Finding Players (Recruitment)Look for players for chatroom, play-by-post, or even real-life games here. Threads will expire after 3 months, so be sure to move important information to your OOC thread.
Instead i'll get a Masterwork Scorpion Whip and a Rod of Elemental Metamagic, lesser.
Remember that Magus needs a free hand for most of his abilities, so using a metamagic rod could get complicated without a Glove of Storing or a weapon cord
Damnation am I now going to find out that one has to be actually holding a metamagic rod for it to be used? I had been told it just had to be on your person.
I'll get two more Pearls of Power lvl1 instead then.
Ive got the character created. will purchase Items and complete the spell book soon. Alexandria Hallowmen(Alex Half-Tooth)

Backstory:
Spoiler
Here I am. Killing another one, he was easy, he tried to scry to see if I was coming, but I could easily counter that. Before I entered the building, I just turned myself invisible. Staying in the shadows until he was unaware, that was the best time to srike, I reached into the shadows and pulled out a blade, the darkness was curling around my hand and my heart. I through one of my normal daggers into his chest and then approached he dagger sunk into his neck, where he gurgled a bit, while he still was alive, I took the chance to enjoy myself, I twisted, his eyes opened wide in pain, then he died. Like countless others, I ended his life before he could so much as speak. When you've killed as many people as me, it stops being special, I no longer learn their names unless I need to interrogate them and even them, I don't remember. But I wasn't always like this, no, I used to be a kind and normal person.
I was born, in a house in the country with just my parents, I grew up like a normal child, then they came. The shadow preists, they were raiding our farm, then they attacked the house both my parents died instantly and I thought I had the same fate, but they had different plans for me. They took me and did experiments on me, infused me with the power of the shadow and gave me magical powers. At first I was fine, I was released inot the world at the age of sixteen. I'd spent four years in the laboratary and with the rules on magic and my evergrowing ability, I needed to find a guild. At first I just didn't use my magic and tried to live like a normal person. I worked as a diplomat between guilds, pretending to be nonmagical.
But then it happened, I fell in love. One of the senior members of the guilds, she was beautiful and I instantly fell for her. We lived together for many years and got married when I was 22, a few months after our wedding I found her sleeping with another. I embraced the power of the shadow, I let the shadow preists' anger overcome me, I got all the magic stored inside me and lashed out; I killed them both. I tried to hide the corpses, but the hidden kings found out what I had done. They could have had me executed, for both not joining a guild and killing two people, but instead they employed me, they needed someone of my skills as an assasin. After that I let my past go including my name and became the Shadow Assasin.
Since then, I have killed many people and I admit that I enjoy my work, everytime I kill I think of her and my rage returns so I kill inflicting as much pain as I can in the last moments. Now I need to clean my knife before the blood encrusts it.

