So first couple of things that I would like the players to get done, please post me here your statistic block and your listen/spot modifiers since I might do some checks without telling you (unless you succeed)

Some background on important characters of Arcadia

I hope everyone enjoys the game, time to work on the IC thread.

Cool, everyone should pick a colour my headache is keeping me from working properly thanks for indirectly reminding me THEChanger

Secondly does anyone know off a map drawing tool online that I can use to ease combat placing? Haven't found anything on myth weavers and an online search didn't produce anything that I liked.

Here the IC link. I started with everyone sepparated and around Arcadia, so it wasn't you meeting in a room and agreeing to the quest, I hope that this way everyone can develop some of their characters before geting into the party. You can certainly read the other's parts if you want, it is just spoilered to ease the format.

Hi all.

One of my pbp DMs uses a kind of awesome program. I'll have to ask him which one.

Hm...

Vlad
Male Chaotic Neutral Goliath Barbarian 5 // Goliath 1 / Steel Corpse Fighter 4, Level 5 // 4, Init +3, HP 59/59, DR 0, Speed 30'
AC 15, Touch 10, Flat-footed 14, Fort +8, Ref +2, Will +5, Base Attack Bonus 5
Masterwork Greatsword +12 (3d6+12, 19-20 / X2)
Crash +12 (4d6+12, -)
Masterwork Tomahawks (X2) +5 (1d8+6, X2)
Mithril, Spiked Spiked Breastplate (+5 Armor, +1 Dex, -1 Misc)
Abilities Str 22, Dex 12, Con 18, Int 12, Wis 11, Cha 15
Condition None

Incidentally, does anyone know how to get games to show up in the USER CP? I'd rather work from there than from a favorites folder.

NVM Figured out what was wrong

And for a color I'll go with... Olive

Subscribed!

Rosa will speak in purple.

Rosapia
F N Undead Whisper Gnome Cler3/ChInq 1//Rog 2/Swo, Level 4, Init +9, HP 33/33, Speed 30
AC 22, Touch 19, Flat-footed 18, Fort +3, Ref +8, Will +9, Base Attack Bonus 3
10' reach Glaive +5 (1d8+1, x2)
gnome sight MW Light Crossbow (10 cold iron/30 bolts) +9 (1d6, 19-20x2)
2 hidden on person dagger +8 (1d4+1, x2)
quickdraw gnome quickrazor +8 (1d4+1, 19-20x2)
MW studded leather armor (+3 Armor, +4 Dex, +1 Size, +4 Misc)
Abilities Str 12, Dex 18, Con -, Int 16, Wis 20, Cha 14
Condition Command Undead (self, 6 days)
Disguise (at +16 - as her living self)

Rosa defaults to Hunter's Sense stance in social situations, as Child of Shadow is obviously supernatural.

Books used: RoS (whisper gnome), LM (Necropolitan), CChamp (feats and holy symbol), SpC (domains), ECS (domain), Bo9S (swordsage), C War (gnome quickrazor familiarity, not hammer), A&E (crossbow sight, forest cloak)

Cleric Domains: Knowledge, Necromancer, Undeath, Inquisition. Divination at +1 CL, necromancy at +2; +4 to dispel checks; +1 rebuke dam.

Since everyone who responded to the discussion of feat rogue in the recruitment thread said I should actually have feats at 1, 2, and 4, I added Weapon Finesse for the second fighter bonus feat, as I had stated I would get that next time I had a bonus feat. Hope that's all right.

Yeah, about the bonus languages, I picked Terran as one of them since the Whisper Gnome entry said that whisper gnomes like to talk in it as an informal "semi-secret code." The thing is, that entry wasn't clear on the other bonus languages should be, so I took them off the standard gnome list.

Assuming Gnome and Common are free, there's Terran, Draconic (a scholarly language), and Giant as bonuses. I guess I should put them under Skills.

EDIT: Oh, now I see the Languages section.

We could make a table with everyone's language.

By the way let's assume that the symbol of undeath looks like a vial containing a white misty material that seems to swirl from time to time like an unrestful ghost.

And everyone should feel free to post whenever they can, that way we can keep the flow and the thread going, I hope it won't take long before the party unites.

Say she's wearing it on a string off her neck so she can brandish it if need be, and tuck it in if need be, but that it doesn't take up the neck slot*? And that it's surprisingly hard to break for a vial (per the CC stats for all masterwork holy symbols?) Maybe it's made with some unusual glass. I'm just thinking about how she would deal with protecting a holy symbol from theft as well as the occasional physical attack - it would have to be attached to her somehow, not just kept loosely in a pouch (though her spare symbol, that doesn't give bonuses, can be in a pouch.)

*If it does take up the neck slot, that's OK, but then I'll have to describe her wisdom bonus magic item as a circlet or some other slot. Or . . . should the two just be combined into one item?

