I had wondered where you'd disappeard to, Elagune, but it seems you were active all this time here at GitP. I think I can take this as a reason to drop in here now and then to comment on Thaumaturge.

So, the next setting of yours is Wild West. Wild West + MAGIC. Interesting magic, I might add :D

Mmm. It just occurred to me: In biblography, a Page could chain spells - I wonder if Sopher here in Thaumaturge can do something similar.... two miracles working in harmony. When Nomen used multiple cards, they were basically laid out flat on a plane - yes, in the air, but flat on an imagined plane. What would happen, if some cards were behind others? And a two-verse chant recited (regardless of syllables)?

Well, not Wild West, entirely. Definitely this location, but others think there are other themed areas.

With that said I just imagined a huge network of cards with a ridiculously long chant as some sort of world sustaining miracle being done by some demigod somewhere...

Like:
Triangle, 3 space cards at corners, 2 earth cards between each (for 9 cards)
Next layer forward opposite facing triangle, 3 fires at corners, 2 waters between each (for 9 more)
third layer is A hexagon of Mind-Life-Death-time-space-earth where the 'lines' of the previous layers appear to overlap (for 6 more)
Fourth layer a central metal card with three arms of 3 ice radiating towards the points of the first layer (for 10 more)
Fifth of a central lighting card with three arms of 3 air radiating towards the points of the second layer (for 10 more again)
Lastly a circle of alternating light and dark cards that intersects the tips of both traingles (for18 more)

For a total of 62 cards using all 14 elements, in 6 layers?
I don't even dare imagine what the activating chant would be like. It would take 4 or 5 pages of comic, though, I'm sure.

That's just an idea of the largest I could think of to start, that would have a... cool look to it. Look at it top down, and it's a hexagram. Kind-of. I may have to do a fan-art (when we have more idea of what can happen) of the Demigod with those cards in-front of him.

IF miracles can be layered.

I just picture a sopher placing so many cards on together that it looked like the barrel of a rifle. That would be some excellent overkill.

You're getting these up really fast right now.

That's obviously where he came from, I'm willing to bet.
....I wonder.........if the pipe-faces (Nomen's and Bacques') have any power? If they're just companions, or capable of whipping up a storm of flames? If they just float at the pipe, or can manipulate objects? If they can become sophers themselves ?

Sorry for picking you apart with questions. Just think of me as "That annoying fan" .

In order to prevent burn out I strongly suggest the following, for the next month. Release one page a week. Draw as you will, but save any pages over the one page a week limit for this month. If you find yourself drawing two or three pages a week normally over this month, then sure bump it up to twice a week, but if you're producing just one page a week, and draw three or four pages in a burst once a quarter, then it's best to save them in case you get sick or something suddenly.

answer to the second question- instantly
great good El as always, I like how the design looks a little Mian art very intersting,
I have to ask was this intentional or just something you came up with?

Oh, sorry. I'm just used to the silly message boards/structured game boards, and have addopted a manner of talking to people based upon the habits and mannerisms found there.

I have not used Twitter before, and any similarities my post may have had to a Tweet are purely coincidental. P.S.: this is not the first reference to Russian Roulette I have seen today. If you're willing, check out Writer's Block in structured games, two were unlucky (and one unluckier).

It looks like, theese people are from the same tribe as Nomen (considering the similarities in clothing and pipe design). The guy with a suitcase might be the one after Adam's land. I sense conflict.

Also: sentient flame is way too cute.

If that's it, the young one with the feathers might be Nomen. And the briefcase-man might be taking him into servitude for exchange for something else.
...Hmm, speaking of briefcases, if Vegas (I forget, is that what the town is called?) is really just "theme-parked" western, then it would make sense for there to be some place that is much more advanced, and has the cash/tech to mass-produce briefcases. But if every place is only as advanced as Vegas is, shouldn't they have... wait, briefcases still existed back then, they were just really expensive, and hand made. I guess that means that guy is really rich, regardless.

It might be set in the era of the old west in the same way one piece is set in the era of pirates.

old fashioned weapons and buildings, but also semi magical gadgets that replicate technology. And robots just because.

So it was a dream sequence.

Well then, now that we have a few thin slivers of backstory, it's time to try to fill in the rest.

Let mass speculation begin!!!

Reoccurring dreams, which might be a memory of the past, or a prediction of the future? Or both?

Yeah, I'd call that a "sliver" of information, for sure. However, in guessing at what's between the gaps, he may have been expelled from his tribe, and wants to return to marry the princess of his dreams? Or, that's not him with the briefcase, but a rival, and he's the old man with the pipe. Or, that lady in his dream is what Wendy looks like grown up....... Or any combination thereof.

Speculation indeed.

Worth noting that the chief's headband is excactly like Nomen's, but with feathers. That's cueing me in on a 'last of his kind' type of thing.

Also, taking a quick look back at the start, the old guy explaining thaumaturgy looks like he's from a more european setting, and Vagas is described as a "frontier town". I'm gonna place my bets on there being other settings about.

That's why I suggested it, I've seen lots of webcomic artists say "yeah I'm going to put this out daily" and even manage for a while before folding under the pressure they put on themselves. Moreover it helps get the audience into a pattern of reading on a certain day, making it easier to build readership. If Gajin Manga didn't go "under" as it were, I would have made a similar suggestion to you a little while back. The only reason I waited till now was because it's just a good idea when putting up fiction in this format to have a decent amount of material to start with.