Character completed! Took me a lot longer than I had original anticipated but she is done, backstory and all. Hopefully the character sheet is intuitive enough.
I am genuinely very sorry about this, GM, but I am going to have to change my back story. I wrote the original one for a female character, and for one who was evil, and I'm just having writer's block about imagining trying to RP Lyle as a Good male yet with the same back story.
Consequently i've written a new one, shown below.
Please let me know about any changers you'd like me to make if necessary to better make him fit in with the setting or campaign.
Spoiler
He probably should have expected this; after spending five years locked up in his precious tower, researching magic and the Planes, he should have expected some… contamination. But who could expect it to arrive in this form?
These were Marcel Rihannsu's thoughts when he went to visit a favoured prostitute of his in the large town of Logas, and found himself presented with a crying, horned, tailed and ever so faintly green baby. The mistress of the house promptly had him and the infant chucked onto the streets, and the muddy wizard grimly trudged home.
For twenty years, Marcel had endured the rigours of being an adventuring wizard; suffering through stultifying party members, brutish fighters, ungrateful villagefolk and generally people who didn't realize that the only thing stopping a mage from blasting the world with arcane fire was the fact that he'd probably burn his books while he did it.
Finally, he had earned enough gold and gained enough knowledge and power to have created a small tower all his own; a respite from the world, nearly untouchable by arcane attempts and completely unfindable by mundane means. Apart from his brief trips to town to buy supplies, scan through the book merchant and satisfy his physiological needs, Marcel was free to indulge in hours upon hours upon months of blissful magical research.
Well, until this latest interruption.
Returning to his tower, Marcel took off his coat and arranged it on a workbench into something resembling a mattress, and placed the infant upon it. Hmm tail, horns, discoloured skin and yes eyes I haven't seen since I was trying to track down that archdemon in Falenia… I would appear to have a tiefling son.
Bother.
With a sigh, Marcel took some random syllables from a favourite spell of his and named his child Lyle, then proceeded to convince some hysterically laughing demonic servants of his to try and refurnish his wardrobe into a room with a crib.
Despite the quite astounding parental ineptitude of his father, Lyle managed to grow up healthy and fit, even if he had inherited his father's incredible muscularity; that is to say, he usually required a twenty-foot run-up to get the tower's stone doors open. Despite some clumsy and *CRASH*-causing attempts in the beginning, Lyle proved a useful research partner to his father, becoming more and more adept with his tail until he could calmly slide ten jars and a box off the shelf and place it on the workbench before Marcel even realized he needed them. In return, Marcel instructed Lyle in some of his magical knowledge, and his father's proudest moment was when Lyle summoned lightning and gave a terrible, malicious smile when Marcel asked what the exact method for dealing with a recalcitrant meat-shield was.
It was some years before Marcel took Lyle into town with him. Lyle was quite surprised to find the other townspeople pointing, shouting and in some cases throwing things at him. Marcel, adventurer though he was, had spent several years in isolation from the world and so had forgotten something about tieflings. Namely, as he told his son after they returned to the tower, that they were mistrusted, feared and often despised on sight. Hesitantly, Marcel offered magical disguise as a solution to Lyle, but the latter refused; the sight of the jeering townsfolk had stung his newly-formed pride, and he resolved to attempt to befriend them.
It took the better part of the year for this to occur; oftentimes Marcel went with him and let him talk to the other children, sometimes they shared errands. Slowly, the people got more used to Lyle- aided by the fact that he was pleasant and polite, even if he did have far too great a vocabulary than was deemed healthy for a boy. The clincher was, oddly enough, his tail. The townspeople were astonished and then impressed by the ease and dexterity he displayed with his natural implement, and once convinced that he was no pickpocket they became interested in first his tail, then his other powers and finally himself.
One day, Lyle was browsing through the marketplace when he noticed something for sale in one of the traders' carts- a whip. Fascinated by its similarity with his tail, he bought it from the man- like the townspeople, Lyle was unknowing of its origin and function in the Dungeons of Falenia. He practiced with it and eventually became as adept with it as he was with his tail, with the added convenience of an increased reach; plus, this implement wasn't attached to his butt.
