Beeskee sets up a small wooden stand in the market area in the middle of the town, with a sign that says "Free Raspberries!" in colorful writing. He stands behind it patiently, smiling. Oddly enough, there do not appear to be any raspberries on display. Or anything else, for that matter.

Cool. I was never too sure if there was some Trekkie-like requirement of writing Mary Sue fan fiction and getting married with costume pointy ears and/or forehead ridges.
For me, I'm more at the "make amusingly captioned images on the Internet" level but not reached the "make fanfiction of favourite ponies" level. Eventually I might reacht the point I name a MP3 player or mobile phone Scootaloo.

Oh man, I hope not 'cause otherwise the brony police are going to be all over me for slacking off.
Also, I'm taking off tomorrow for a trip to New Zealand and Australia. I won't be on the internet much until after Thanksgiving, and probably not on these forums at all. I expect you all you be on thread 35 at least by the time I get back

Yeah, it aired on Saturday. EqD should have links to some HD videos.

egads, do you lot go through a lot of these threads. had to jump through about five after google dumped me on a mention of my fic...
so, am i alone in thinking that, in general, each episode's quality keeps improving to the point that, five episodes into season two, the earliest episodes seem rather weak?

Opinions vary wildly. I did very much enjoy the last episode, though.
Edit - Oh, and best report letter, Eakin. Best.

My off the cuff subject to change rankings of each episode, out of 10, with 5 being an average S1 episode
E1: 6
E2: 8
E3: 8
E4: 9
E5: 4

so, pony episode authors.
M. A. Larson brought us the season two 2-parter, and Luna eclipsed, season one he brought us Sonic rainboom, Swarm of the Century, and Cutie mark Chronicles. it seems he was Lauren's second in command when it comes to writing, and he diffinitely brings us plenty of pony back stories, plus he writes some rather epic scenes.
Meghan McCarthy brought us Lesson Zero, and before had Dragonshy, Call of the Cutie, Green isn't your color, and Party of One. She is diffinitely the OCD Crazy pony writer. I look forward to more panicking crazy ponies from her in the future.
Lastly season two has Cindy Morrow with Sisterhooves Social, she seems to have the track record of mediorcre episodes when it comes to recieption by bronies. I must say I like her episodes though, it is simple and quiet, and at times heartwarming. (she brought us Griffon the Brush Off , Winter Wrap Up, The Show Stoppers, and Owl's Well That Ends Well.
I look forward to any Amy Keating Rogers's epsiodes, she also has several memorable ones. Chris Savino and Charlotte Fullerton also is favorable in my book, though they both rank near the bottom as far as exciting episodes go.
Dave Polsky may be the most underwhelming pony writer, with Feeling Pinkie keen and Over a barrel. I wonder if he will be able to bring a non-controversial episode in season two, if he is still writing for MLP that is.
Only comment is that I like over the barrel, and Pinkie Keen wasn't bad so much as folks let a poorly worded moral affect thee synopsis of the entire episode.
But there seems to be a depth here I've never really considered for any other show. I wonder if I can parse other televised programs by which writers I enjoy the work of?

I walked into my Drama class that day, and my teacher had no idea who I was, so I explained the history of the character, how a fan-created name was accepted as the canonical name. She loved the idea, and said she would look it up.
The next day, I walk into class to see her texting away. I didn't see who she was talking to, but I saw her type in my name, so I asked who was on the other end.
"Oh, just a friend of mine. I'm telling her about your costume and acting and stuff. She thinks you sound really cool!"
I'm rather confused at this point, so I ask, "Who exactly is this person?"

First page. Yay.
You've heard the telephone version, the article didn't directly say they want to discourage anything; just that they don't believe the fandom is as big as it thinks it is.
Which is entirely true; for a collector, such as most bronies, you Rent going to play with, break, and thus have to buy a new toy. Once the first wave of show-accurate toys hit shelves, we'd flock to buy them and then... Maybe the bubble bursts and we're all satisfied an never buy another toy?
Their pessimism irritates me but it is perfectly understandable pessimism.

