Lightbulb Stat Geralt of Rivia (from the Witcher series)?

I played a character heavily inspired by a Witcher once- a hexblade who carried a large number of potions, poisons, and miscellaneous oils/silversheen/etc. I was modeling her after Geralt in the first game, so I took power attack (to represent the "strong" style), dodge, mobility, combat expertise, and spring attack (I was going to take whirlwind attack, and use it with combat expertise to represent a "group" style; I figured "fast" style would be essentially normal attacks, since they're the most accurate, and hence the best for hitting nimble opponents). She had a lot of ranks in craft: poisonmaking and cross-class ranks in various knowledge skills; wielded a one-handed sword for versatility, etc.

Basically she was all about adaptiveness. What ideas do you have to make a more accurate 'Witcher' though, how would you stat Geralt?

Things to remember:
-Witchers are all about mobility and rely heavily on dodging and parrying; they wear only light, unrestrictive armor.

-Geralt seems to wield a longsword.

-Witchers are immune to disease, heal very quickly, and have great stamina and resistance to poison.

-Geralt knows and uses a very small selection of spells, which include powerful, concentrated [gusts of wind?], conjuring small blasts of fire, mental domination, forming a damage-absorbing field around himself, and creating magical, debilitating traps.

-Geralt, and Witchers in general, are highly knowledgeable about monsters of all kinds, herbs and potion-making, poisons, magic, and probably a wide variety of other things.

Edit: Geralt is also very good at hand-to-hand fighting, and has very good senses.

Well hmmm. Some type of Gish. Duskblade, Hexblade, maybe. Maybe a Warblade with a dip into warlock or that wizard variant of Swordsage, but with intentionally weak spells chosen? I duno...

I might consider a Pathfinder Ranger//Alchemist. If you really are going with the game design, the Ranger has an archetype that creates traps, flavor wise Rangers hunt monsters, and the Two Handed sword archetype would also help. The Alchemist would cover poisons, potions, and even (oddly specifically) the mutagens. And you could either go standard bombs or the Vivisectionist archetype that grants sneak attack. Both combined would make for plenty of knowledge about beasts, magical or otherwise.

The only thing I am at a loss for would be the Signs. That would sort of be covered by Ranger spells (especially Sword of the Arcane Order), but you would have to pick between the traps or the spells.

Dragon Magazine #347 Also has a variant that allows you to trade out your Animal Companion in order to gain your Favored Enemy bonus on attack rolls.

I don't think anything in the game repsresents that well, I'd homebrew if you're looking to play it.

This says Dragonborn to me, though I don't know where you'd get Fast Healing.

Could do with some Factotum. That gives you all Knowledge skills, and you could use Knowledge Devotion to get some use out of those Knowledge: Dungeoneering/Arcana/whatever skills.

Feral half fey Human.

Re-fluffed feral half fey to being the witcher template.
Feral for fast healing and physical stat boosts ect. Half fey for mind control stuff.

Factotum 1(able learner feat) for skills
Fighter 2(for feats)
Warlock 1 for eldritch blast (fire power)
and warblade for the rest so it is a semi viable build.

Take some skills in craft(alchemy) and craft(trapmaking).

In one of the Prestige class competetions a while ago someone made a prestige class for making witchers, it was a ToB/Warlock class, and looked pretty damn cool.

I think Fighter/Ranger/Rogue/Sorcerer. Say Fighter 4/Ranger 1/Rogue 1/Sorcerer 4. Favored Enemy Magical Beasts.

You could clarify if you want video game Witcher, or novel one.

Differences are, that VG ones are generally "just" take over the top.

Geralt in books was using Igni sigh to fix the kettle, and similar stuff, for example, instead of setting fools aflame.

Hmm, good question. I guess I'm kind've thinking both; maybe a compromise between the two. How did he use Igni to fix a kettle?

Another thing he does in the books is parry spells (with his rune-etched sword); I'm pretty sure there's a weapon enhancement somewhere (maybe Forgotten Realms) that lets you block or absorb spells somehow, anyone remember what that's called?

I know there's an alternate class feature floating around that lets you replace evasion with the ability to redirect ranged touch attacks.

Oh yeah, spell reflection, right? That might be better. In that case he needs to have something with evasion.

Edit: It's from Complete Mage.

Their fast healing doesn't have an effect in battle. At least not in the two novels I read. It's more that while resting up for a few nights after being taken to -5 HP, he'll get back to full faster than a normal human. Complete warrior has a feat for that (or complete adventurer).

How many books are there? I've found Last Wish, and Blood of Elves. Don't remember anything about fixing a kettle though.

There're several more, maybe like seven in all. Remember that it's a Polish series, so those two are the only ones that have been translated so far (that I know of).

There is Last Wish, and quite a lot of different short forms.

There is also 5 part Witcher Saga - five novels:
- Blood of Elves
- Times of Contempt
- Chrzest Ognia
- Wieża Jaskółki
- Pani Jeziora

Written like that, because AFAIA, indeed only first two are translated to english so far.

There is only literally one sentence about kettle in "Trochę Poświęcenia" -

"Kettle was a bit punctured, but witcher soldered it with Igni Sign."

There was also something about firing the torch, campfire, etc, AFAIR. General usage of Igni Sign.

I'm not aware of any plans of more books being translated into English in the nearest future, sorry

Is there a cry emote somewhere I can use?
Publishers should've released the books faster after the videogame was released here in america.
2-3 books in the year after the game came out? Would've given enough of a following that the publishers would feel more books were a safe investment.