Lyle's life, while not joyous but certainly content, came to an end when an enemy named Danzo Marcel had inadvertently made many years ago tracked him down. Livid at the discovery that Marcel, rather than worrying and preparing and scheming for his enemy's arrival all these years, had instead been quietly getting on with his research, he stormed the castle with a small army. Most of these were taken down by the demons, traps and other enchantments the wily Marcel had set in place as a precaution over the years, but eventually Danzo and a small group of the hired thugs broke into Marcel's inner chamber. Attempting to teleport the boy away, Marcel was stopped in his casting by a rapier through the chest, sending him to his knees. The distraught Lyle ran forward to try and help him but was kicked back by Danzo easily, flinging the weak tiefling across the room, before he drove the blade through Marcel's chest once more. Shrieking with anger, Lyle summoned a charge of lightning in his palm and ran at Danzo again, only to be similarly rebuffed. Danzo ran his blade through Marcel's chest a third and final time, causing his breathing to stop after a final burst of blood from his throat, his body crashing to the ground, his eyes still.
Loudly, Danzo began to laugh and gloat over his enemy's corpse, proceeding through an itemized list of the wrongs Marcel had done to him in the past. Lyle, collapsed against the opposite wall, felt a wave of anger and sadness and pain slowly drive him along like a wave, propelling him into a small cube within his mind with walls of clear glass. The tiny spark of an idea erupting, coursing through the walls of that little cube, Lyle slowly reached for a small knife stowed in a shelf behind his back…
None of his hired thugs were quite sure if Danzo knew what had killed him. Certainly, he turned around- more due to the spasming contortions of his body than any effort of will. The question was whether his brain was still active or fried to cinders behind those astonished eyes as he watched Lyle, clutching his cut-off tail by its bloody stump, charge another ball of lightning in his free hand and, with a series of loud whi-*CRACK*s- proceed to channel it through his improvised whip and send it slicing out at each thug, downing them in a brief festival of sparks and spasms.
It was nearly two weeks before Lyle emerged from that tower; dumping the corpses of the thugs and the man who had killed his father out the door did not count. When he did, he was a man. A heavy, scroll-stuffed backpack in his hand and his tail, leathered and hardened and stringed with steel, tied at his side. Pulling a scroll from his jacket, he faced the tower and read out the words. Slowly and timorously, the tower began to descend gracefully into the ground, inch by inch foot by foot, accelerating as it slid beneath the earth.
Nodding solemnly, Lyle turned and began walking to town.
Lucky that he did, for nearly immediately after he set off an immense, deep *BANG* was heard as a small storm of fire erupted out of the ground, gold and green and red fireworks streaking into the sky as Lyle leapt back with a shocked yelp. When the spectacle was over, the ground surrounding where the tower had stood was burnt into an enormous mosaic of obsidian and glass, shining like the heart of a crystal sun in the daylight.
Lyle proceeded to swear lustily at the absent Marcel, cursing both his vanity, his disregard for innocent bystanders and "your bloody wizard's obsession with geological vandalism!"
Finally calming down, Lyle smiled faintly for the first time since Marcel had fell in that room two weeks ago my god two weeks already so long ago but it seems like it happened just now just this second watching him fall watching him stop being Lyle sighed and wiped a tiny glittering tear away from his bright eyes, and strode away over the sands. Goodbye, Marcel. Father.
Lyle inherited many things from his father; an obsession, nearly a fetish for magical research and logical rigour, a certain whimsicality linked with an enjoyment of the vagaries of grammar and vocabulary, but above all a respect for intelligence and for sentience; a detached researcher's respect, but respect nonetheless.
With one difference, thought Lyle with an inner voice colder than anything he had heard within himself before. I will not leave alive those who destroy. Gripping his whip so hard his hand turned white, he stared intently off into the horizon. I will not let them end me like they ended him. Like they would end others. He was too good, and that gave him a stupid death. This will not be my fate.
Since some one has gone ahead with my idea of playing a magus can I play something else?
My idea would be for a Paladin (or an Anti-paladin if people scoff at me playing an LG character)
BTW both classes have had their alignment restrictions loosen enough to be able to join forces with people of any alignment but then again that doesn't mean he'll go along with plans to kill innocents (or save the world for free if anti-paladin)

