Pokemon of the Ioa Region: Pokemon Alchemy edition
So I am making a Pokemon hack over the summer. I hope to have at least 152 new Fakemon for it, and the region itself will be a much more surreal region. It will include Undine Sciences (a rival of Sylph Co.) who's president could easily give Cave Johnson a run for his money, Gym Leaders that follow unique themes, and Pokemon that are a combination of "Aw Yeah Cool" and laughing.

THE STARTERS

Leafether (Grass/Flying)- Leafether is the Hummingbird Pokemon. He must eat a lot of honey within a day to keep running. Upon evolution, he includes meat into his diet, becoming Frondhawk. Upon final evolution, he becomes Petlcoatl, a large bird like plant that brings up images of forgotten gods.
Kitorch (Fire)- A cute little kitten, Kitorch is a pure Fire type. He eventually grows into a larger striped cat, Catorch, then the Fire Liger Pokemon, Liferno.
Shrimtol (Water) - Shrimtol is the Shrimp Pokemon, with a claw on his right and a small water cannon on the left. He then becomes Rifrab, just becoming larger and stronger, then becoming the strong Water/Steel type Lobstazooka, a large spiky crustacean with two large cannons on the larger half of each claw and one coming out of it's back.
PSUEDOLEGENDARES

At the moment, we are considering two Psuedolegendary lines, one mirroring Dragonite but becoming an Asiatic dragon as opposed to a European one, and a knight/lion, to be a dark mirror to Kitorch (starting as Steel, then evenutally Steel/Dark.)
LEGENDARIES

We know we want 4 different sets of legendaries: One you have to chase, ala The Dogs, two families you can hunt down (like the Birds), and the mixed bag kind (Mewtwo, Mew, Celebi, Genesect, etc). We have the two stationary families ready.
The Elephants- Legends in the Ioa region say that the world is held up by 4 Elephant Pokemon: Thundarika, who creates the lightning and supports the clouds, Tsumunda, who holds the bowl that holds the oceans, Blazana, whose fires create new land, and Sporatika, who is incharge of making the plants and forests and swamps. But some legends mention a fifth Elephant, who left to help the people learn to care for the Pokemon and the Pokemon to care for the humans. He is only known by his name, no pictures exist: Egavata.
The Horrors - Before Arceus made Sinnoh, before there were Pokemon at all, there were the Elephants and the Horrors. The Horrors were said to come from beyond the stars, and each was terrifying. In Tsumunda's waters lives Cthorren, sleeping and waiting to flood the lands with black waters. Under the ground in the fires of Blazana lives Inferuga, who if he so much as breathes the air the world will be immolated. Haslectru, whom you should never say the name of three times, lives in the Clouds of Thundarika, and ready to strike down those who speak his name at all of he hears them on the winds. Ecthula is said to kill the forests Sporatika wishes to protect so much, and that just being near him will caused flesh to rot. Twilathoth lies sleeping in the sky past the stars, sent back by Egavata, Arceus and Mew, with what is said to be three hundred fourteen Canasings around it, singing constantly to keep it asleep. They say even all 5 Elephants could stop it, if anyone could even find the fifth Elephant.
OTHER MONS
The Four Beetles
- Lintato
Spoiler
Lintato is based on a potato beetle larvae, then pupae as Tintato, then finally a full sized beetle as Decimtato. The 'tatos are all Bug/Grass types, and love Potatoes even more than Berries. Many can be found with Leftovers of their potatoes.
- Mininae
Spoiler
Minimae is based on the Bombadier beetle, and is a Bug/Fire type. It evolves into Podinae, another cocoon type, then Pyranae, a large fire spewing beetle with fierce horns. It's bright red colors are intriguing, but some are said to have a gold coloration.
- Roachoa
Spoiler
Roachoa, unlike the other beetles, has no pupae stage. Instead, it evolves into the overweight roach Fattodea. However if you can raise it's beauty, and therefore it's self image, it will become Portennhiss, a large Bug/Poison type that has a access to some of the more devistating moves out there.
- Talgrub
Spoiler
Talgrub is a small Bug/Ground type grub with a chalky white coating of talc on it's body. It actually produces this talc until it's eaten enough ground to form a shell of cobalt and become Cocoobalt. Eventually, under the cobalt cocoon, it will crack through with mandibles made of hyperdiamond, becoming Scarabite.
Whomi
Spoiler
The psychic type Whomi is also called the Time Traveller Pokemon. They say a Whomi can live well past 900 years old, and whenever it almost dies the light on it's head flashes and revives it. If it survives the three day sleep while it's light flashes, it will return to life. They are called Time Travellers because they can disappear for short periods of time, then return later, only for you to run into an identical Whomi later that will flash out of existence with a whirling noise. Their evolved form, Whodis, is said to be able to escape to the Distortion World with their trainer inside to help escape particularly dangerous circumstances. If you are worried about being cramped inside the shell of yoru Whodis, do not worry: Although they are only 6 feet tall and three feet wide, it has been said they are somewhat larger inside, with very old Whodisi having enough room to hide a dozen people.
Lapice and Zatop
Spoiler
Lapice is a psychic/ice bunny rabbit. Zatop is a Psychic type similar to a sea cucumber that looks like a top hat. When a Lapice grows sufficiently, it wears a Zatop on it's head, and their combined minds become strong enough to rival an Alakazam. This combination is called Lapacier.
Sometimes a Zatop grows strong enough to expel it's inner skeleton. This skeleton becomes a Zatalock, a large chest looking Pokemon, similar to a footlocker. It can store items within itself, and tends to spit up scarfs when surprised. It lives off the emotions of surprise people get from magic shows. However, the skin of the old Zatop has memories as well, and will animate long enough to eat a Lapice, who will then live inside the old Zatop, their minds fusing to make Lapazat, which looks like a rabbit wearing a top hat like a snail shell. Lapazat will sometimes hide in his shell. Oddly, Lapazats never become Lapaciers, instead favoring their psychic gifts unlike the more icy rabbit magician.
Wartyk
Spoiler
Wartyk is a Pokemon with a bizzare sexual dimorphism. Both are fighting type Pokemon, but they evolve in very different ways. The male evetually grows a hard steel coating then a mohawk and an armblade, becoming Hoplyto, a Fighting/Steel type. Eventually a large sheild like growth comes on the other arm and his musculature increases until he is a Spartnus.Female Wartyks go another direction. She focuses more on the art of combat and strategy until she learns to read people and Pokemon alike. This near level of insight makes her into a Fighting/Psychic type called Ammazin. Ammazin continues to focus on the theory of combat, but then gains the same arm blades as the male, but thinner, finer. Hers are made of psionic energies, and she eventually becomes the Wisdom Pokemon, Athesia.
Guineamp

