It's a good day for finishing quests! I still have an epilogue to post, actually, but that's just a little thing. Looking forward to seeing what domain Nieve ends up with!

Woo! So, uh, I've been a bit out of the loop with my prolonged absence and procrastinating ... now I go to Turn 1, and post what Shirvan does after-ascension and possibly use some Major and Minor Acts ... such as to gain Elemental Mastery (Fire), set up followers, etc., yes?
You are correct sir! And feel free to start - through the use of your Pride-ful powers - contacting others.
Or... Let some of us know, and we'll contact you!
Some Options:
- Lossethir has Celonechor moving randomly, north of you. Fire and Ice, meet and greet?
- Green Morningstar is moving to the south of the middle island soon.
- Brandis is celebrating his powers to the west. By his lonesome. And, you know, the whole town of Hastings, of course.

This is correct.
*edit*
Ah, and Nieve gains the War domain.

... I'd love to, but how do I contact people through Pride, Gengy? By being so awesome that I just do and no one questions how?
Also, excellent. Would it be fine to immediately start with a Major Act in the aftermath of his Ascension, gaining Fire Mastery due to being reborn in fire (okay, lava, but ...)?
Also, currently there are messenger creatures running around from ... Faden, I believe? Anything else that attracts major world-wide attention? *peers at the ship* Wait, are you bringing Jongo to my nice, ordered, semi-predictable continent? Off'a my lawn, peasa-I mean, uh ...<_< >_>
Wait, are you bringing Jongo to my nice, ordered, semi-predictable continent?
Only if you ask nicely! Or, eventually, even if you don't.
But as to contacting people with Pride... ummmm... that's a tough one. You could do a variation of what Jongo has been doing with mortals.
For Shirvan, I see him closing his eyes and finding someone who is boasting. Since they are - obviously - inferior, their boasting could be changed into a message from Shirvan.
Not only would it make it so that you can talk at other people, but... it would cut down on the general boasting of mortals. I mean, who wants to suddenly become a messenger for the god of Pride?

You're still focusing solely on the hubris aspect. It's supposed to be Pride in its entirety, though right now more the positive aspect (with aspirations to spiral down into the negative as the game progresses, assuming it's not entirely against how things develop in-game ).
To quote Wikipedia:
Quote:
Pride is an inwardly directed emotion that carries two common meanings. With a negative connotation, pride refers to an inflated sense of one's personal status or accomplishments, often used synonymously with hubris. With a positive connotation, pride refers to a satisfied sense of attachment toward one's own or another's choices and actions, or toward a whole group of people, and is a product of praise, independent self-reflection, or a fulfilled feeling of belonging. Philosophers and social psychologists have noted that pride is a complex secondary emotion which requires the development of a sense of self and the mastery of relevant conceptual distinctions (e.g., that pride is distinct from happiness and joy) through language-based interaction with others.[1] Some social psychologists identify it as linked to a signal of high social status.[2] In contrast pride could also be defined as a disagreement with the truth. One definition of pride in the first sense comes from St. Augustine: "the love of one's own excellence".[3] In this sense, the opposite of pride is either humility or guilt; the latter in particular being a sense of one's own failure in contrast to Augustine's notion of excellence.
I'm just saying that that's a suggestion for how Shirvan can communicate.
If you pick up Fire, though... Well, that'll help!

Just an update on Dasque for the table on the first page. She should only have one major act and a cermony left, and now have the Wind Mastery ability.
Also, is Orusboru still in the game?

You know what Shirvaan needs?
A group of lions as his pets.

The central continent now has a name! Fiero! And slightly to the north of his mark is now a rapidly-expanding city called 'Ates' -- the idea is that it's close enough to benefit from the fertile soil that the volcanoes create as a by-product and close enough to the sea to establish an easily reachable harbor city there.

Also note that other people have sent out contacts! Faden sent out sprites, and Avyra sent out messengers made from clay and bits of her own soul. Haramhold has a sort of low-grade omen going out, as described at the bottom of this post, and Fayruz has her song, which I imagine you could hear at any time thanks to echoes and/or the vagueness of the game's timeline.
Speaking of which, hi-mi, how busy are you right now? Are you up for a meeting between Avyra and Nieve?

Yes, but the joke only works with lions.....
I've also been thinking about names as well and this sandpit of mine needs a name, as does this future city. I'm not really too clued up on my Egyptian though, or whether to bite the bullet and come up with an original naming system.