I would prefer a Paladin over an Anti-paladin. I'd much rather have good characters than evil characters.

The council of guilds have no restrictions on spell use. What you do with spells might be a crime, depending on where you are.
How would your pally like my assasin who enjoys his work?
That depends on who you kill and why you're killing him, if your assassin kills people for money or personal satisfaction, no. But keep in mind that the forces of good also has stealth types that kill people. I might not like the fact that you poisoned a tyrant but if it did save thousands of lives otherwise lost in an uprising, it could be considered a lesser evil.
I'll mainly object if you kill innocents or take jobs from people of doubtious morality. The fact that you take pride in your work is fine, talking about gruesom details might annoy me though.
Might as well talk about this now before we get caught up in personal issues.
That's cool, Ark, but it's a bit on the long side and it doesn't really cover the important bits. I know more about other characters than I know about Lyle. It's an entertaining read, but it tells very little about Lyle.

Interesting setup. Alexandria heard this story from Bane, right? Also, how does she look? I have an image of a female half-orc from the Shadowrun rulebook that I simply can't get out of my mind.

Aasimar is a +2 Int race?! From pfsrd I get the usual +2 Wis, +2 Cha.
Also, Imesah might take apprentices, but an actual school is above the guild's resources. We don't really have magic item 'shops' per se in this world - you have to commission stuff from spellcasters, it's basically on demand. The only items you'll find for sure are low level potions and scrolls, that's the closest you can get to a magicmart.
Have you considered Qigong Monk? It gets a lor more magical. Dragon Style Qigong Monk taking advantage of those Str boosts from Dragon Disciple looks nasty.

Hmm, finally checked out non-core stuff and found a bit of a treasure trove; Qinggong monk isn't really what I was looking for, but Dragon Style sure as heck was, soon as Seryn hits 2 levels in Dragon Disciple she'll be rocking Dragon Style for sure.
Still hammering away at that history, got the key components like orphan(or some reason she ends up at monastery)->monk->pilgrimage->discover dragon blood->learn magic/join guild, just need to fluff it up and stuff.
Hmm you are very much correct, Thiago. Apologies for making you work so hard for me :P
No problem, it was an entertaining read. You don't really have to change it.

I recommend taking Dragon Style early on so you can take Dragon Ferocity later. Elemental Fist is also empowered by Dragon Style and I think it fits your concept.

It's not a writing sample but this may better explain Lyle enjoy!
Personality- Long
Spoiler
Lyle is generally polite and pleasant though he has a tendency to behave in odd ways stemming from having grown up in a tower- thinking out loud, looking startled when it starts raining on him, etc. Has a tendency to lapse into magic-babble and mage occasional puns and jokes, most of which have his warrior-type companions as the target. He also has a large vocabulary and tends to use odd, long or unusual words, often all three at once. In combat his normally warm and open personality becomes much colder, and often he strikes to kill rather than disarm or stop, particularly when fighting people he considers evil. This sometimes brings him into trouble, which he never apologizes for. He is aware his Tiefling heritage is off-putting or anger-inducing to some, but refuses to take offence or get angry about the reactions of others to his appearance, and usually tries to engage them in a rational, philosophical discussion. Failing that, he's not too proud to flee.
Personality- Short
Spoiler
-Can act odd because he grew up in a tower.
-Often becomes cold and strikes to kill in combat.
-Generally polite and pleasant.
-Often speaks in magic-babble and makes puns/etc at warriors' expense.
-Refuses to take offence at how others perceive his being a Tiefling.
Joining the Guild (I was assuming we were in the Hidden Kings, apologies if mistaken)
Spoiler
Much to Lyle's disappointment, he had difficulty in joining one of the magic guilds. He wanted to initially to gain access to their reserves of knowledge and magic lore, and then for reasons of pride after his first rejection. Essentially, when interviewed by Mages he was perceived as too brutish, and when interviewed by Warriors they found him too much like an arrogant magician. His Tiefling appearance didn't help, either.
Eventually he applied to join the Hidden Kings guild, who recognized his potential and did not care about his heritage. From this recognition and for coming down hard on any who abused Lyle for his race, the guild earned his gratitude and service and he rose to become a respected and powerful guild member.
Also, Imesah might take apprentices, but an actual school is above the guild's resources.
I've actually bought what I think is a decent amount of stuff for the school out of Imesah's starting money. The school doesn't have to be anything fancy, she could just be switching between the student's homes and teaching them from there or if it's a nice day teach them outside. Her main focus is teaching the younger ones how to read and write. If they want to continue their education thats a extra bonus and if they want to join the school thats just gravy.

