls, accusing Sinosure of causing the crash and informing him that he had intended to release Nite anyway, once the situation was diffused.

Sinosure freaked out, realizing exactly how badly he'd screwed up, but still refused to leave, insisting on staying until someone would respond to his apology. But no one could. Edijar had collapsed again, having reopened his wounds by getting out of bed too soon. Charity was unconscious. And Sunny was deep in the throes of a panic attack and afraid that she was about to lose her brother in law.

At this point, the alarms had summoned more Mortal Coil members, including a Battle Mage who dismissed the elemental. Edijar was returned to surgery, and Sunny was comforted by a friend - another soldier who promised to protect her and to make sure no elementals could enter.

Meanwhile, Garrett was psychically trying to search for news, and his mind was entrapped by Adele's tutor, a powerful arch-magi named Gulaghar. He searched the boy's memories, threatened him not to hurt Adele, and told him to deliver the message that Adele's father was fine, leaving out the small detail that Nite's legs had been destroyed by rust and that he would never walk again.

Garrett was rather distracted by Ghar's suggestion that Adele liked him, especially after an emotionally exhausting day, and ended up in an awkward kiss with Adele before he remembered to deliver the message. But young love is nothing, if not forgiving.

Elsewhere, those who were hunting Mercury found no sign of him at his nightclub, but when his home was searched, the body of the mage was discovered by his friend and rival Maxios, bloody and beaten, with open jugulars. Maxios suspected Nite, who had every motive, but who was far away and badly injured at the time of the murder. And certainly after all the harm he caused, there remain plenty of people who want him dead. Others fear that the mage found a way to fake his own death, and that soon he will return to reclaim the nightclub that was the reason for so much destruction.

The mystery remains unsolved... for now.

Garrett awaits the return of his idiot elemental Sinosure, and is still unaware that Sinosure caused the crash. He's already aiming to put the moron in a world of pain for not responding in such dire times, but when he finds out what happens...owowowow it hurts thinking about it.
Also, being fifteen, he's awkward as usual.

Edgar is doing his best as a paramedic,but with all the fighting going on, that hasn't turned out to be enough. He seems to be turning to 'the bottle' for help.

Alexander Gray has just been introduced to Nexus, and plans on causing some 'fun'. By 'fun', I mean Dwarf Fortress Fun. For other people.

At Edijar's bedside at the Emergency Clinic's Intensive Care Unit, blaming herself for putting him in harm's way, and still drinking heavily.

After seeing her sister sleeping comfortably while curled up in a bed with Carl, Charity was all 'what is this I don't even' and went to ask Edijar what the boop was going on.

Still trying to rescue Hekta, and freaking out because there's a demon nearby who is making everyone feel like their mother is present and promising love and comfort.

Since Elias killed his own mother at the age of 7, this is not very comforting to him.

Finally was able to convince the vandals to accept a telewarp back to Watchtower. Is unconcerned about the fact that the Magtok clones are being programmed with Y.M.C.A.

The ten month old catbaby just felt the death of Pringle, to whom she had just become emotionally bonded a few days before. She doesn't understand death, but the feeling of loss is enough to break her little heart.

He could have easily escaped after he caused trouble at the Nexus Battle Royale, but it was much more fun to keep provoking Wenomir and KR until they beat the stuffing out of him. He even hit on Wenomir and tried to grab KR's ass.

Moff 2 arrived and dragged him back to AMEN.

Met Adele and Garrett. On learning that Garrett had a friend missing, she concluded that Char must have been the reason. She's now determined to make sure that Char gets arrested.

[Sunny Evans] - Tonight and the Rest of My Life

After the events of "Nite of Salvation", Sunny's agoraphobia has returned so strongly that she can't face even stepping outside the visitor's sleeping quarters at the hospital. With her sister occupied with the badly injured Edijar, Sunny turns to a halfling named Carl Though she can't bear for most people to touch her, she finds herself able to accept contact from him because his size doesn't trigger the terror that he might overpower her. Of course, being a highly trained soldier and member of Mortal Coil, he could snap her in half without breaking a sweat, and she knows that, but phobias aren't exactly rational.

Feeling angry and discouraged that all her hard work to overcome her agoraphobia has been undone, she made a deliberate effort to face her fear of touch by asking Carl to sleep next to her.

[Tia] Too Much Love Will Kill You

Tia the Inamorata Succubus had her mind probed by Gabriel's friend(?) Gulaghar, who wanted to understand her motives. He learned of her transformation into a demon, her other lovers at Kundalin Keep, and most importantly, about her demon master Maelstrus.

Tia didn't realize her mind was being invaded until Ghar touched her psychic link with her Master to try and contact Maelstrus. She felt violated and cried out, which caused Gabriel to awaken and see his love seemingly being threatened by a demon. Ghar pinned him to the wall for his own protection, while Ghar and Maelstrus taunted one another. (Men!)

When Maelstrus was about to leave, Tia kissed him goodbye, enraging Gabriel and nearly causing a fight until Tia grew angry and intervened. Finally alone with Gabriel, she tried to understand why he was so upset and comfort him. At the same time, Gulaghar was inside Gabriel's mind, trying to make him see through the succubus and reject her.

But Tia's charms proved stronger and Gabriel did not push her away, even when she admitted that she needed multiple lovers so that she could feed a little bit on each of them, without putting any of them at risk. This was a very hard thing for him to accept, but it was more bearable to him than being without her.

Afterwards, Tia spend a long time thinking about the problem, and was even a little bit tempted to feed fully from him the next time they made love, to keep him from feeling the pain she was causing him. But in the end, she settled on a different solution.

Xifra proved unable to stop Yann from robbing the Tower. She remains unaware that Jack has been imprisoned in a cave in, and with SBX dead, she is now completely alone.

