The "neutral" thing is pretty funny, given that we were in every war in Europe before WW1.

As for the banks, we had to bail them all out (massively), accounts aren't secret (anymore) and foreign governments still tax them.

Well damn. All that's left now are guards in funny uniforms - people might start mistaking Switzerland for England!

Americans, duh. If it's not here, we don't learn about it. Heck, even when it IS here, we don't half the time. I've had classmates ask which country Mississippi is in, and it's only 3 states away!

I don't understand, there are people who don't drink tea? I thought humans had to drink, or they died of thirst?

We drink tea, it's just sweet iced tea, not the nastiness that people drink in the UK.

I've always wanted to go to England and break out a gallon of iced tea during tea time, and some KFC biscuits (or ones that are at least that good). That would count, right?

Why would you let your tea go cold, then drop fruits in it? Sounds like laziness to me.

Fruit? Psh, the only things I want in my tea are ice and sugar, maybe a little rum.

Madness. Next you'll be telling me you don't eat crumpets for breakfast everyday, or have a butler.

What would I do with a butler? They can't milk cows or tend goats.

I don't know about crumpets, but bangers and mash is fantastic. I can't imagine why it's not popular in the US.

[edit]Oh yeah, hey Zem, the names on the darker-colored districts on the map are hard to read, could you make those white or something next turn?

I may have to try bangers and mash if I ever get the chance, but it'll be hard for it to beat pretty much any southern food. the deep south has to have some of the best food in the world, in my opinion (granted, i'm a little biased, but it's still amazing)

I dunno, New England is pretty much the bomb. Then again, I like almost any food as long as it's high-quality.

[edit] I will admit, though, that key lime pie is fantastic, but in the fall here, the food is just fantastic. It amazes me how much better fresh apples taste than storebought ones. Also, you can't really get real maple syrup much south of New York. That's something I'm not sure I could live without. I will admit that sweet tea is okay, as teas go, but cider is really good- cold or hot.

You really should try bangers and mash- it's good.

I've just never been to any English-speaking country where they had any good bread. And I've been to England, Australia and the US, for quite some time each. Most people eat this tasteless mushy toast crap, and even when you buy fresh bread in a bakery, it's just... tasteless. And soft, often.

If I ever move to any English-speaking country, I'll have to bake my own bread. And import some proper cheese from somewhere.

Key lime pie is ok. Pecan pie is godly though. I can't get enough of it. same with bbq. I'm actually not sure i've ever had real maple syrup... Probably not since I've never been as far north as NY. Is cider really a NE thing? I've had local cider all my life in SC. it was even one of the things we made at a "colonial south" recreation we went to on a field trip in elementary school. We also got to make candles and clean fish, it was pretty epic.

Oh, I love the Swiss form of direct democracy, and wish that the model would spread. Sadly, it doesn't look like it will.

Anyway, I have to agree with Eldan on the bread thing. I'm from Finland and there's no proper rye bread anywhere else.

For the record, there is a bakery near where I live which makes a fantastic bread. Good bread isn't impossible to find, you just have to know where to look.

Also, yeah, cider isn't just a new england thing, but cider I've had other places has always seemed watered-down to me. I've never had SC cider, though, so I dunno.

On the topic of cheese, it really depends ob your defenition of 'proper' cheese. I can say that sharp cheddar and chèvre are fantastic, but I imagine that's not quite what you mean.

Never tasted real maple syrup? That, my freind is a travesty, and a tragedy to boot. I can't imagine how you get by on that nasty corn-syrup-and-dye crap. Gingerbread pancakes with a good grade B dark amber syrup (the grading goes grade A fancy (light amber), grade A medium amber, grade A dark amber, and so on with grade B, progressing from least to most flavor, thickness, and color) is truly fantastic.

I will admit that I liked pecan pie the one time I've eaten it, but that could be because the person who made it could make anything taste good- no joke. If you want a good new-englandy pie, try strawberry rhubarb pie.

For the record, though, I'm not saying I actually dislike any of that food.

You know, I really didn't expect this to turn into a discussion about the food of the world.

.
No, those would count. I guess I'm influenced by Australia here, where you either got this plastic-smelling, bright yellow sandwich cheese, or paid about five times the price than you'd pay at home.

How much of a penalty will my forces take if I refuse to use lethal force? It'd be nice if I could knock the criminal overlords out rather than murdering them when I liberate a region. That way I can put them on trial, which would be more just.

Well, if you want to capture just the leaders of the gangs, that wouldn't be much of a penalty at all. If you want to avoid killing anyone, that would be a helluva lot harder.
