I have internet again! Yay! Nationals awesome. More might come when I have a laptop, but for the record, Helio is damn awesome and I'm extremely jealous of their clothes. Note to self, need cool swishy coat.
You know what this says to me? Camden Meetup. It's Nameless's and Mal's stomping grounds also, so thay'd have no excuse for not coming.

Edit: Some orange juice and a laptop rather than a phone has made me slightly more coherent.
If anyone ever has a chance to take part in the student nationals - DO IT. It's amazing fun, and you meet lots of awesome people. If your university doesn't do nationals, persuade them to send even 3 or 4 people - doesn't have to be a massive team, just enough to be represented.
Seconded. It was my first Nationals this year, and I'm gutted that I haven't been before. I'm going to the next one come Hell or high water.

Heliomance, you are a very charming person with an awesome dress sense, an awesome person to talk to and roleplay with, and if you do not come to a meetup any time soon then I will have to modify my journey so I can find you and drag you by the hair there.
Why thank you. You are most delightful yourself, my lady.
Seriously, Cas is a fantastic - and terrifying - roleplayer. After the first day we universally agreed that she was banned from fire thereafter.
The second day she ended up with the power to create 5 extra copies of herself. We facepalmed.
What she's not telling you is that she took third place in our category. The mind boggles at how good the other urban fantasy groups must have been to deny her first place. What she's also not telling you is that Leicester (her uni) came within a hair's breadth of winning the Nationals outright.

Awesome few days. Not much sleep. Please excuse me, I need to go crash.
zz.
This about covers it. And I have a lecture today!

This has to happen.

I have no idea what caused such reactions. I'm perfectly safe with fire. And there can't be anything wrong with lots of me running around...

Hell yeah! There's some good pubs in Camden and I've got a couch if anyone needs a place to crash afterwards (assuming it isn't occupied....). Maybe one of the bank holiday weekends we have coming up?
Someone needs to drag Mal and Nameless in here.

Won't be able to do the May bank holiday. Go back to uni that weekend. And exams mean it may be good to wait until mid June, maybe.

I'm all up for a London mini-meetup. Oxford's only an hour or so away. My exams are over by the twenty-somethingth of May, so I'm good for whenever. Mostly.
Now, let's go find our two impossibly pretty boys and order them into the thread.
Ok, well those folks that want a Londonic mini-meet in mid June - look at 16th or 23rd in that case - will work on something. Bear in mind though that the big UK-wide meet is on the 7th July in Newcastle, or so we have planned....

Camden isn't too difficult for me to reach from Milton Keynes, but I won't commit until I can be sure of not having to work those days... though I will use those dates to inform my booking of holiday...

Just popping in to say hi. I'm a student without a job, so traveling around is hard, but there are a couple of local cons and I'm hoping to get a group togther for Thought Bubble con next August in Leeds.

Shame you didn't find the thread earlier, the last main meetup was in Bradford in Feb...
A con in Leeds you say? Interesting. I shall have to look into that...

It is a great con, right next to the Royal Armories and it is walkable too from the train station. It is a few day thing now, and has 2 halls. Lots of stuff, some famous artists, really great time.

If you're in Leeds it seems Serpy, Lime, Grlump, Totally Guy and maybe Dr. Bath are having a mini-meetup over the weekend.
You might maybe want to go to that perhaps?
Serpy darling's only here for a limited time after all, and I can guarantee first-hand that everyone bar Lime is really awesome. I can't give personal guarantees for Lime because I've not met him, but he seems a lovely guy anyway.

I'm just quoting this so you don't change the phrasing later. Hooray syntax!

Huh?
I spent nine and a half hours walking around in frigidly cold winds, intermittent hail and heavy rain, three and a half hours on the bus and probably things I forgot.
I turned my brain off at five which was when the sister's interview finished.
So as far as the main meetup goes, Hazyshade informs me that he knows a place we should be able to get for free, though they may make up some of the difference by overcharging for drinks. I might want to take a look to be sure it'll work (I have been there before, but upstairs, and didn't pay that much attention to the other floors), but it seems like a good possibility.

So that's Option 1. It's in the centre of town so close to Premier Inn and suchlike. It's cozy, a bit bohemian, might take a little rearranging to make it into a tabletop game venue.
Option 2 is a short metro journey from the centre of town, costs £15 an hour, but has the seal of approval of the local gaming society and drinks are cheaper. Accomodation in the area: my sofa.
Option 3 is near the beach, ridiculously picturesque lighthouse, Thufir/Tasroth's house and 800 B&Bs. It's hosted national board gaming events. Don't know what they'd charge but I have a contact there who might wangle us a discount.
There are other options. Tell me what you're looking for! If there's a cheap space with tables within mooching distance of Newcastle, chances are I've tried to insert a chess club into it at some point.
Well I'd be commuting from Durham so city centre is best for me. I guess that makes option 1 my vote

If/when there is a meetup in Newcastle, I'll almost certainly be along and can potentially provide crash-space over in Gosforth (about 10 minutes metro from the centre).
It occurs to me I should probably figure out which other playgrounders actually live round here now that I've moved north... seem to be quite a lot of you

Any of these options likely to take exception to people bringing outside food, because baking has a tendency to happen...
Option 1, very likely, cos they do a full restaurant food service. Option 2 won't care. Option 3, not sure. They don't sell food but do offer to organise catering.
Option 4: close to Newcastle, might get the upstairs room for free if they can open the upstairs bar, won't care about us bringing baking in.