Nite of Salvation

Part Three

Maxios Baxterofski. Brave. Smart. He has been known to laugh in the face of death on more then one occasion. He knew Nite as a team-mate. He knew Mercury as a backstabbing enemy who stole all the loot from a quest.

During an assault on Mercury, Nite was turned into a golem, and left a guilty Maxios, and LANTERN

After noticing that the golems were at Trog's the night of Salvation opening, Maxios went to Mercury's manors, cautious. There, he noticed that there was no one there. After closer inspection, he found the corpse of Mercury, with the juggular open.
Maxios, as mentioned in part 2, assumed it was Nite. He took Mercury's corpse, and buried it in The Hall of the Fallen. Immediantly, the corpse spoke, stating the location of his will, and demanding to be avenged.

Maxios returned to Mercury's manor, and found the will. It also stated the location of a Scrying Orb that should show who killed Mercury. Maxios ran to the location. The orb showed Mercury getting killed by Nite. Obviously, there are plot holes. The orb had to have been tampered with, as Nite was with his family. There are many questions to will be answered in the next part of "Nite of Salvation!"

In the Name of the Empire

The Acronymian Empire, the largely benevolent yet still militaristic nation with Inside as its capital, has been rather active recently.

First, the company now known as Evolution Industries, formerly Evolution Electronics and Power, has taken over the arms production void left by the destruction of the Acro-Imperial military's former main supplier, K-Corp.

After a bout of AMEN aggression, the Imperial Army, aided by equipment obtained from Evolution, decided it needed to return the favor. The flying castle town Lethargia was finally permanently disabled in a heavy attack by Sanctuary-based aircraft and IA Spec Ops Commandos while a group of IA Heavy Troopers diverted AMEN's attention to their main base.

Later still, in the wake of events described in the Nite of Salvation series, the cyborg Lord Magtok scored a massive propaganda victory against LANTERN, acting as a media representative in an AMEN attack on the organization. Citing the displayed attempts at suicide bombing and blatant disregard for lives of their allies, LANTERN was banned from performing vigilante actions within the Empire. The decision was not aided in the least by Maxios's apparent association with Mercury, the mage reviled throughout Inside.

But before all that, the Empire made a request of the mad scientist Alizarin Viscose in order to shield the City of Inside from the apocalyptic events that so frequently plague the Nexus. He agreed, though there was a great cost to this-and not a monetary one.

The three generators Viscose created were powered by the souls of young children. They were killed in an effort to save everyone else in the city from nightmarish events like those caused by Ebon Mirror.

One of them is now installed in the deepest levels of the Acro-Imperial Army HQ, another in the ISF HQ Sublevel.

The last one's location...well, who's telling?

The city now has a protective shield of sorts against massive apocalyptic effects. It does not eliminate them completely-but their effects will be noticeably less pronounced. If a symptom of an apocalypse is an extreme cold, for instance, it would still be cold, but not nearly as deadly as it could be. If a symptom was the dead rising as zombies, then less corpses would join the shambling hordes.

It is by no means perfect-it's a simple step towards greater safety against those who would end all existence like Calublufiok or Ebon Mirror.

But is it worth the price?

Reinholdt
Went hunting for Ted, the vampire and navigated a small series of traps with Mortal Coil only to get ambushed by a pair of vampires working for Teb who dropped the roof on Reinholdt. Literally.

Let a kobold and medusa go in Earl's Fortress after learning where the treasure should be. Found Defenestrate's old room and is looting it with Ermine. Took a map. Found a ring that allowed him to communicate with a long forgotten prisoner of Watchtower by the name of Malice.

Managed to not get killed by crazy women in Beddling. Let Billy go. Learned the Master has a wacky ritual to summon him. Suggested they go talk to Decker in the Watchtower due to her knowledge of the other planes. Stayed behind to not draw Watchtower's ire and went to inform Happy of their progress before catching up to all his other plot clones.

Is confronting Polemache about his war on Tobias.

Is visiting Care. Supposedly. But probably not at this point.

Returned to GLoG to be accosted by a dwarf before running into a huge argument between Tobias, a paladin, and the rest of GLoG. Seems the paladin wanted to call Tobias in for justice. A fight broke out and Reinholdt threw in some knock-out grenades in order to minimize the damage. It seemed to work alright, though the fight continued until Reinholdt offered to sacrifice himself in Tobias' place. Finally a consensus was reached in which Reinholdt would talk to Tony to barter for a lower sentence. Reinholdt then took his double aside for a long discussion after learning Anchor wished for him for Thanksmas.

Went to Trog's and met with Fenric who told him all about the wonders of Inari. Met with Vasilisa again who had something important to share. She wanted his advice on whether to stop the cycle of surviving in chosen women in light of what happened to Coralie. After determining she's done a great deal more good for the women she picked than harm, he advised against it.

Visited the Thanksmas place and requested that all the people he hurt for Apoca-Con be given something. Santa was so overwhelmed by this request, she leaped into the bag of presents and hasn't been heard from since.

On the way to the Black Dragon's Den, Reinholdt ran into the crumpled form of Raril. Checking to see if he was alright, his chest exploded and Evil-Raril stepped out, a great deal more perfect looking than Raril. Evil-Raril took a shine to Reinholdt and promised fun for him, much to Reinholdt's chagrin as he rushed Raril inside to deal with his injuries and need for warmth.

Reinholdt the Happy
Visited the Taverna Generica and met Wenomir who he's used to as a famous comedian in his world. Talked a bit before heading over to GLoG, where he met Cleo. Got caught up in a fight Tobias had with a paladin and was rendered unconscious. Went into the guest cabin with the other Reinholdt to talk about things and hasn't come back out yet.

Butler B. Butler
Returned safely from the Weald with the ultimate cleaner. Re-Met catgirl Decker in Thanksmas.