The original plan for the emporium was a tiny shop that was open for one day a week to take orders and closed the rest. Basically just a fancy ordering booth. I'll change it to a sign on her office door and have it rely on word of mouth.
A much much longer story of Alex and Bane told from Alex's perspective and a more solid Idea of what Alex looks like. Enjoy I'll work on the eqipment and spell soon. Promise.
Alex's story
Spoiler
Alex sat across the table from her teacher Theresa Bane her mentor and mother for the past 18 years. She was in the form of a middle aged human woman wrinkles and crow’s feet only hinted at in her Peach colored skin with short cropped hair giving her a plain and simple appearance with the drab brown clothing she wore .Her Eyes though were a dark green and spoke her true nature sharp and stern they were looking at Alex with no hint of joking or play.
“Alex it is time I told you the truth of how you came to me and what must now happen. I didn’t discover you in the woods all those years ago. “
“So where did I come from?”
“I acquired you in a deal with a noble man your father.”
“I was SOLD!?” She started to get up ready to flip the table.
“Sit down. There is more to it than that it. It was to save your life and your mothers.” Bane responded
Alex sat back down.
“It starts with your mother. She was a Mage of a guild called The Factotum. When she married your father it caused quite the stir. He was the youngest son of a foreign noble a much sought after prize by the other noble women there were whispers of her seducing him with magic.”
“Was it true?”
“No Idle gossip generated by flint tongued harpies in ball gowns. Your mother was head strong and fierce a lot like you. Your father likewise he hated the pomp and circumstance she would often find him alone in the library reading. That’s how they met.”
“Over time they married.” She took a sip of her tea and smiled as if remembering some far off place.
“But there was trouble someone decided to tear your family to shreds. A week before you were due your mother fainted and dark scar started to appear on her neck. Some simple magic revealed she was cursed a simple matter to most people .Curses can removed for the right amount of jink by most healers , but this curse was different. Every healer that came left ashamed. The curse was too strong and getting stronger. “
“You were lucky to be born that night your mother so weak. But she held you in her arms before she left this world the mark around her neck appearing like black hand prints chocking her. As your father held you in his arms I appeared I had comewhen I heard about your mother but was too late. Your father held you in his arms crying and that’s when it appeared around your neck was the same black hand print and I watched your life was slowly fading away.”
‘Your Father begged for me to save you and I did him one better. I saved both you and your mother. But at a terrible price. The spell was desighned to affect humans and to cling to their souls If I had tried to resurrect you and your mother it would have just killed you again so I tricked it.
‘I had learned to resurrect creatures in different bodies to give them rebirth. That is how I saved both you and your mother. She became a half-elf. You a Half-orc.
Your father fainted at the sight of you both. I can’t tell if that was because of shock or happiness.
“Either way once you’re mother and father regained conscious they made a plan. Whoever targeted your mother and you was powerful and dangerous. They would go into hiding while I took you and trained you.”
“That is the story of how you came to be.”
Alex just looked at the old woman astounded ” so what where their names? where are they now?”
“That my dear Alex is for you to discover” she said as she sipped her tea with that smile. That knowing smile that Alex hated.
“WHAT!?”
“I can’t give you all the answers haven’t you learned that by now.”
Alex's description
Spoiler
As I walked in to the guild house I spied the Half orc the man had told me about. She was hunched over a book about some past events every so often muttering something about a bane and answers.
She was dressed in a simple style a green shirt with a brown vest and a pair of deep brown cotton pants with a pair of simple shoes. Her hair was knotted in a messy bun with a pair of needles holding them together. She had dark green skin like jade and her eyes were quite blue. She suddenly turned and yelled at me.
“You got something to say, spit it out. I’m busy with research.” She had a gruff voice like many half-orcs with tinges of country to the accent.
She had over her right eye a tattoo. It was a symbol of a circle of strange patterns that you swear I've seen before. One on the right side underneath the eye with the tattoo looked like it had broken off and only the lower half stuck out.
A quick Bark/Yelp?, from behind surprised me. A fox comes walking by and walks up to the half-orc. A scroll in its mouth.
“Gree! Good how did he like the soup?” she pauses and what looks like a conversation starts between her and the animal. She excitingly questions it while it yelps and barks replies before giving her the scroll. She looks at and looks up at you. “So come to make a deal with Alex Half Tooth.” she smiles.

