Oh, I have no doubt this could be a duel. I'm proposing something entirely unexpected, with the hopes that it'll a) improve relations between us and our near-kin, and b) confuse them for long enough that we can get a bite to eat. I don't think we're in good condition for a dominance fight right now.

hmmm instilling fairness before jousting between territory wars Seems like a good strategy, the loser doesn't necessarily need to die. The winner would be for example decided by the best out of three or when the other can't fight any more and backs off.

hmm highly territorial but the territory can be won by challenge. I like that idea

@Douhugal, if you have a vote or suggestion as to what you'd like the creature to do, please highlight it in bold text. This makes it easier for me to see what the votes are, and not have to look through each post to decipher it.

Under the watchful eyes of nearly a dozen Translucoids, you lower your horn at the Creeper blood purple Translucoid, while it watches intently without flinching or losing it's ground at a safe distance from your position in the center of the clearing. Several Translucoids flinch in expectation as you use your tusks and horn to burrow into the soft sandstone. Brown dust fills the red water around your burrow, and the bright blue light far above the forest shines through it, creating a rapidly swirling and quite dazzling light pattern on the stone around your burrow. Once you find that the bottom of the burrow is too far down for your horn to reach, you slowly exit the large burrow as the wary eyes of the Translucoids watch.

You use your cilia to swim across the stone clearing and into the shadow of the Creepers. You begin to gnaw on the lower roots of the creeper, utilizing your tusks to get to the goo filled and previously unobtainable roots of the creature.Purple goo flushes through your system, and you feel almost immediately nourished, after a long night and quite a bit of work.

Suddenly, a shuffling of water behind you causes you to turn around in defense of your virtually undefended backside. Instead of an oncoming predator, you notice a strange scene playing out. The larger purple Translucoid slowly swam up to your burrow as the dust cleared, and appears clearly unimpressed. He begins to dig away at the sturdy edges of the burrow with his tusks, but three smaller Translucoids suddenly jet up to the larger one and attempt to prevent the burrow from being destroyed by deflecting the larger creature's weaponry with three sets of horns and tusks. You watch as the brave creatures battle the large Translucoid in a battle of horns and tusks. As they fight, each Translucoid turns a deeper shade of purple, until the translucent membranes of all four creatures are opaque with purple goo.

Suddenly, the large Translucoid billows a massive amount of dust into the water around him using the set of flaps located next to the primary jet flaps. Two of the smaller Translucoids fly through the water and land, unmoving at the base of the Creepers located on the edge of the clearing. The final Translucoid attempts to flee, and is impaled on a large crystalline horn. The purple bleeding body of the final smaller Translucoid falls into the dust cloud, mixing an ugly shade of purple into a brown dust cloud.

Red water flowing in and out of your gills, creating energy like you've never seen used in combat before, you lower your horn and tusks, preparing to skewer the large purple Translucoid through your horn and tusks. Using your Cilia to build potential energy, you suddenly channel the water through your body into the forest behind you, propelling yourself forward like a three pronged arrow.

With a strong sense of touch and the right tool for the job, the large Translucoid maneuvers it's cilia just so that when you thought you were going to kill him almost instantly, you met his horn and tusks instead, and deflected off like a parried blade. A counterattack by the Translucoid follows, and his tusks dig into your side at a state of disorientation, spilling your surprisingly purple colored cytoplasm into the water around you.

Like you've never fought before, you attempt a counterattack the same way, and are blocked and parried by the opposite creature's horn. A duel of horns and tusks follows, as each of you attempt to wound the other with your horns and tusks, only to be deflected by a quick swish of the head. Then, suddenly, you find yourselves locked, unable to free any of your weaponry from the other's grip.

The larger Translucoid attempts to struggle away out of the grip, but both you and him only feel the lock getting tighter. It squirms back and forth in an attempt to wound you and free itself, but you only find yourselves deeper in each other's facial weaponry. You both are quite wounded and stuck, and if you don't make a move soon, the translucoid will.

