Pronounced as it's spelled in Danish, though. So it could be an ancient loanword. But are you sure the Core isn't the name of an undead collective in Ebberon? Wouldn't surprise me.
Also, I believe Scrödinger's immortal would be the result of using that sword on one.

That's because they took it down more than 3 months ago. It hadn't updated for about 6 months before that. Also, holy thread-necromancy Batman!