For some reason all regions have an electric rodent or mammal of some kind. Pikachu, Mareep, Plusle, Minun, Pachirisu and Emolga, say welcome the fat little Guineamp, the Guinea Pig Pokemon. The little Pokemon was experimented on a lot by all four Teams in the region, especially Team Lightning and Team Ragnarok. If one makes it happy though, it'll become the large and strong Capybarohm, the largest rodent pokemon yet discovered.
The Undine Sciences Pokemon

Undine Sciences, run by Rock Jameson, is perhaps the most disturbing place anyone can be. In order to help run the facility, they developed a Steel/Bug line of Pokemon, Sphevae, Turrecoon and Carofly, which many are convinced was a bad idea. To quote one reviewer "Who would make mechanical insects, and much less let them teleport and shoot lasers? I think we should kill it with fire." Fire is in fact the only weakness of the Sphevae line.
Rock also, upon learning of the Whomi and Whodis, attempted to create his own version, the Steel type Greskot, in a similar manner to Magnemite. Greskot was considered a failure until one fought a rough Portenhiss in the reactor of the Undine Science Isotope Utilization Field, and evolved into the Steel/Flying Deloskot, which can easily hold two people in it's mouth as it travels through the Distortion World.
I also am looking at adding in those Elemental frogs (Psychic, Fighting and Rock turning into Psychic/Electric, Fighting/Water and Rock/Ground. Yes I know Poliwhirl already has Water/Fighting. Shush.)
I also have added in Quaix and Wavaix, a Flying type duck that turns Water/Flying, and Purwing, a Flying type based on the Purple Martin, who then turns into Golwing, a Flying/Psychic type. There is also Didela and Didamage, an opossum based rodent (similar to Ratatta or Sentret.)

1. They already had one, it's called Totodile. The hippo or the rock ape may be cool though.
2. Sadly, any hack that would allow trading could only truly trade with the same game. For example: Leafether would take Bulbasaur's place in the Pokedex, so the best we could hope for is a trade that would change Leafether into Bulbasaur. However, if you both were somehow playing this hack, yes, trading may be possible. If I can get it to work, I may even make some trade evolutions.
Hm... A water type Hippo makes sense, yes... Too bad there are already elemental monkeys... But maybe some other animal can fit the same niche as the monkeys or Eevee...
Maybe a trio of frogs?

I've always wanted to hack in a Normal/Flying type based on an albatross which becomes a pure Flying type on its final evolution. Along with a Normal/Ghost type based on a zombie.

Id just like to say that you are most certainly awesome, and while i am artisticly retarded and couldn’t hack me way out of a paper bag i am a long term pokemon obsessive and have put a lot of work into a pen and paper rpg conversion for Pokemon, which has gotten me very familiar with the mechanics of Pokemon and its balance. I also have a rather large stock of fake mons im sitting on as well. I would be glad to help out in any way if you would like.

