Why the hell(pardon the pun) is there demon Slick in today's comic anyway? Last time I checked, Slick was his regular self and now... he is not.

I am starting to believe that what Gez said was true. Namely, that Tat is demonizing sexual attraction itself. Yes, I had my doubts about that until now, but after todays comic, not so much.

And that is very bad.

I read this comic on monthly batches and I just finished August.

I have to admit the Crimey/Foosh being in the friend zone really put me off. I looked at reactions in the forums and some people argue that it just means it's a "pure" type love or that maybe Crimey doesn't feel that way about Foosh and Foosh deals but my impression is like Deme.

I have been really rooting for those two to get together. Ten years and there hasn't been a single, healthy, romantic, adult relationship I can point to. The closest I can think of offhand is Abe and Lady Liberty and that is NOT a healthy relationship. Maybe Tat's real problem is he just has no idea how to do a comic about two people in love.

Instead of all the Trike Girls, beating everyone with sticks, why not give some positive reinforcement instead? Without a healthy, mature, relationship as an example, he is only giving us two choices, friendship or lechery.

Also, I'm really tired of porn being portrayed as a no-exceptions, universal evil. I can't help but note that the countries that forbid it are also ones with the fewest human rights for women. You don't like porn, then go down to the progressive country of Sudia Arabia. He's doing a good job in saying that he doesn't like porn but what does he want instead and how does that impact our freedoms?

Women have the right to do with their bodies as they want. Unless Tat is implying that these women are slaves? Being looked at as an object is farworse then BEING an object (Plus, that way of thinking is simply not acceptable to speak in public anymore, generally). I don't think he understands the difference anymore. You can THINK whatever you want, no matter how horrible but acting on it is a different matter.

How far does this go anyway? What is the line of what is the bad end? Anything hardcore is likely a no brainer but after that what? Nudes? What about drawings? If drawings are not allowed what about novels? Hey isn't there a book going around?"Fifty Shades of Gray" I believe, that is being bandied around as mommy porn? Maybe ban that too? Then we go on to swimsuit Illustrated and tight outfits? Where does it end what is this line he's drawing?

Maybe he should just make a pill for the comic and call it an erection suppressant. I think that could make a more amusing story that still explores the same themes as this mess does. At least give them a "posititive" outlet for their hormones. Taking porn away doesn't erase the feelings that compel people to seek it out, you know.

Hmm, what do men do without porn or making a pass at someone they find attractive? Hmm, generally fantasize about girls they have met in real life and think about them in an erotic manner, I guess.

...Yea, I doubt Tat will promote that either, so erection suppressant, it is.

The sad thing is, part of me wants to take advantage of it.

Someone asked why there's a devil Slick in yesterday's comic instead of real Slick.

I guess tat is trying to keep real Slick a little nicer. Maybe he even has a confrontation planned between the 'nice and trying to be respectful to women' Slick and devil Slick wherein devil Slick is being sent away or destroyed or whatever.

I think tat is spreading his 'objectifying=bad' message wayyy better with Slick than with the ultrafeminist characters and sinfest could do better without the latter.

Eh i thought it was rather weak... i mean how often do you hear about people throwing tomatoes at a feminist poet? Really it seems like most of the poeple who don't like feminist usually tend to just ignore them rather than respond to them unless they do something that can't be ignored. The exception to this might be if you you live in an incredibly conservative society; the kind of societies that actually limit the freedom of women... Honestly just seem like the devil is unlikely to get much business from that little venture.

What i think would have been a good stroke for the devil... charging people for admission to see nique (without nique knowing about it) and then spending the profits to build a new strip club; thus nique's feminist poetry inadvertently serves to help objectify women.

You're overthinking it.

This is a poetry place. Feminist poetry isn't seen as being good. Therefore, people watching will hate it. Therefore, people will want to throw rotten fruit at the poet.

Therefore, he sells fruit to the audience to throw at Nique. He makes his money, which he presumably spends on devil things. It's quick, it's to the point, and unlike pretty much every preachy, whiny, godawful sorry excuse for a comic we've gotten in the last six months or so, *actually pokes fun at the subject matter it talks about*. It's nice, concise, tells a good message while making me smirk: Evil doesn't like feminism, but feminism isn't usually all that good an overtone, so evil profits off feminisim BECAUSE it's not that great.

Being curious . . . Do people actually throw rotten fruit and vegetables at stage performers? Is that a real thing? Does it still happen?

Because I have only ever seen that phenomenon in things like cartoons.

It's generally not a thing, they just boo loudly. But this IS a comic strip. (I'm not gonna input on the trike-kids beyond this. They are creepy.)

Jeez. I followed a link from TVtropes to Sinfest, started reading some of the older strips around the introduction of the not-totally-evil-devil-girl person. Having already looked at some of the links in this thread I'm amazed they're even the same comic.

...it...it can't be...was that the meta joke of them all along? That they intentionally are so offputting because...my god...

Nope. But I'll pretend like it was to make me feel better. I've enjoyed these last few comics a lot - especially today's one.

Le gasp, today's comic was actually funny without being preachy. This, Mr. Ishida, is what the people want.