Nearvantes has all the slender grace and sharp features of most elves, albeit without the exotic allure. He is five foot four, and deathly pale, with dark circles around his eyes. Oddly enough, his skin has a very slight blue-green tint. His hair is long and greasy, a grey mop that cascades down past his shoulders. He wears a tattered, stained trenchcoat, with countless pockets and sheathes. He has a shaky, albeit canny, expression, and he walks quickly and determinately.
Formal:
Nervantes is pale and sallow-eyed, but smiles sincerely and self-assuredly. He carries a few books of alchemical formulae, and wears a neat, off-white coat. He appears confident, even haughty, and his mouth seems stuck in a twitching smirk. His hair is silvery, and is tied back into a simple ponytail, exposing his long, pointed ears.
Your paladin may have a bone to pick with Nervantes, as he'll definitely be operating on the evil side of the alignment spectrum, but I doubt it will come up- he's very private about these things.

Malthos the Seer, the vengeful, power-hungry, somewhat self-loathing Shaman- "World's Largest Dungeon"
Claudius Derkin, the Beguiler who's at best quite silly and at worst downright insane- "The Burden of Fire"
Will make a human Enchantress.
Would be a big chalenge depending on what she will face. Enchantment is usually good against low will saves grunts. But I'll give a try.
Fluff and sheet soon.
Plus, ThiagoMartell, could you put something about interested players amd their chars, classes, roles and et cetera in the first post? That would help newcomers. This might seem a pretty hard task, considering all the people interested here.
I could lend a help building a table.

Sorta finished history for Seryn, tis at the bottom of the Mythweaver sheet. I might work on writing a proper description next to give an idea of her outfit.

If you do the table I'll add it to the OP, how does that sounds?

The whole point of me bringing up the posibility of playing a pally is so we can work things out before hand, I'm perfectly fine with playing on the evil end of the scale as long as everyone is fine with it, the GM also said he rather "good characters" I can always play a LE bard if I can't play a Pally/anti-pally, but I stress that the GM said he rathers good over evil.
As much as I want to play my character concept(s) I don't want to force a group and the GM to have to tolerate me having fun.

Enchantment is also very powerful if we lean towards politics rather than dungeon crawling.
As a matter of fact Assassins also probably fit better in a political setting due to their contracts having a much deeper impact on the story.

Challenge accepted.
But if you're ok with it, I'll do it tomorrow, since it's very late right now where I live (Brazil).

That's my idea. Use (or abuse) of enchantments and illusions to find her way manipulating others instead of bashing monsters.
I don't like the idea of "Society of Sensation" though. She would be something like "Transcedent Order", but instead of turning herself more monstruous she will despite the flesh in the way it's "mind over flesh" thing. She will despise direct combat, rather relying on dominating the enemies, summoning critters or binding planars.
I want to put her on the guild that fits most the archetype of manipulative secret society. Perhaps even in the Stargazers.
Her focus goes for a Focused Arcane School (Manipulator, as you might have guessed), opposing to evocation (no blasting) and necromancy (animating dead is fun and debuffs are good, but not really her league).
I don't know if everyone in those leagues are in the same party, or if we will assemble multiple parties in this campaign. But anyone willing to join a more commando-like controller party, join Naomi (my char name).

I guessed that this would be a very political game, so that's why my evil character isn't just some guy who likes to kill (although he does trather like it). Also GM can the person Jacob Drex be quite famous, you know a political power who just disappeared a few years ago.