Vincent
Finally returned to Pack after some talking with Caroline. And some hugs.

Nadas Ghuand Xar'Cha
Continued working on translating scrolls. Thanks to Kara, learned that they were tax codes of some sort. Resumed working on it with a renewed vigor.

Met Kara, her mother Sunn, and Ker and talked with them a bit.

Ilpholin Ghuanaer Xar'Cha
Attacked Lantern, sorta. Really just stood around and got mind controlled by BunBun. She resisted at first and is aware of what BunBun's doing, but can't stop it. Protected BunBun from the mean lanterns. And AMENites. Has sorta become friends with Rot, what with him being the other minion of BunBun. Slept with Becky and Bell to reward them for petting BunBun.

Finally caught up with KR and gave her Ilpholin's raunchy calender. Though KR's reaction wasn't quite as expected and Ilpholin worried if she overdid it. Interrupted Wenomir's attempt to get KR's help in doing so though, frustrating the demon hunter to no end.

Seduced Kirk, the newest minion of BunBun and set her own usual mental control with him. Read WallChan and it made her cry.

Returned to Watchtower where she met Quinn and Melody and is advising them on what to do with the Jezebelle situation.

Mister Squiggles
Assisted in the attack on Lantern. Is jealous of BunBun. Tried to eat the Pink Raccoon. Helped Moff find Jack. Attacked Dalev. Chittered.

The Admiral
Filing out paperwork at PACK and ensuring the smooth running of the school. Visited Rabbit and told her where Reinholdt could be found.

Was hunting the slums for a snack when he ran into Eira the elf. Learned a bit of her story due to witnesses and managed to escape with her before the anti-vamp riots started happening. On the way back to Sszy's castle, he fed on her, but decided to turn her into his vamp minion in the end, complete with bunny ears and a tail. She now accompanies him in his Burrow and has carrots and blood to drink.

[Barlin]

The scarred elf with magic eyes is preparing to lead a caravan out of the Nexus.

[Charity Evans]

Edijar spoke to Charity about Sunny, and about her drinking problem, and Charity was stunned to learn that Sunny had been working hard to overcome her agoraphobia. And that Charity hadn't even noticed because she'd been drinking so much.

She started making an effort to cut back. To fill the hours that alcohol used to occupy, she started going into the slums with food and clothing for the poor. This led to her painting portraits of the dead, and both of these activities have been helping her to heal a little bit.

Back at school, she spoke to Garrett about his elemental, and after he agreed to get some counselling with Quinn, she told him that Sinosure had caused the accident that injured Edijar. When he seemed hell bent on vengeance, she tried to convince him that violence wasn't the answer.

Then she taught an art class. Yay!

[Darcy Turtle Brightember]

Returned to GLoG with Zanny to check on Nancy and discovered that Nancy was pretty much broken without the Dancer in her mind anymore. But Zanny is trying to heal her with music. Darcy encouraged Nancy to stay at GLoG, and it seems likely that Darcy and Zanny will be staying there for a while too.

[Decker the Catgirl]

Changed text colors for clarity, gave Wenomir some advice about the afterlife, and is now being catlike around in the Thanksmas thread with Butler.

[Elias Larmette]

Still trying to rescue Hekta, and freaking out.

Has been handing out holy water and blessed weapons to people who want to fight vampires. Rescued Michalson from HALO after he was captured by Din. Got advice from Reinholdt.

Sunny found a way to trick her agoraphobia by having a set of power armor made with an air filter, so that she was able to leave the hospital room, but she still has to teleport everywhere from one indoor location to another.

Has been getting closer to Carl, the halfling from Mortal Coil, and even kissed him on the cheek.

Tia promised Gabriel that though she couldn't be fully monogamous to him, she would at least not take any more lovers from the Nexus, and only feed from her demon lovers back at Kundalin. This was still very painful to him, but he recognized that she was trying. Since then, the pair have been following each other around acting like a pair of lovesick teenagers and generally making everyone around them

Hired NOIR to find a cure for her dad, who no longer believes in anything supernatural thanks to Stroffelnburg. Later went to the Thanksmas thread where she asked for poison immunity so she could use her "Poison Ivy" lipstick without passing out herself. Garrett Everett

Garrett Everett has no idea what's going on in this crazy place.
In the week since he was enrolled in the Perfectly Appropriate College for Kids, he's met a wonderful girl, watched massive fights break out on TV, been mind controlled by a vampire, forced to fight a separate consciousness he wasn't aware he had, had an ancient drow/vampire mindmage force his way into Garrett's head twice, uncovered memories his father forced him to forget, and been hit with wave after wave of guilt because of the wreck caused by his air elemental.
Now, with psychic training from the paladin Quinn Druid, a headband that allows him to protect his mind from his own empathic powers given to him by the awesome art teacher Charity Evans, and a knife blessed by the goddess Vasilisa, he prepares for a journey he knows full well he has little chance of surviving.
His quest will not bring his sister back, it will not give him glory, and it certainly won't make him a hero, but he rushes headlong into it all the same.

Plot Like Objects:

[Barlin's Caravan]

After Witless the horse had his leg mauled in a bear trap, Barlin gave him one of the caravan's two restoration potions to heal the horse's leg. Of course it was an ambush. She's now trying to negotiate with the bandits for safe passage, but fears it will come to fighting.

[Ezra's Caravan]

A slave caravan is far from the Nexus, but moving in that direction. Ezra the Centaur captures and breaks the slaves, while Purna the dark elf priestess seems to contribute nothing to the caravan. In actual fact, she's the reason the caravan has never run into serious trouble over the years, as she has trained her slave boy to use powerful drugs to enhance his natural ability as a seer. He leads the caravan to easily captured slaves, and away from trouble.