Proof that avataring standards in the Playground have reached an all-time low:
My writing for this game, so far, has been a nice blend of pre-written event posts, including the quest, which I've been jotting down in a nice big document and then posting from there, and reaction posts which I zip off directly from here and then include in the document. However, between the fact that I'm blending posts I write sometimes weeks before they're needed and posts I'm writing off the top of my head, and the fact that I'm trying to get better at foreshadowing and worldbuilding with every post, I'm worrying that I'm starting to slip into a) inconsistent character voices (poor Gamesha!), b) repetition of the same basic facts (yes, Gamesha's got facial scars, yes, Fayruz wears inside-out white robes, thanks for telling us every time you show them), and c) foreshadowing that just keeps going on and on and on in every post (the Fayheran are in a time of famine? I had no clue!)
I feel that I must ask if these stylistic choices are beginning to grate on anyone else; whether I should keep redescribing characters whenever another of the gods meets them, so that their description is fresh for whoever's doing the reply, or whether I should assume that you know what my characters look like; whether I should continue weaving in the basic facts of the hunger of the Fayheran into my posts or gloss over it since you already know that the Olm and the camps around it are having a very difficult time finding food; whether it irritates you when, say, Fayruz sounds too flowery or air-headed because those are basic facets of her character that I can fall back on easily, or when the degree of Gamesha's casualness in conversation fluctuates between high diction and rough buffy-speak between posts.

Raz I only wish I could write half as well as you have been doing here. Keep up the good work. Repeating descriptions and important issues (scars and hunger) ingrains the fact that these things are important. That they are an integral part of the world.
You don't have to mention the scars for instance every time gamesha does something but you should do so every time he is introduced to a new PC.

Personally, I often find myself digging through the archives looking for relevent bits of data such as you are describing, Raz. That you include them in the post when meeting new PCs is a blessing, not an annoyance, for me.

+1
Also, Aramar is on the verge of starting a war, if anyone would care to drop by. He will be sending out a call in the next post.

Okay. We've got the Green Morningstar on approach velocity, Kalandor approaching the Olm, and the Weaver right there. Is it okay if I write a mega-post detailing how everyone ends up at the Olm, and the various reactions to that?

It should be noted that I Recall that Kalandor said he would get back to the olm two days after the green morningstar. I have not gone back and looked it up so yell at me if I am delusional.

So, to sum up, when the Green Morningstar gets to the Olm, they will first be greeted by superstitious mortals who didn't get the memo throwing weapons at the ship, then by a scarred young man and a copper-haired maiden doing a credible job of beating all those mortals up, and then by Fayruz - who's rocking a much different fashion style than she did back home - singing a song that makes them all stop beating the snot out of each other.
They then have a greeting-party of a wildly enthusiastic Fayruz and said scarred young man, who upon inspection is dressed more like the ladies greeting them than the guys, who's very bad at keeping his mortification off his face, as well as Fayruz's number one fangirl and Fayruz's devoted disciple.
Hilarity ensues?

Someone on the boat willing to restrain Frellon from answering the challenges and insults of the crowd during the time it took for Fayruz to arrive?
He wouldn't kill anyone, just teach them a lesson or two about blasphemy, and attacking strangers... With his sword... What? he's a master swordsman, he knows how to incapacitate without killing.
I'd like to think he would need dissuasion.
On a related note, I cant wait to see how the people react to Jongo. Hilarity ensues indeed.
Yep, I'm coming in two days latter. Maybe more, depending on how much the battle would have delayed me (Up to Raz). Wether or not Faden and freinds are there before me is purely up to you. However, considering he is flying from about the same distance, he might be faster.
Wait, god of travel. Nevermind.
Wait, controlled by being unfermilier with the body.
Up to you.... :P
Edit: Just tell me if I arrive before or after. I've an idea for a grand entrance.
Also, Antimatter, do you mind if I puppet one of your higher level preists sometime soonish. Yes, I will be mindful about not dumping a load of metagame on you.
While I think about it, do orcs/your priest have perfect reacall? (Probally not, just in case)
To avoid harming the sanity of the DM I can no longer:
* Cast flesh to stone on a annoying Druid
** Cast Rock to mud on a Druid statue
*** Scoop mud into little ceramic pots
**** Plant tree's in individual ceramic pots
***** Claim that I have helped them become one with nature
