Hmm. Maybe I'm just projecting then. Would've sworn it comes up a fair bit in Media Discussion and possibly the Roleplaying boards.
x,x Then again, I can't recall what you frequent aside from here, so... I guess that's what assuming gets me. x.x

Maybe.
I once went somewhere that people were already talking about cats. I said "I like kitties," and everyone misheard* the "k" as a different letter. People here seem almost (though not quite) as perverted as that.
*Note that they weren't normally hard of hearing.

You can simply not read those three threads.
A rule of thumb though: Based on my own internet experience, anything that's intended to be "creepy" will become "gross" given enough time. I haven't seen it, but just from the context I doubt it's anything that a pg rating would block.
For things like LGBT, it's a matter of "TETO". To Each Their Own. Most people will like things that you don't. There will always be threads that you don't like. Personally, if I ran a G-rated forum, I'd still allow such a thread, as I don't think it's something people need to be sheltered from. It's simply a fact of life.
I don't know what topics here you're having trouble with, but, when I'm active, I pop in here occasionally to look at what topic(s) are going on, and usually it doesn't interest me or I simply have nothing to say, so I skip it... But sometimes I do, so I don't.
Basically, I'm suggested that you do your own filtering. Look at topics you want to be involved in. Ignore the ones you don't.
This forum already has an extreme level of filtering as compared to, really, anywhere else. That suits this group just fine... But there are limits to how far things can be filtered. If we filtered out every thread that someone had a problem with, there would be nothing left.

So, I should only read threads that I'm comfortable with? How will I know which ones I'm comfortable with if I haven't already read them?
Isn't that a catch-22?
Not really. The three you mentioned are pretty obvious what they are from the titles alone.
Personally, a thread about food & cooking is the squickiest topic on the planet. There's a thread titled "Cooking in the playground". Guess how many times I've clicked it?
Also, you can hover a thread for a preview of the first post, which usually gives you a good concept of what to expect if the title didn't.

Because if it's about relationships in general, then it and the thread you mentioned are both fine, but seem to violate the "one topic, one thread" rule.

It's about relationship stuff and sexuality, without being about sex.

It's about dealing with the additional issues that come along with being gay, and getting support as well, but yes. Did you think it was some sort of yaoi/yuri fan thread?

So... you made a judgement without even checking to see if you were right, then proceeded to talk about how you disapproved of the forum as a whole for that reason?

^ This. It's not anything creepy or stupid. It's about people who're asking advice from the regulars (who are awesome by the way) and who might be wanting help to come out, help for partners, or even just discussing random stuff like in Random Banter.
We aren't creepy or weird.

They (we) have a space where they (we) can talk to other people in similar situations, and draw strength from each other. It's a place to share inspiring stories about other LGBT* folks out in the wild, and to bitch about bigotry and intolerance. Yes, the topic of sex comes up occasionally, because funnily enough, that's part of the baggage of being LGBT*. It's not that common, and it's very circumspect when it does happen, because of the board rules.
It's a safe haven of tolerance and like-minded people, and has very literally saved lives. Please, tell me, why should it not exist here?

Those were just the examples I could think of. There are plenty of actually warning-less ones I have stumbled up-

I think weird is a compliment, personally, and that everyone's weird in some way or another. It's one of the things that makes humans awesome.

I completely agree. I wasn't trying to insult anyone. I seem to have done so accidentally, though.