However, unknown to everyone, the boy has formed a powerful friendship with a captured fae girl. The fae takes poorly to captivity, resorting to furious rage and defiance at all times. The grass he brings her enables her to heal her wounds, ease the pain of her cold iron collar, and maintain her connection to the earth. Without it, she'd have probably slipped into catatonia and then death.

The seer boy lies about one of his visions and directs the caravan to head towards the Nexus, knowing that they are opposed to slavery, and hoping for a chance at freedom for the fae girl.

Characters

[Ashley]

New character: An astrologer who was out observing the lunar eclipse / winter solstice. She believes that the blood red moon may be a sign that vampires have a new source of strength as the days grow longer.

[Charity Evans]

At Pack, Charity ran into Alex, who was searching for Garrett and Sinosure. After trying to resolve the situation peacefully, other people started a fight. She agreed to meet with Alex later and gave Jamie and Adele detention.

That's when she noticed that Garrett was missing and put the school on lockdown.

She met Alex at Trog's and privately determined he was a complete nutcase. She said she would give Garrett a message from him, but has no intention of doing so. She had a panic attack triggered by a gun fired at Trog's, and then being confronted by Gordon, and Alex defended her and helped her calm down. And accidentally revealed to her that he was a vampire.

Eventually Charity went to the ladies room and portaled away without saying goodbye. After debating within herself whether to conceal the incident from Edijar, she finally decided to do the right thing and tell him.

In general, aside from that bad night in Trog's, has been doing a lot better mentally and is cutting back on the drinking.

Also acquires a new text color when I realize I have too many people speaking in blue.

Stole power from MagMart, Magbots, MagBrains, and every unsecured computer in the Nexus in order to prevent Magtok's memories of Aryssia from being erased when she died and her reality and existence was removed from time.

I never realized Mainframe was that powerful.

[Moff 4]

Finally rescued Jack. Well, okay, Ar did most of the work, but good luck getting Moff to admit that.

[Moff 13]

Made a deal with Dalev to do a mission for him in exchange for John Lennon's soul. After expressing skepticism, he got the payment in advance, then went to put it in AMEN for safekeeping. Of course, Moff Prime stole it from him and kicked him into a pit in the Yellow Road.

After falling for centuries, the now thoroughly insane Thirteen popped out of a portal next to Dalev. "It was so long ago. I remember agreeing to go into your service for... something. Then Prime stole the payment and threw me into a pit of mystery. I don't know how many centuries I fell, Master. But I remember it was you - you were the only one who was fair to me." Thirteen croaks. Dalev of course was delighted to have a new minion.

[Aunt Riley]

The not-entirely-sane vampiress moved into Vampire Manor and learned things were not well with Gabriel.

[Sunny Evans]

Got some nanites from Shawna to help Edijar. But is otherwise offscreen.

[Tia]

The stress of trying to be quasi-monogamous has taken its toll on Tia. After an eager young vampire, attracted by her aura, was coldly murdered by Ramiro for disrespect, Tia fled to Kundalin. Her first instinct was to leave Gabriel completely, but she couldn't bring herself to do it, and she left a note promising to return.

Gave Garrett holy water, a blessed knife, and a protective blessing as he set out to get vengeance on the vampire who killed his sister.

Angie left HALO not really quitting her job, just figuring they really didn't need a leader. She left without packing any of her few belongings, only asking Grant to return the communicator BR gave her. Now she wanders the slums using her powers to stay hidden, and healing any injuried people she can find. She has been using the Drug Luhix which causes extreme pain followed by numbness. But she has run out of funds to buy it.

She keeps her empathic powers open sensing mass changes in emotions in the slums, and on occasion uses her powers to try and spread calmer happier emotions.

Fighting Ted's women.

Found some more treasure in the back of the wardrobe in Earl's fortress. Managed to recover the medusa's bow and will likely search her out soon, learning only medusa can use it and not being good at a bow anyways. Moved on to the main treasure room, which proved to be trapped. Reinholdt contemplated ways to bypass it when Ermine tried to open a secret door too quickly and got jabbed with poison. Reinholdt dropped what he was doing to fly the now naked human Ermine to GLoG, getting Quinn to fix her up. Learned her alcoholism was taking a toll too and told her to relax the drinking and rest up a few days before heading out.

Is confronting Polemache about his war on Tobias.

Fought with Reinholdt Clone. It seems the two rather detest each other. Darcy threatened to snap both their necks, but Tobias ended up getting them free and Reinholdt Clone stormed away afterwords.

Reinholdt tended to Raril before agreeing to follow Vice so they could keep tabs on him until figuring out if Raril needed Vice back in him or something. Vice managed to convince Reinholdt to have a drink. A really, delicious, pain inducing drink that soon turned into a drinking game which Reinholdt lost horribly. When Raril showed up, there was much guilt tripping. Raz stepped forward to defend Reinholdt and Raril went berserk attacking Raz. Reinholdt tried to stop the two from fighting, ending up attacking both, but getting caught in an infinite spatial loop. He particularly mad when Raz shot Raril's legs just when things were calming down. By the time Reinholdt got free, Raz was gone though, so Reinholdt went upstairs after Vice, intending to get him to undo the corruption. When he didn't he decided to kill Vice. Vice successfully manipulated his way into guilting Reinholdt into actually apologizing for that. Reinholdt then passed out on Vice's bed, sleeping off his stupidity.

Fez Hat Reinholdt
Fought with Reinholdt Clone. It seems the two rather detest each other. Darcy threatened to snap both their necks, but Tobias ended up getting them free and petting FHR. *purrr*

Went to a party. Ended up saving Ember's life and picking back up how to complete massages. Spurned a whole lot of wanton advances by the semi-clad women due to being too risque for him.

