Ongoing Games (In-Character)Play-by-post games are going on in this forum as we speak (well, read). All threads on this board are actual games, so please, only post on a thread if you are a player of that game.

"The Stone suspects this dragon is either too stupid to hear us, or too intelligent to walk into our attack. The stone is inclined to assume non-white dragons fall into category two. So Gebroni, do you wish to kill the dragon for greed? or some other reason?"

Shake and Shiver look to each other and shrug, and then both begin to move down the corridor, letting Vigis scout ahead but attempting to make sure they are in the front row of any other members.

My reasons for killing the dragon are none of your concern. But let me make this clear, if you do succeed at helping me kill the vile beast, you will not need to worry about coins as long as you are within the walls of Atilersberg.

Vitis Begins moving down the tunnel very slowly along the edge, stopping the moment he sees the dragon. (Vitis is currently invisible.)
You can see a colossal red dragon and... a huge humanoid with large wings on it's back tossing spells at the dragon. This humongous cavern has a ceiling 600 feet up and walls 1200 feet apart. There is a waterfall made of lava on the back wall, it provides adequate light to half the cavern and shadowy illumination to the rest.
If you don't know what the the humanoid is: knowledge (the planes) or knowledge (arcana).

You can see that the dragon... is getting beat by the (I'm just going to say it) Pitfiend.
What are you going to do?
Are you going to help the Red Dragon?
Are you going to help the Pitfiend?
Or are you going to wait until one dies and take out the now sigular weakened enemy?
Or some other idea that you can come up with?

Hey, wait for me shouts Shiver as she launches herself after her sister. Not listening to Sgrag's tactical advice, she lands on the other side of the dragon from Shake and uses her blade to equal effect.

Well... that, that is pain.
Shake hits with all of those attacks... the dragon is a little surprised to be being attacked by a frost giant... especially within such a warm area.
You take (3d6+10)[17] fire damage from the intense heat the dragon gives off.

Sgrag hits with all but the last attack which the pitfiend manages to avoid.
The dragon and pitfiend are now very confused... they haven't a clue what is going. I will allow anyone who hasn't attacked yet, a surprise attack. Otherwise, roll for initiative.
Dragon: (1d20)[12]
Pitfiend: (1d20+12)[32]

There is a large boulder adequate for all of you to stand behind and have complete concealment 30 feet from the both of them.
Alright, then I guess we all followed Vitris and hid behind a boulder.
Knowledge (the planes) (1d20+21)[27]
When his surprise action comes, the stone takes a 5 ft step out from behind the boulder. (Honestly he was invisible, so he may not of even been behind it). As a standard action he casts arcane fusion and therefore casts true casting and then an empowered maximized enervation.
Ranged touch at the pit fiend (1d20+25)[40]
Spell resistance check (1d20+27)[38]
If he hits and gets through, the pit fiend takes 8 negative levels.
The stone draws his sword, adapts a stance (as a free action) that gives opponents a +4 to hit him, but they provoke AoO's. He then raises out his arm, till it is pointed at the pit fiend with his open palm up. A motion is then made, taunting the pit fiend to come closer. "Bring it"
Spoiler
Is it a unfair house rule to say cohorts do not go on surprise rounds?

Where's Atilersberg?
Dunchard moves towards the pit fiend, (180 ft movement)
Initiative (1d20+7)[26]

John, standing there completely oblivious to the dragon and pitfiend pulls a map out of his backpack. We are here, He points to a spot on the map. Atilersberg is here. He points to a spot that based on the scaling of the map that it is approximately 3 miles to the northeast of this cavern.
