Well it seems like a bit of a jump in logic that he doesn't have any monastic training but when he receives training from an aging ranger he becomes a monk... wouldn't he become a ranger?
Re: Cormyr: The Tearing of the Weave [Pathfinder, Forgotten Realms, Recruiting]
I guess I'm using ranger in the sense that he's a woodsman, not actually someone from the ranger class. Maybe the old man in the woods was once part of a monastic order so he passes it down to my character, but I'd prefer if he wasn't in some temple on a mountain top himself. Since they've removed the divine spellcasting from the Monk class, it feels easier to rebrand it as something non-monastic. It is a class that focuses on discipline and skill at arms, so it really could be another flavor of fighter or ranger. If you make him chaotic he becomes an excellent Robin Hood class. Unarmored archer with amazing trick shots that is agile and wily? I like it.
Re: Cormyr: The Tearing of the Weave [Pathfinder, Forgotten Realms, Recruiting]
I wasn't aware that the Monk class ever had divine spellcasting. In what edition were they divine spellcasters?
You cannot make a Zen Archer Monk chaotic. Monks must be lawful in alignment to represent the stringent training and discipline they undergo to achieve their physical prowess as taught to them by a sensei.
Really, the only way I see this background making any sense is if the old man from the woods is a monk.
Re: Cormyr: The Tearing of the Weave [Pathfinder, Forgotten Realms, Recruiting]
@Tevin: If I take the Adopted trait (raised by a human), would that give me access to the default racial traits (I'm looking at the Bonus Feat trait) or would that only give me access to the traits listed in the Traits section of the SRD?
Re: Cormyr: The Tearing of the Weave [Pathfinder, Forgotten Realms, Recruiting]
I've never had to work around a strength penalty before! It's surprisingly difficult. Got my shopping all done, and descriptions written.
Thanks for the consideration =).

It only allows you to take one of the Race Traits.
If you could use the Adopted trait to get bonus feats from the human I'm sure everyone would be taking it. With the additional traits feat you could take a trait and gain a feat all for the price of a feat, for example.
Sorry, there's no 3rd party or homebrewed content allowed in this game. Please, feel free to still make a character if you wish but you'll have to use the official paizo sources from the SRD.
@riccaru: That archetype would be fine, not a bother at all. I look forward to seeing what you come up with.
Re: Cormyr: The Tearing of the Weave [Pathfinder, Forgotten Realms, Recruiting]
I'm back and working on my character sheet. Given the lack of clerics at this point, and the abundance in arcane spell casters... I've changed direction.
I'm designing a dark elf cleric of elistraee, as seen below. I'll finish it off tonight for your deadline.

Re: Cormyr: The Tearing of the Weave [Pathfinder, Forgotten Realms, Recruiting]
Ok, I'm looking at a dwarf barbarian (probably arctic or shield dwarf) from the Spine of the World region (breastplate and 2 potions Cure Light Wounds). Can subraces take Alternate Racial Traits they qualify for?

Depends on what the alternate racial trait is you're talking about. Some of the subraces have different versions of a racial trait that may be weaker than those of the base race. I'll need to check what you wanted to replace specifically.

Oops, sorry, missed your question. After reading it I had a look and realized there's a table of magic items...when I added the ring I just used the magic item creation rules and added I think 50 gold for a ring. I'll have a look at the pre-made magic items if you want me to remove the ring.
EDIT: Oh, and sheet + post are updated with personality.
Re: Cormyr: The Tearing of the Weave [Pathfinder, Forgotten Realms, Recruiting]
I decided to go with the standard Arctic Dwarf. The only thing I really wanted to change was Greed, and the only options to trade it in for were either worthless or at odds with the flavor.
That being said, here's the stats for Eitri Clinkenbeard. Background still needs to be written, but I wanted to make sure the stats got enough time to be reviewed.
Question: The regional equipment I've chosen is a breastplate. If I pay 150 gp, can I have the breastplate be masterwork? (So that it can also be enchanted)
Re: Cormyr: The Tearing of the Weave [Pathfinder, Forgotten Realms, Recruiting]
Ok...did some thought and pondering on my choices and have come with some questions:
First, for the available FR-only races, do they have the favored class bonuses options of the PF version? What about alternate racial features?
For example, does a half-drow have the same favored class bonuses options as a half-elf? Or could a half-drow exchange Multitalented for Drow Magic?
In a similar fashion, what about the orcs? Do they have access to Half-Orc options?
Now for deities interests, so I'm going either for Mystra herself or an Infiltrator Inquisitor of Cyric (or Mask if you're looking for a less antagonistic character) who is posing as a follower of Mystra to steal secrets or destroy the church from inside-out.
I'm personally more into making an archer, but the definite choice will depend on domain choices.
And lastly...while I was making the character, the idea of making an Oracle of Helm popped in my mind, one that acts (and possibly even thinks of himself) as an avatar of Helm himself.
But for this concept to work, I have to know if Helm is still alive (couldn't find the post where you mentioned the time period) or if I'd be allowed to make such a character but have my deity be one of Helm's allies but maintaining the character's demented view that he is Helm personified.

And the time period is at the very end of the first post. It's - *double checks* - Fall of 1374.

As for alternate racial features, as I stated a few posts ago, ask me which you want to change specifically and I'll let you know. Favored class bonuses are the same, ask me on a case by case basis.
Your Infiltrator Inquisitor character (whether he follows Mask or Cyric) is completely at odds with the campaign, so that wont work. I'd suggest using one of your other ideas.
Helm is still alive this happens in the fall of 1374, it was mentioned in the initial post. This game takes place prior to the spellplague since a church of Mystra is a main factor in the first adventure.
You mentioned something about domains affecting your choices so here are the domains for the valid character ideas:
Planning Domain
Granted Powers:
- Precise Planning (Su): As an immediate action you can choose to reroll an initiative roll you or any ally within 30 feet has just made. You must take the second result even if it is worse. You can use this ability a number of times per day equal to 3 + you Wisdom modifier.
- Planned Casting (Ex): At 6th level once per day you can cast a cleric spell you have prepared as if it were prepared with the Extend Spell feat without increasing the spell slot used to cast the spell. You can use this ability once per day at 6th level and 1 additional time per day for every 4 levels gained beyond 6th. Domain Spells: 1st deathwatch, 2nd augury, 3rd clairaudience/clairvoyance, 4th status, 5th detect scrying, 6th heroes feast, 7th scrying, greater, 8th discern location, 9th time stop.
And provided the character isn't planning to overthrow the church of Mystra here's Mask:

I'm also rather new to forum RPGs, but I'm very interested in applying for consideration :)
I was thinking about a half-elf bard and piety of Sune. Due to his charismatic nature, he's a bit of a cynic and rather keen on spreading stories and ballads of his exploits in love. A basic foundation, but I enjoy playing a more comical type character.