Butler B. Butler
Ran into Ermine and provided her with some rum after learning she's returned everything she might have taken that belonged to someone else.

Went to the Taverna and had some awkward moments with Haruki. Also met Miss Flickers, a flaming wolf, who is her new best friend. She'll never replace Mister Squiggles of course, who is her BEST best friend. Talked with her a bit after finding the top of Watchtower's waterfall.

Met some people. Chittered. Working on his and Ilpholin's wedding present for Magtok.

The Admiral
Ran into the Time spirit and learned two of her buddies were missing. Intending to drop by Trog's later anyways, he asked around in hopes of earning some favors from the power rangers. Ran into Ivaz there who told him how to bind spirits.

Annie
Traveling with Caroline.

Mister Buttons
Sleeps a lot. Got his soul drained by fire!Cerise. Is sad. But Mikani makes things better with pets.

Doctor Stroffelnburg
Desperately hiding from his attackers. Ilyena came in search of him, but when the mage learned of the nullifying effect of the area and that the place would soon be covered with hostiles due to the attack lead by NO, he left with the others.

Paul the Walrus
Fought the attackers, but failed. When given the choice of providing the killing blow, the group chose to pass in favor of fleeing before reinforcements arrived. They barely escaped, but got away with all members and Tom and Magtok intact.

Tried converting a tiefling theif; failed. Went to the Battle Royale, but didn't fight anybody. Talking to Samantha.

Jorje Hargonnen

Defeated Din in a battle of theology, with Lauretta's help. Jorje would have preferred to defeat Din with his magic club. But that's bad publicity, so it's probably better this way.

Morbit

Escaped from Len; now has gills. Bit a telepath, gained telepathy. Is green, rat-shaped, scaled, with a pig-like head and six legs. Bit Din, gained opposable thumbs. Bit a baby, now has a cat-tongue.

Pontius Montifex Dathrii

Converted Nite into an ebony golem. With some plywood, but mostly ebony. Invented theory that maybe ebony can be healed by vampires; mostly so he could sell cheaper wood in an experimental procedure. Except the wood used was more expensive than the iron being replaced and the stone also suggested.

Nephrim

Helped LANTERN in a seige of Mercury's mansion; was paid. Received magic collapsible halberd. Crashed into a village of Georgists, worshipping a sky god. Converted them (with mind control) to worship of Pazuzu. Very funny people, those villagers. Used one of them as a host for Dam'Bul; now has a permanent supply of 'volunteers' because Dam'Bul dies a lot. Investigating a wind spirit with aims to bind it to her into the service of Pazuzu. But mostly the service of Nephrim.

Erin
Congratulated Tobias on his getting back together with Ori, despite her crush on him. Also finally got around to fixing up the Dup-o-Matic and resolving the Mike vs Angela dilemma in the only way her consiense would let her: permamently duplicating herself. That way, each of her would be half-hurt, and nobody else would...the operation was successful, and she is currently in HALO with her personality somewhat...unstable. And also waiting on Angela to reappear.

Aeryn
The aforementioned 'permament duplicate' of Erin, who has taken over the Emporium and is waiting for Mike to reappear to give him the good news. Seems to be more stable and meek than Erin-Prime.

Also helped Ana with adjusting to the very different life of the Nexus.

In addition, is in plot! Saving Delta from the manipulative, sadistic ~~Weird~~ Al. Round One didn't go too well, after meeting Delta while patrolling the Slums for vampires with Alexis. Nearly killed one vampire as a three-way team, then headed back to Trog's where Al caught up with them and sweet-talked Delta in to returning with him. Dani, who has seen (and lived with) Al's type before wasn't amused, and blasted both him and Ivaz, his associate. Who then betrayed Al and led Dani and Alexis to him. Where she nearly got to save a brainwashed/reprogrammed Delta, she and Al teleporting away at the last second before his home self-destructed. She did put a plasma bolt through his heart though as he departed. Is currently at Trog's with Al's new address, waiting for Round Three.

Patty
Was told by Matt that although he forgave her and loved her, his paladin code was now first place in his heart, and, thus, their engagement was off. Was heartbroken (even more so when she later heard Matt and Civvy sweet-talking in the kitchen...) but might be rebounding with Rosier - *cough* Robin. Who, surprise, turned out to be the dad of her baby son Brian instead of Matt,who she's now tending to and who is the sweetest most adorable newborn ever, just ask her.

Following the Ebonpocalypse, was found by Zamira in the wreckage of the airship and nursed back to health - and to sanity, repudiating the Neverborn and regaining her Solar status with the help of Karen, another old circlemate. Is still deathly afraid of enclosed spaces, though, which puts a bit of a crimp in her and Zamira's fun. Is also planning their wedding, helped fight off an alien invasion ("most fun I've had in ages"), and just helped kill Mushroom Spider Zombie Facehuggers in the Black Dragon's Den, learning in the process that Yaza made Wenomir's sword. Is debating splitting the joint before Raril discovers the damage.

Quinn
STILL off on the Jezebelle's Heart quest in Riverside with Melody and Cathy. After having made the mistake of visitng WATCHTOWER for help, meeting Ilpholin, and being in a closed room with the nymph...pheromones leading to a predictable result. Heartbroken, she's pouring herself into the quest...

...while, back at GLoG in an uncertain continuity state with regards to the events at WATCHTOWER, she successfully helped free Nancy from the influence of the Dancer, a far-critter, and is currently helping her beat her addiction and learn the true meaning of Christmas, er, I mean being good. Also helping more people join GLoG.

Jamie/Mikani
Has been learning like mad at PACK (mostly offscreen), and seems to be forming a new circle of friends/team: Molly the wind-up girl, Zel the Kinetic Base, Alysha the peppy non-bity vampire/Keyblade wielder, Brinika the goblin, Mister Buttons the sabertooth tiger...wait, what?

