Silly Message Board GamesA forum for any kind of quote games, continuing story games, "What would you do if?" games, or whatever anyone comes up with. Old threads will now expire after one month.
The DNA within you begins to rapidly re-arrange. You experience a wave of changes as the DNA shuffles through itself. The changes and evolutions appear and disappear almost as fast as they came, but when the DNA begins to calm down, you notice that two new evolutions have stuck through the mutation.
Next to the wide flaps that you use to propel yourself through the water, a set of four flaps, two on each side, have formed. Through these water flows in and out of your body. You feel the water filter through you, and it suddenly becomes more than easy to breathe the red liquid, as if you were designed to live submerged in it all along. Allowing the water to flow in through these gives you a rush of energy the likes of which can only be compared to the first time you used your DNA.
Exhausted from the reproduction, you fall asleep in your burrow. As you drift off to a restful state, you notice that water continues to flow in and out of your body through your new gills, and for once, this planet finally feels like your natural home.
/-\-/-\
When you wake, you feel as if a long time has passed since you went to sleep. Through the narrow burrow opening, a dim blue light filters through. You're stomach seems about half-way full, so you see little reason to eat just after a long rest. The sounds of rapidly moving water and the scratching of digging tells you there are creatures outside your burrow. Who knows what could be out there now?
Rage fills you as you realize that there is yet another intruder is attempting to defile your burrow, and right after you built it too! Using your jets, you launch yourself out of the burrow, horn and tusks baring at all sides, prepared to brutally impale any creature that dares attack. As you launch yourself out of the nest, kicking up brown clay into the red water, the movement and digging noise stops.
The forest has lit again under a dim blue light. For the few seconds you watch, the light seems to be getting gradually brighter, as it filters through the black fans of the Creepers. Heavily shadowed burrows under several nearby creepers swallow the light, but these burrows appear to be very crude, as if hastily dug with scraping instruments. The roots of the creepers they sit under seem to support them, as otherwise, they appear to would have collapsed.
As you leave the burrow, a small horned creature ducks away inside a nearby burrow in fear. You hear the sound of frantic squeaking, then a large creature, with an even larger horn rockets out the burrow, creating a strong current around it's body that creates a fog of settling dust around itself. The creature uses a set of tiny hairs along it's body, to orient itself into a menacing pose, pointing a pair of sharp, translucent tusks as well as a single large translucent horn directly at you. Based on the speed the creature moved, you can tell that impaling you into a Creeper trunk wouldn't be very hard for this creature.
A small black dot beneath the large horn rotates to focus on you. Along the sides of the creature's front is a set of several flaps. Two on each side of the creature, directly behind the tusks and reaching back to a point, open and close rhythmically. Each side also has a third, larger flap, which seems to stay tightly closed, but occasionally opens to push the creature slightly forward or backwards. Inside it's large mouth, stretched by the tusks, are some small rounded teeth, also translucent. The creature's skin is colorless, except for a gray tint, and it translucent enough so you can observe it's disgusting purple innards.
Antagonize the larger creature with jets of water, while remaining near the tangles of the fallen creeper. Once it moves in to attack, we can use our comparatively smaller size to dart in and out of the creeper tendrils, going for its soft underbelly.

You should wait till it charges then charge right back at it. But at the last second duck underneath the big horn and stab right into that small black dot.
That might hurt it since it seems to see with it.
Oh and thirded on the name.

I'd definitely considered that it might be one of us when it first showed up, but I think this is maybe just convergent evolution. We'll see. Even if it is, no reason we can't be territorial with our own species. There's no shortage of examples of that in nature.
Also, Kobold, your plan is basically part of my plan. I'm just suggesting we cover by the fallen creeper while waiting for the translucoid to charge.