This dude has been tyranizing the other translucoids. They tried to fight him right in front of us. They were too weak. They've never had an opportunity like this one, though.

Allow him to press us back towards the edge of the circle, then maneuver so that his vulnerables are towards the crowd. Nature will do the rest.

With locked horns and tusks, you suddenly stop channeling water through your jets and halt the opposite pressure, allowing the large Translucoid to push you. Maintaining the locked horns and tusks position, and pretending that he is actually pushing you, you find yourself drifting across the clearing towards a vibrant purple crowd. Still, the longer you hold onto him, the more dangerous he becomes, and just at the point that you think you can't overcome him anymore, you quickly flick your cilia to the side, causing both of you to spin, until you find that you are pushing him to an angry crowd, and that is what you were counting on.

A few members of the crowd notice that the unprotected backside of the large Translucoid is exposed and jet themselves toward the weak spot. Some manage to get themselves straight across the clearing in order to tear into the large Translucoid. Although your plan is working, the large Translucoid is being consumed by the crowd, you suddenly notice a large problem. You're well attached to him, and the flailing horns and tusks are beginning to draw your blood.

In a reflex defense, you suddenly reverse your jets and wrench away from the crowd. In the process, you feel your weaponry being torn from your face, but it seems that your shell-like horns and tusks are stronger that the translucent crystal weaponry of the Translucoids, and the splitting sound of the large Translucoid's horn and tusks shattering fills the air, raining down small shards of translucent crystal on the battlefield.

You watch as the crowd slowly consumes the Translucoid, some simply tearing him apart, others actually consuming him. A creeper goo-purple cloud forms around the carnage, obscuring the probably gruesome sights of this political overthrowing.

When the cloud clears, the vibrant purple crowd turns to you in utter rage.
Several jet forward, only to suddenly reverse course, knowing that you, the orchestrater of this, would most likely kill them to show who you are. This is your chance to show that you are the greatest your species has to offer. Who will your people be?

Seconding. We need them calm. We didn't kill their oppressor just to take his place.

Drop our aggressive posture, look over the wounded, guide them to nearby creepers, and then attempt to dig the communal burrow a second time. These guys need a home.

Your victory was strong, as you turned your oppressed kin against their Alpha and took his place. You decide that these people deserve a better existence. The crowd watches as you swim over to the now ruined burrow you began to make, and begin to repair. Scraping away at the walls and floor with your horn and tusks, then billowing the excess sand out of the way with your jets. Soon a single brave Translucoid swims up and joins you in digging. Following it's example, soon the entire colony of Translucoids join you in digging the burrow.

You watch through the dusty fog as the colony of Translucoids cooperate and create a permanent structure for them to live in. From the outside, on the edge of the clearing, it slowly transforms into a massive cone shaped mound with a large cliff like hole in the center. Under your guidance, the Translucoids form a burrow big enough to nest an entire species.

You watch as the Translucoids stop their exterior building and enter through the hole in the center. One Translucoid passes you swiftly, but just before he is about to enter, he jets back to you and waves his horn toward the top of the mound. It's clear he wants you to come and lead them. So what will it be? Will you establish your place on the planet as the new Alpha of your kin, or will you abandon, preferring to seek another fate elsewhere?

You motion the translucoid into the nest with your horn and he jets up the side of the mound and into the nest. You are quite eager to take your place as the leader of an entire colony of translucoids, but first, your stomach is begging for nourishment. Using your jets you swim over to a large creeper, and dig to get to the juicy roots. Gorging yourself on the purple goo, you soon fill your stomach, and you notice that your membrane too turns a shade of purple as the nutritious dye courses through your cytoplasm.

Once your hunger is satisfied, you ascend the large sandy mound. The peak of the mound drops off into a deep hole that descends into darkness. It appears just wide enough to swim down comfortably, but not much wider. You enter the nest like the others, and allow yourself to sink in the darkness.