Crissy
Still brunette, still torn between Connor and Kevin. Had a good time with Dorotha at the health tub, introducing her to swimming and smoothies. Plans to go back often.

Brendan
Helped a group of (good) vampires as part of the deal he made to save Ashna's life, and has, in general, been having a happy life. Has no idea his wife (in werewolf form) is currently hanging out with Ilpholin.

Shawna
Acted as security at the Nexus Battle Royale, healed Jeremy, and has given Sunny a syringe of nanites with which to heal Edijar. Hasn't done much else.

Val
Brought Plum back to life (arguably against her wishes) following/during the violent break-up of Atorre. Dubbed the 'Broken One' Luke, and is waiting for Seren to come back via cloning (she assumes). Is supervising airship construction and maintiance mostly offscreen.

Marcie
Is waiting for word from Eileen on the fate/rescue plan for Drew, and is falling more and more for Tavlii. Had a romp in the rain and a debate on how best to clean leaves, then panicked when she vanished. Found Tavlii at the Temple of Inari, debated the price of koi in China, then shared a kiss before heading back to the Island of the Coconut bees. THE D'AWWPOCALYPSE COMETH.

Is still deathly afraid of enclosed spaces, though, which puts a bit of a crimp in her and Zamira's fun. Is also planning their wedding, helped fight off an alien invasion ("most fun I've had in ages"), and just helped kill Mushroom Spider Zombie Facehuggers in the Black Dragon's Den, learning in the process that Yaza made Wenomir's sword. Is debating splitting the joint before Raril discovers the damage.

Quinn
STILL off on the Jezebelle's Heart quest in Riverside with Melody and Cathy. After having made the mistake of visitng WATCHTOWER for help, meeting Ilpholin, and being in a closed room with the nymph...pheromones leading to a predictable result. Heartbroken, she's pouring herself into the quest...

...while, back at GLoG in an uncertain continuity state with regards to the events at WATCHTOWER, she successfully helped free Nancy from the influence of the Dancer, a far-critter, and is currently helping her beat her addiction and learn the true meaning of Christmas, er, I mean being good. Also helping more people join GLoG.

...and is ALSO off on a plot to save both Vulpania and Toby's sanity...

Jamie/Mikani
Has been learning like mad at PACK (mostly offscreen), and seems to be forming a new circle of friends/team: Molly the wind-up girl, Allie the sort-of-ghost, Zel the Kinetic Base, Alysha the peppy non-bity vampire/Keyblade wielder, Brinika the goblin, Mister Buttons the sabertooth tiger...wait, what?

Crissy
Still brunette, still torn between Connor and Kevin. Had a good time with Dorotha at the health tub, introducing her to swimming and smoothies. Plans to go back often.

Brendan
Helped a group of (good) vampires as part of the deal he made to save Ashna's life, and has, in general, been having a happy life. Has no idea his wife (in werewolf form) is currently hanging out with Ilpholin.

Shawna
Acted as security at the Nexus Battle Royale, healed Jeremy, and has given Sunny a syringe of nanites with which to heal Edijar. Hasn't done much else.

Val
Brought Plum back to life (arguably against her wishes) following/during the violent break-up of Atorre. Dubbed the 'Broken One' Luke, and is waiting for Seren to come back via cloning (she assumes). Is supervising airship construction and maintiance mostly offscreen.

Marcie
Is waiting for word from Eileen on the fate/rescue plan for Drew, and is falling more and more for Tavlii. Had a romp in the rain and a debate on how best to clean leaves, then panicked when she vanished. Found Tavlii at the Temple of Inari, debated the price of koi in China, then shared a kiss before heading back to the Island of the Coconut bees. THE D'AWWPOCALYPSE COMETH.

Helped rescue Jack Empty, and has an odd gap in her memories at the end of said rescue. Hasn't been with Ilpholin much lately, but enjoys the company of Bell, even as Kara works on her fear of relationships. Also enjoys setting Rot on fire and snark-matches with Moff. Pick a Moff, any Moff. Seems to have an odd sisterly relationship with henchwoman Pink, even if it's only one-sided.

Susan
Following her failed attempt at assassinating Future!Theo in an attempt to preserve the timeline, was healed at WATCHTOWER then went into NPC sulking for awhile. Has recently reappeared at the Black Dragon's Den...

Reinholdt
Is confronting Polemache about his war on Tobias. Things have degraded to fighting and Karen just dropped a building on them.

Fighting Ted's women.

Reinholdt went to the Black Dragon Inn to try and return the bow to the medusa but ended up fleeing from a mushroom zombie, absolutely terrified he had been infected, the fear of becoming undead flaring up. Ran to Trog's where he met Dani and Din. Was interrupted however, but running into Rabbit again. He talked to her and learned she didn't even know who he was and he had to tell her everything again from the beginning. Ended up locking himself in a room and breaking a lot of things in extreme frustration and sorrow, including his own hand.

Returned to GLoG where Ermine rushed him in to get treated by Quinn. Afterwords, told Ermine he thought they should stop hanging out together out of various fears that returned in full force upon seeing Rabbit again. Ermine convinced him to stay friends and keep treasure hunting. There were several awkward silences that resulted.

Later met Alexander Moth who requested his idol back. Asked by Quinn to determine more about the idol. The wolf-like idol turned out to hold the remains of Dawnwolf, a spirit trapped there by Helios. Talked to Nancy and got an affirmation of this information. Learned that Alexander was possibly torturing souls and is considering making a move against him. Assured the idol it would have no more masters and he would try to help it escape.