I wasn't quite sure what the verdict is, so I'll try to combine both Kobold and Kuma-Da's votes... to my best ability.
As the creature, which appears to belong at least to a subspecies of your own, territorially threatens you by kicking up dust from the soft rock beneath you and waving sharp transparent horns and tusks at you, you maintain your territorial position. Slowly backing up into a covered area in the roots of the fallen Creeper, you continue to point your horn and tusks at the larger specimen.
The creature, which you've decided to name a Translucoid, fails to notice your advantagous cover, and continues to put on a territorial display. Other, much smaller translucoids begin to creep out of the burrows around your own. They too, fail to attack you directly, and stay safely away from the larger creatures in a territorial face off.
The display continues, untill the water around you is filled with a brown fog that's hard to both see and breathe through. It lasts several more minutes, untill it's tired itself, and returns to a menacing position low to the ground, pointing it's horns and tusks at you.
This is a territorial display. It's not going to be a fight to serious blood. It's about grandstanding. If we goad the translucoid into rushing us, and it fails, it's going to look like a moron in front of its friends. And then we've won. Keep the pressure on. Antagonize this thing with jets of water along the sand, throwing grit at its eyes for maximum discomfort. It's gonna have to rush us or back down, and if it rushes we use the creeper tangle to our advantage and whack it solidly in the underbelly.

In order to update, the game does call for a majority to be reached. I'm sorry, but I'll need a bit more than two votes saying virtually opposite things in order to decide what happens next.
In an attempt to create a friendly gesture after the Translucoid tires of it's territorial standoff, you raise your weapons and slowly approach it. Even as you do so, the large Translucoid keeps it's sharp tusks and horn targeted at your center mass.
Still, cautiously, you approach the Translucoid, not showing any sign of fear or anger at it. You make it seem as if the territorial display you have been challenged to was not accepted, or had no remark. After you are well within stabbing distance and the horn and tusks are nearly touching you, you stop, waiting for a response.
The Translucoid's outer skin suddenly turns a vibrant shade of Creeper goo purple, and it backs up. The remainder of it's friends begin to swim forward, creating a ring around you, until the large Translucoid appears to be part of the pack. With ten or so sets of horns and tusks pointed directly at you, very closely, it's very hard to move at the speed that your instincts tell you to. Your DNA screams in claustriphobia, as a sudden horn prods you in the backside, motioning you to move forward. The remainder of the Translucoids turn forward, still keeping a tight circle around you, and their jets open to move. They sit and wait for... something.
After being prodded several times in the backside, you flare open your jets and slowly move forward, on your own account. On occasion, you stop, testing the circling translucoid's responses as they continue to nudge you. The circle and you slowly begin to pick up speed, until you are moved to a smaller clearing, free of burrows and smashed creepers.
Just after you think that you've gone way to far away, the smaller Translucoids suddenly pivot around on their Cilia and rocket away using their jets. Simultaneously, the large, now vibrantly purple Translucoid jets up and over you, landing a safe distance away from you with it's weaponry posed to kill.
Silence ensues, but the flowing in and out movement of a dozen sets of gills around you tell you they are watching you, clearly waiting for something. Other than a menacing pose similar to the one you kept while the territorial display of the larger Translucoid being held at a safe distance from you by your supposed challenger, no hint passes through to you on what they expect you to do.
Strong particles waft through the soil where the translucoid stood. As you inhale these, you DNA goes haywire, sending a rapid flurry of signals to your nucleus telling you to do things from attack to turn on your cilia and run. The particles are nearly invisible, but you can sense them as they enter your thick membrane.
The new, clean clearing is your silent stage, and the translucoids are watching diligently. It's clear that a response is expected of you.
You have 5 Health
You have 1 Stomach
You have 8 Endurance
You have 4 DNA
You are starving! At the next open opportunity, you must eat, lest you begin to lose health.
Get the big guy to charge into the ground getting him stuck then stab him in the black eye dot thing. and try and slash him up as much as you can quickly then swim back to a distance.
At V
Dude this is a dual, that big guy is obviously the leader and you have to fight him for the crown...

Oh dear lord no. Diplomacy got us this far. It's going to see us out of this alive.
Lower our horn and begin to dig a burrow in the center of the clearing. These guys need a communal nest. In between bouts of digging, make our way over to the creepers to briefly forage for food.

I doubt they will accept the burrowing when they are challenging you.
it is probably a fight for dominance, so this means this could be a fight to the dead (highly unlikely) or some form of chicken run where the one who differs from the hitting course is the loser.