Stirring up a cloud, you land on a hard sandstone surface. You are in the center of a large open area, with just enough light filtering in to see clearly the dozen or so translucoids mulling about. Around the edges of the area are small indentations, which, due to the particles floating from these areas, you can tell are temporary places of rest. As you land, the activity stops, and you see the translucoids turn towards you, expecting you to do something.

You dig your burrow slightly out of the way of the drop zone, but still in the center. You create it large and extravagant, acknowledging your leadership to those around you. Tired from a territorial standoff, you nestle into your comfortable burrow, and sleep, knowing that when you wake, you will have an entire species under your wing.

You have reached your first turning point!

1: Determine your veiws on the creatures you met up to this point. Describe your general attitude toward them as Aggressive, Passive, Cowardly, or Inquisitive. Name them, if they are yet to be named.
  • The Aquapede: a long millipede-like creature with a carnivorous appetite and 4 horns, one pair on each end. It also sports a 7 segmented exoskeleton and an array of cillia to move itself.
  • A Creeper: Tall plant-like creatures with root like bodies that sport a wide array of brightly colored fans used to attract creatures to it. They appear to bleed a purple goo, which is edible and tasty.
  • The Sweepers: Small, primitive decomposers and scavengers that support a segmented exoskeleton, a small toothed mouth, and a long flagellum, which they use to get around. They are quite persistent, and follow any creature they decide is a decent predator so they can consume the leftovers of it's kill.
  • The Muks: Disgusting creatures who have a light brown outer membrane, but protruding out of it are large misshapen bony plates that work as weak armor. Unfortunately, the plates themselves give them many weak points. They use a set of tusks to dig for roots and use several jets to make quick escapes.
  • The Grinxs (singular Grix): Fast and agile creatures that lack any sort of swimming mechanism, but instead use a set of four tentacles to throw itself around the upper fans of the Creeper Forest. They sport a toothless mouth, and four green glowing eyes.
  • The Translucoid: A larger subspecies of Nargaal that lacks coloration in several areas, giving it a translucent membrane, horn, and tusks. They are very territorial, but only attack when their own space or well being is in danger.
  • The large black beast with a massive jaw and tentacles. It is known for fast movement and launching tentacles with enough force to smash down a fully grown Creeper with one swing.
2: Describe your general attitude towards new creatures in the same manner as those above.

3: Evolve!

Due to your social uprising into power and your influence and inspiration on the culture of the species you now rule over, you have developed

Nesting Habits: (You may establish a place of constant reproduction for your entire species by forming a nest as you reproduce. This nest will continue to produce more of your species even after you leave.)

You have 20 DNA to work with

Available Evolutions:

We are Omnivore!

1: Determine your views on the creatures you met up to this point. Describe your general attitude toward them as Aggressive, Passive, Cowardly, or Inquisitive. Name them, if they are yet to be named.
• The Aquapede: Aggressive
• A Creeper: Friendly/ stable food source
• The Sweepers: Passive
• The Muks: Aggressive
• The Grinxs (singular Grix): Aggressive
• The Translucoid: Inquisitive/Friendly
• Horjaw: Potential prove of leadership, otherwise avoid (cowardly)

2: Describe your general attitude towards new creatures in the same manner as those above.
First inquisitive, aggressive if to close to territory and if it is a potential meal.

3: Evolve!

Due to your social uprising into power and your influence and inspiration on the culture of the species you now rule over, you have developed: we are the nobles they are the peasants

Nesting Habits: (You may establish a place of constant reproduction for your entire species by forming a nest as you reproduce. This nest will continue to produce more of your species even after you leave.)

You have 20 DNA to work with

Improve Stomach: 6 DNA (+2 to maximum Stomach capacity)

Grow Vocal Cords: 4 DNA (Allows you to speak with others of your kind over short distances.)

Tentacles: 6 DNA (A set of tentacles form that allow you can use as a minor enhancer to your movement speed underwater. Increases movement speed.)

Grow eye: 4 DNA (I want to see with depth!)