Went to HALO after reading the Herald to find out a bit more about the base and Tobias. Seems Tobias' timeline is split and the one at HALO is the older one. Offered to provide HALO with knowledge of evildoers in the future. May go back there and alert them to Alexander's presence. Met up with Angela for the first time since their initial encounter. She seemed interested in Treasure Hunting of all things and Reinholdt offered to show her how should she find a place to go. Learned Tobias was her dad and nearly died right there. Resisted all her wily charms. Left, but in a foul-ish mood as Ponera's envy slowly eats away at him.

Returned to the Black Dragon Den and talked to Angie some before giving her some money. Waits there for the medusa.

Fez Hat Reinholdt
Explored Moth Park and ran into some really creepy things before finding this CD that seemed in perfect shape. Took it to the library to examine the contents. Seems there was a murder or suicide hanging of some sort there.

Butler B. Butler
Talked to some people. Met Serena and Nancy and they got into a bit of a secret fight over him that he didn't get at all. Cleaned the Watchtower and GLoG with super cleaner and made everything shiny. Super-hugged by Vidalia who thought him kidnapped for some reason.

Vincent
Studying for exams. Learned Bianca kidnapped Butler and Vidalia thinks she's an onion and is a little frightened of both of them despite their reassurances.

Nadas Ghuand Xar'Cha
Translating tax codes. Meeting some people.

Traded some presents. Tried out her new Cat-o-nine tails on Kirk behind the curtain. Struck up a deal where she'd try to seduce Moff into changing his interests away from males only. Her absolute favorite present though was a music box given to her by Miss Flickers.

Met with Rabbit after her run in with Reinholdt and talked a bit. She ended up favoring him with a cheek kiss, but nothing else happened.

Moff 4 laughed at Kirk after Ilpholin abused him, then dared Ilphy to try and seduce him. The way he sees it, he either gets to one-up Ilpholin, or he gets hawt nymph sex. Win-win! Then he kissed Kirk and hauled him off to the infirmary to treat his wounds. Because Kirk is totally hawt. Otherwise, he'd have left him to bleed.

Tia returned to Gabriel, after feeding well at Kundalin Keep. Somehow rolled a natural 20 on her will save to resist Kal's considerable charms in the Thanksmas thread. She and Gabriel exchanged gifts, and danced together, making Tia start to realize that Gabriel loves her in a way that Maelstrus never will.

Of course happiness never lasts, and soon Gabriel was fighting for his life after being poisoned by another vampire. He survived, and Tia discovered her previously unknown killer side when she nearly murdered the dominated human who had unwittingly delivered the poison.

[Vasilisa] and family

Still hanging around the Nexus with her kids. Marisha is still seeing the ghost of Pringle and demanding that he come back.

[Winslow Warwick] and family

Winslow confronted Arthur about his lack of progress in creating any sellable work, and dismissed his claims that nothing he made can be replicated because it defies the laws of physics. When he discovered Arthur was selling his prototype weapons on the black market, he scolded him for not coming to him to learn how to cook the books properly. Then he gave Arthur a Thanksmas bonus, promised to supervise him more closely, and ordered him to go home and spend time with his family.

Meanwhile, Willow, who has a bit of a crush on Arthur, gave him a nice set of tools, and freaked him out when she helped him tidy up and seemed to know where all his equipment should go.

At the Warwick home, Tom Godlark showed up, desperate to escape all the MagClones who he believes to be imposters. Warwick and Tom commiserated over being the only two sane men in the Nexus, while Willow poison-kissed her brother to keep him from upsetting them.

[Xifra]

At Trog's with Jack, where she revealed more of her backstory to him. When he learned she had never received a gift before, he gave her one of his Objects, though he didn't reveal its importance to her. He then started teaching her more magic, and she's currently trying a binding spell on Crae.

between heavy drinking, and acctually feeling good for a change, Din is pretty worried about her girlfriend, who was kidnapped by her father ( a God of death) and was replaced by a version from a alternate Dimension, who is indecently a neko, and regards Din as her mistress. had a few arguments with the clergy of Dalachrech while in trogs, and is now in the hands of Lauretta, after she "saved" her from two thugs, and is now tending to her wounds

Summer recieved a letter from her sister recently asking her to join her in her persuits. her sister Talon ( her real name is himawari) was a slave too, just as summer was, but was set free, and joined the slaves, now leading a raiding party of 50. After summer refused to join her, Talon was not pleased, and Summer was taken by force. Saved by her friend Meidani, summer was rescued, but lost her left eye in the process . she now has a glass eye, and has lead reinholdt around HALO

Year End Update - Charity Evans (IC time, about 3 years)

After the Felinan Invasion, I spent a lot of time at Trog's, getting **** faced and finding interesting people to spend the night with. I don't remember a lot about that time, which is kind of hilarious because the images I was actually trying to forget are still etched in my memory, in perfect clarity. Like the catgirl laying on the ground with flies crawling on her eyeballs.

War! What is it good for? Turns out it's very very good at leaving corpses everywhere.

But hey! Alcohol and free love, right? The Nexus seems to lack any serious social nanny movement, poking into people's bedrooms, and that's just fine by me. Okay, well Brendan scolded me a bit for being promiscuous, but I yelled at him right back for being judgemental, so it worked out fine, I think. And I made a lot of good friends during those days, some of whom became curtain-buddies. I pretty much got into the habit of never spending the night alone.

Then there was a friend of mine who got it into his stupid head to lead a stupid attack on the Empire. Got his stupid ass killed, along with all the idiots who went with him. I tried to stop them, but they were all ready to die for freedom and glory or something.

War! What is it good for?

So then one night at Trog's, I saw the Empire bastard who had butchered the rebellion and told him what I thought of him. And he turned to look at me, and his eyes were empty. As empty as the eyes of the catgirl who haunted my nightmares. "I'm already dead." he told me.