Don't worry, until I figure out how to implement trades properly or get a NDS card that plays .gba roms, I'm going to be changing all Trade Evos to Stone or Happiness Evos.
I did have one idea from my girlfriend. A set of Pokemon that, if you catch them, could be holding an evolution stone tied to their family. It'd be a Rock/Insert Other Element Here type.
Of course, her explanation was that it defecates evolution stones... which kind of ruins the rest of Pokemon for me, but gives me a great respect for Ash's Pikachu...
Also, I have Leafether, Sphevae, Turrecoon and Carofly done. The Sphevae line are all obviously hacked sprites, but Leafether was drawn by hand. I'll add them to the first post asap.
And making a list up there of planned mons, I see we're at at least 165 Mons, including the Legendary Elephants, the Legendary Lights (and Darkness), the Legendary Horrors, the ones you'll have to hunt, and the Solo Legendaries. Also, the Lights will be similiar to Manaphy so... yeah. Have fun there (though I may make the Horrors also like that... heh.) Oh wait, I just remembered a few I gotta change, gonna go edit the list again!

For the water starter how about a Water/Ground or Water/Fighter that can use a variety of Ground attacks? It'd keep the references to Journey to The West pokémon seems to be trying.

Cool, well, if you ever get it fully made, you'll have to let us all know, and then tell us if your interested in selling it to others ^^. I've never played Chaos Black but I've tended to hear a lot of good things about it.
For legendaries, the ones you have to chase... I was thinking you could maybe do like tunneling creatures, so when they run away they burrow into the ground and escape. And they could either all share the ground type and another type, or handwave that and pick 3 or 4 elements that follow the rock paper scissors well enough.
That's as far as I've thought on this...

I wouldn't pay him for pokemon, I'd pay him for the SD card that he put his hard work onto ^^ You are right though, I doubt Chaos Blacks creator makes anything off of it either. If it wasn't for that little fact, I'd probably have bought it off E-bay by now, but I don't want to support pirates. On the other hand, Alchemyprimes is a person from this forum, one that I happen to frequent, so if I paid him for the SD card + a little tip, I'm thinking that would be legal + I know I'd be supporting the person who did it directly.

It's both Whomi and Whodis. They're Time Lords and TARDIS, respectively.
Alchemy, you are a horrible, horrible person for that.
Actually, Whomi is a Time Lord that looks like a little Sonic Screwdriver.
Also, Greskot and Deloskot are another time traveler/time machine combo.
Say Greskot really fast. Gray Scott. Also, Deloskot sometimes need to fly at roughly, oh,142 kilometers per hour to reach the Distortion World.

Oh... oh my god. There are just so many people I want to thank. Professor Luck and Henry, for being so boring I wanted to make this. Perhaps for a psychic type you could use Tarsier or Aye-aye type pokemon. Also perhaps you could use an anglerfish style pokemon for the Dark/light or an aquatic. A Dumbo Octopus would make a good aquatic too.

I I like the idea of the Aye-Aye as a psychic type... Also, I am actually DEATHLY afraid of octopi and squids, but I can see that making a nice Water/Dark or Water/Psychic type...

OK, this is really obscure, but I just remembered something really awesome from a project I did in Bio with a friend. His part of it was on this thing called a "mantis shrimp"...basically, it can shoot out its claws and stab you at something like 60 MILES PER HOUR. No kidding, it apparently heats up the water around it when it attacks...
So how about that, a Water/Fighting or Water/Bug shrimp with moves like Mach Punch, Scald (to imitate the boiling water), some run-of-the-mill Bug, Fighting, and Water moves...and stat-wise, high speed and attack stats. I feel like this thing shouldn't need an evolution or pre-evolution...

Reminds me of a shrimp I've heard of that killed small fish and other shrimp with a shockwave created by snapping its claw shut. Also thetylosaurus and theBasilosaurus seem like they could make good fossil, aquatic, or legendary pokemon.

Some interesting deepsea creatures out there. I suggest using the mimic octopus (Mimic or Color Change?), gulper eel (Suction Cups + Tail Glow?) or vampire squid (Forewarn + Flash?).
Also a Bug/Dark type based on a termite which evolves twice, just for an excuse to use the name Terminite.

That shrimp you remember? Is the pistrol shrimp, the inspiration for Shrimstol, Iona's Water Starter. Also, I think Kutchicetus could make a nice fossil Pokemon, perhaps a Rock/Water type as it was a protowhale.

I like the idea for Terminite. A nice Bug that becomes Bug/Dark or Bug/Grass depending on how you evolve it.

Oh... oh my god. There are just so many people I want to thank. Professor Luck and Henry, for being so boring I wanted to make this.