It is a surprisingly strong glass probably some sort of volcanic glass and magically induced. You can wear it on string around your neck. If you want you can make the two items stack into one, but I don't think it should take a neck slot, you just need to held it to use it though.

It's one of those C. Champ "Special Holy Symbols" which is a masterwork item and provides a +1 caster level bonus (this one for necromancy/Undeath domain) and +1 to rebuking damage. I do love the idea that it's a tiny bit of ectoplasm in a vial.

The text implies that it could take up one hand, but also says that it can be worn and brandished when needed. So I had the idea that she would keep it on a cord around her neck, like an important piece of jewelry. Glasssteel, crystal, and crysteel all come to mind for improving the hardness. It's supposed to be made of rare materials and hard to break, anyway.

EDIT: DM ninja action!

I use Google Docs. I take a spreadsheet and widen the squares until they're about...well, square-shaped. Here is a blank version with some random colors. I generally pick map colors that resemble speech colors. If you want, I could give you edit powers which should allow you to make a copy of it for your own use.

I'll put together a stat block soon, just wanted to post this first.

(My Spot and Listen are below the rest of the skills on my sheet, but I'll add them to the block anyways.)

Holy Symbols are special-slot items. They don't usually take up a slot even if worn. The only real exception to this rule is the reliquary holy symbol from MIC. These are especially powerful and fairly cheap so they take up a neck slot. However it specifically states that they take up a neck slot so it's an exception to the rule. Magic Item Slots are specifically for Magic Items that are slotted. Since the Holy Symbol itself works somewhat like a non-slotted item, it doesn't matter where you put it, though it's technically slotted for a hand like a weapon.

Also, I almost forgot how fun it is to role-play Vlad. I've stated before that this is not his first campaign, but his second. He's a blast.

Personally, I'm interested in what happens when Nor and Vlad start talking. I was hoping you'd be in the game, too, once I figured out I was picked, just for the interactions.

Anyways:

Nor
F Human (Dragonblood) Psion (Kin)//Favored Soul, Level 5, Init +2, HP 53/53, Speed 40
AC 16, Touch 12, Flat-footed 14, Fort +8, Ref +7, Will +8, Base Attack Bonus 3 /39
Magic; primary natural weapon Claws (28,800/day (!)) +4 (1d6+1, 20/x2)
+1 Studded Leather Armor (+4 Armor, +2 Dex)
Abilities Str 13, Dex 14, Con 16, Int 20, Wis 16, Cha 18
Condition Awesome
Perception: Spot/Listen/Search: +6, Sense Motive +7
Knowledge: Arcana, Geography, Nature, Psionics: +9

First post is under construction.

EDIT: Navy: Blue-arrate your life.

Huh. Well thanks! To be honest, I don't usually read other people's backgrounds unless I am DMing, though I have read all of the posts so far in the game thread. So I'll be getting to know your character based on what you write. Based on what I've read from your opening however, I can definitely imagine some fun contrasts.

For me, it depends on what I'm doing at the time. If the opening is good and I'm in the mood for reading, I'll go through all the fluff people post. Sometimes I don't feel like it and just skip over posts that don't concern me.

Yeah, judging by what you've written about fear, etc. there will be contrast galore.

In addition, I think that if I keep up what I'm starting with this post I'll break my previous 20 minutes average/post record in a Pbp.

EDIT: Yeah, breaks included this was something like an hour. I think I might spoiler it next time I write so much.

...I'm looking forward to writing Nor more. She's sort of like a group within a person than a single character, which will be interesting as the campaign goes on.

I'd forgotten about those. I suppose I should consider having the symbol made into one when we get the cash, though I suppose by then I'll have other considerations as well.

. . . Actually, are we using MIC rules for item combination? I know it doesn't matter for the purposes of combining a magical wis item and a nonmagical masterwork symbol, but it might matter later on if I want to add any other neck slot stuff (whether reliquary or something else.)

Oh, sure you did. This little guy is Whisper Hummingbird, he was part of a troupe that passed through Arcadia a couple of years ago. When they left the town the troupe was attacked by wild beasts and even if the Silent Knights saved most of them the morals of the troupe were broken, most of the surviving crew disbanded and left. Whisper is one of the few that still lives in Arcadia, he is a great story teller and many inns give him shelter in exchange of entertainment.

My bad, I forgot to include it originally on the post.

He suggested that you use photobucket for map editing and for me to link you this.

I'll put together a stat block soon, just wanted to post this first.

(My Spot and Listen are below the rest of the skills on my sheet, but I'll add them to the block anyways.)
Google Docs seems like an interesting idea, I'll give it a try.

Casualcryptic I hope Vlad is enjoying his new elf friend, she is a nice person, a bit obtuse though.

I expected Nor to do stuff while waiting

It is not like you have to wait for the party, there are people there...