We ended up getting trashed together and getting a room. Edijar had just lost his wife and unborn child, and for that night at least, I was the thread keeping him from falling into the abyss. So I held him, and cried with him, and hated him, and forgave him. Maybe that night helped him turn the corner. Or maybe if it hadn't been me, it would have been someone else. You can drive yourself mad thinking of might-have-beens.

We spent some more time together, off and on. I let him know that I didn't do relationships, but that I was available if he ever needed a companion for the night. And eventually, maybe 4 or 5 months after we met, he took me up on it.

And for maybe a year or so after that, that's all it was. One of us would call the other, I'd go to his place, or we'd get a room somewhere. I didn't even notice that I'd started keeping more and more of my things at his place, or that I was spending less and less time with any of my other male companions. As a couple, me and Edijar didn't make any sense. A soldier and a pacifist? Ridiculous. The only explanation I ever came up with was that our broken places seemed to fit together somehow.

Then there was the day I found the christening gown that had been meant for his baby. And that's when it hit me like a bad hangover that I'd let myself fall for this man, and I needed to get out. Of course he didn't let me go, and then it all came out about my fiancé and the ectopic pregnancy and the botched surgery that ended up leaving me sterile and how it ended up being too hard for me and Ryan to stay together after that.

After that, I stopped trying to fight it. We moved in together. I introduced him to my sister - and that's a whole 'nother story.

Then the coup d'etat happened. Edijar had to flee the city with the other Vyrn loyalists, and I fled with him. We hid out in Basil's cabin for a while. Edijar kept himself busy adventuring. Time passed.

War! What is it good for?

Another war. This one led by a necromancer who plunged the city into the Shadowlands, with zombies everywhere. Edijar and I were separated. I started drawing portals to evacuate people from the city, and he joined up with his old unit to fight to keep the supply lines open.

I burnt out my magic that night. And when I woke up, Edijar was there. He made up his mind to tell me that he was going back to work for the Empire. And this is where a better person than me would have told him that he had to do what was best for him, and that he had my full support no matter what. I hated hearing it. I thought about begging him not to, even considered making an ultimatum. But I didn't. I guess I was too scared he would choose his job over me.

So while he was busy rebuilding his life, mine was falling apart. Not only was my magic gone, but I couldn't even draw. Every day, I'd kiss him goodbye and as soon as the door closed behind him, the fear would start building that I'd never see him again. And so I started drinking again. Not that I'd ever stopped, but now it was less of a hobby and more of a calling.

I took a job teaching art at PACK, and my first day was the day of the Trog's blockade. All that's been written up elsewhere, so I won't bother. But that was the closest I'd ever came to losing Edijar. I couldn't have gotten through those hours at the hospital if Sunny hadn't been with me.

Yeah. Sunny. All the time I'd spent trying to solve my problems with vodka, she'd been solving her own with hard work and guts. And I hadn't even seen it.

So I cut back on the drinking. A lot. It hasn't exactly been easy. Maybe that's why Santa gave me my colors back for Thanksmas? Whatever the reason, it feels good to be able to paint again. And I thought, if Sunny can work past her nightmares, maybe I can do. So I've been memorializing the dead, starting with the pretty Siamese catgirl who has been haunting my nightmares. And trying to help the people in the red zone. And when I really need a drink, I try to paint instead. Or at least only have beer instead of vodka.

I feel like I've been drowning in fear, ever since the Felinans died. And maybe I still am. But then I look at my little sister and realize that if she can learn to swim, maybe I can too.

Dipsnig

Led the NO members to fight the AMENites off the buried Jack Empty. AMEN being what it is, they got swarmed by powerful people and Jack was freed. When things started to look bad, Raz teleported everyone outside NO HQ. AMENites fled, but Jack stayed, taking Atoya hostage. The thief was freed and Jack was seemingly obliterated by concentrated fire from the turrets and NO's fireball wand. What NO doesn't know is that he got away. Dipsnig was then bothered by a supremely annoying mage from AMEN, who ran away after being peppered by the turrets' bullets. The whole mess claimed the life of an NO member, whose allergy to magic proved fatal in combination with Raz's teleportation magic. Some strange effects wiped her memory from everyone's minds. If it hadn't, the goblin would be even more angry at AMEN than he already is
After that, Dipsnig went back to running NO as normal.

Wenomir

Elisted Tobias and KR to help him look for his sister's spirit in his world's afterlife. Had to kill a demon and give its head as payment for a way of getting there. Currently he's facing the shadows of the various people he killed. KR is serious, Tobias is making wisecracks.
He also spent some time arguing with Shrike and Zamira in Black Dragon's Denn, claiming that the whole premise of Exaltation is flawed and Creation is inherently horrible from a common mortal man's point of view. Neither side seemed convinced by the other's arguments. Then parasites attacked and Wenomir helped fight them off. After the fight, he found out his sword's made out of material connected to the Solar Exalted, but modified by their world's bizzare version of demons. Is not sure what to think about that.
Finally, he asked Shawna to talk to LANTERN and was pleasantly surprised by the results.

Michalson

Got involved in the influx of vampires into Inside by trying to kill three of them. Sadly, he underestimated the ferocity of the vampire-lovers and was overwhelmed. He was brought to HALO by a priestess. After making his escape from their holding cells, he was confronted by a crossbow-wielding resident and would have died had it not been for his goddess' intervention. Vasilisa also told him that one of the vampires he had targeted had died, making him happy.

Reelshka

Is alternating between a quiet life at GLoG and getting involved in the goblin politics.

Dorotha

Working in Erin's Emporium. Also went to the Nexus Health Club with Crissy. She liked it there, despite being embarassed by wearing sportswear and swimsuits and plans on going back.

Brinika

Having fun with her friends at GLoG. Also singing at the Thanksmas festival. Plans to ride Mister Buttons.