I just watched it. Check youtube.
Thoughts Rant!on ep. 5:
Spoiler
Phenomenal episode, another dead-on hit. And, Rarity's dad wears a SOMBRERO. That said, I didn't like it quite as much as previous episodes. And don't get me wrong. I *LOVE* Rarity. I think she's a really smart, witty, character with realistic strong and weak points. Simply put, is best pony (Aside from Luna; sorry, but I shall never forsake my alliance). This one just couldn't beat art of the dress ; I mean, that was one spectacular episode. Art of the Dress = Amazing. Rarity has one amazing voice, and I am even guilty of singing that in the shower. It's true, and I'm not afraid to admit it.
Another thought before the Rarity-Lovefesting rant gets too out of hand. I think (and I just KNOW this has already been addressed) that Applejack is not nearly as boring and not-awesome a character as many seem to believe. I'm not saying I worship AJ. I'm not going to rank the ponies because I love all of them. But there is something crucially important to keep in mind: Applejack is a reactive character. She responds most favourably when placed in situations where everyone else is going completely crazy. This episode was a perfect example of this; Rarity and Sweetie Belle are having a complete nervous-breakdown-bad-stuff-flamewar-of-doom and AJ fixed everything. It is important that a character such as that exists in just about any story as a device to keep things from spiraling out of control. Because we all know what happens when things spiral out of control.
And that would be...
THE!
WORST!
POSSIBLE!
THING!
Had to finish with some Rarity, of course.
Well, I could really rant for another twenty or thirty minutes, no problem. But I really want food. So, yeah. That's my (dreadfully incomplete version of) my rant on ep5.

Personally I would pick Look Before You Sleep. To me it just seems one of the least entertaining. Though I think Applebuck Season ranks fairly low too. These are my thoughts, anyone dispute them? Sounds like I'm asking for an argument to start doesn't it?
Re: My Little Pony XXXI: The Great and Powerful XXXie!
I've been thinking, does Applejack have a long-term goal that can create conflict? My initial impression was that she needs money for fixing up the farm, but we've never seen the farm cause problems for her. Should they go with this, or think up something new for her to pursue? Dash has her stunt-flying career, Rarity wants to be in high society, Fluttershy is chock full of phobias, Pinkie wants everypony to be happy, and Twilight wants to be a pony archmage. But what does AJ want?

Probably Owl's Well would be my least favorite episode. Feeling Pinkie Keen and Call of the Cutie are down there as well, and maybe Over a Barrel. Applebuck season's a little closer to "average" although I admit it's lacking in "hook"
I should really divide them into quintiles

Yes and yes. Applebuck Season was the first of the really good episodes and you are a terrible person.

Hm, personally, I'd say:
E1: 7
E2: 8
E3: 8
E4: 7
E5: 4 (or maybe 3.5)
For baselines, Sonic Rainboom is my 10, The Show Stoppers would be my 1, and something like Boast Busters or Look Before You Sleep would be my 5.

As far as I can tell, she wants Sweet Apple Acres to be prosperous, and keep expanding the business. She's unique among the Mane 6 in that she is inheriting a successful family business instead of being on her own, which sets her priorities accordingly.
And speaking of ; tonight we decided to go to Souplantation (aka Sweet Tomatoes, a soup/salad/etc. buffet chain) for dinner. There I found:
Taffy Apple Salad (with marshmallows & coconut) on the salad bar
Diced Apples & Sweet Potatoes with Cranberries & Walnuts in the side dishes
Whole apples (small green & red ones) on the dessert bar
There was no apple soup, so I had Pumpkin Bisque instead.
Needless to say, my inner Applejack was very happily fed.

Hmm, you make a good point, although Applebuck Season kind of suggests AJ's biggest problem is dealing with her own stubbornness. At the same time, that doesn't seem quite to the scale of some of the other complications that her friends have, and it's only really come up in that one episode.
I guess on that note, I would like to see them do something more with AJ, either to go on with the farm potentially needing money or something new; I don't know if I have a preference, but I would like to see some development.
