People tend to make profit from their endeavors over time. The risky nature of adventuring also adds experience and as such levels over time.
Wbl is the chart used to calculate the profit-margin over time relative to increase in level a person of certain skill is expected to gain.

I give wealth based on the situation and what makes sense to me at the time. Besides I also rather give boons or items that have the potential to upgrade themselves when certain stuff happens rather than just finding replacement items all the time (not that you'll always keep the same items)

I will try to get another post (of the ship landing and stuff happening) later tonight.

Just wondering do people care if I post my intent to post like this before I do? the point is to prepare you to what will happen and also give you a chance to say something before stuff happens if you want to.

It doesn't affect me too much. I think for the sake of pacing, you shouldn't worry about it.

If you are still working out your post in mind, but already know where it's going, a heads up helps so we can post appropriately while you work on it.
Our posts might actually help in forming.

But don't bother for our sakes when you already have the full post worked out, just post and save time.

Though I had an idea of where to lead this but I'm stuck not knowing how to work this out, I think it's mostly the pbp thing that I'm not used to... I've been looking to join games as a player to learn from others but its not going as fast as thought it would be.

I can recommend Maptool for making maps. Half an hour (or less) and you'll be able to produce something that looks pretty good. You've also got the option of adding units to the battlefield as you need them, including PCs. This isn't as interactive as a tabletop with smartly painted figures but it's not a bad option. It's certainly less prone to misinterpretation than just describing things.

Anyway, I agree with Escheton. It's better to just start and wing it a little. Remember that all you need to work out is what our characters know and maybe a round or two ahead. We honestly won't be able to tell the difference between this and a battle that you've worked out in detail for weeks. Well, not much anyway.

Should we assume that this game has died?

I'm personally still hopeful that my dead threads of months and months will some day be resurrected. But yeah, I figure this one has croaked.

It's a shame, but few games last more than a month.

Completely sexist, yes! Completely true, pretty much...

Yeah, sorry I don't what to do with this one, if you asked I would've said so earlier, I'll try something like this again once I'm used to this medium, sorry for you loss of time...

Regarding the medium: I have noted that using skype as a pbp medium works quite well. As you can discuss and chat more fluently when multiple happen to be online at the same time yet keep the benefits of pbp when not.

Then there's the problem of scheduling. I'm in England and I'm in a game with a guy from China and some others from the USA. Skyping (?) has its own challenges.

Ghost49X, don't worry about it, I've got an interesting character that I might be able to slot in to another game somewhere or use as an NPC. Nobody's time as been wasted. This is a hobby that we all enjoy and this does seem to be the fate of most PbP games.

If the plan is to all play and post at the same time on skype, yes.
But as a pbp with a ooc and ic thread(maintained chat-windows) it works because of a more fluent ooc communication.
It encounters the same pitfalls as the forum otherwise.
