I really like the combination of a Morbid effect with Undying. Blanket destruction of permanents is more of a black/white thing, but the Morbid trigger is a decent enough hoop jump through to justify it. The remove counters effect feels fairly natural as well, and life loss always feels demon like to me. Good job!

Now that's a mana cost and a half! The effects are certainly powerful enough, and I do like mirrored effects, but he seems maybe one or two coloured mana too high for my taste; especially since you're a less likely to have a hand full of cards by the time you have enough mana to cast him. He does seem like a decent general for EDH though.

As I said, I really like mirrored effects, and I'm also a fan of Painful Quandry which the first part reminds me of. A nice, solid late game card that your opponent has to deal with straight away.

I was not expecting a three mana demon at all! It does a really good job of reflecting Black/Red's screw waiting, I want it now feel and is a great agressive threat.

I like being able to force creatures to attack, and having it on a fairly strong flyer seems like a good deal to me. One small problem for me is that while it seems like it would be good in multiplayer, unless it's a format like star or 'attack left' (I can never remember if that has a name or not), there's little chance to use both effects together.

A few small templating issues, it's 'Legendary Creature - Demon Wall', and it should be 'Gehennan Wall May block creatures with Shadow as though it had shadow.
Reach, Infect, Undying'
A nice solid defence that is very hard to penetrate and is fairly resiliant as well, although it doesn't quite feel demonic to me.

Phyrexian mana does really help the paying life for power deal that a lot of demons have, and I do like the idea of black green giving out -1/-1, drawing power from your life when there's no green mana left as well.

The second and third effects a fairly strong. Redirecting spells for no mana certainly can't be weak and I do have a soft spot for choosing attackers and blockers. However, I feel that he should either come standard with flying or not have the first ability at all. Blue is the primarily flying colour and the third ability should be enough to stop most blockers.

It was a really close decision this time round as there were a lot of entries that really hit the mark for me. After some deliberation though, I've decided that Varroc, the Deceiver by Duos is this weeks winner. Congratulations!
Well, hey, thanks a ton. I feel honored. A great big round of applause to everybody else who participated-I saw tons of really sweet entries.
Now, to business! With the recent release of Return to Ravnica, multicolored cards are going to be a huge thing. But it's all two colors! This is boring! So, this week's challenge is:
Create a wedge colored card that includes X in its mana cost.
For those of you who don't know, the wedges are the three color combinations that include two enemy color pairs (BUG, WBR, WBG, URG, and UWR). It can be ANY supertype of card, so don't feel limited to instants and sorceries.

At the beginning of your upkeep, put a +1/+1 counter on each Hydra you control.
Remove X +1/+1 counters from Multiplying Hydra: Put a token onto the battlefield that is a copy of Multiplying Hydra with X minus one +1/+1 counters on it. X must be greater than 0. Some hydras have extra heads that aren't attached.

As a heads up, this isn't a wedge card (I posted the five wedge colors in the challenge post.)

Put X +1/+1 counters on target creature
Deal X damage to target creature, you gain X life Three parts of one whole

Primordial Mire comes into play with X Evolution counters on it.
UBG, Remove an Evolution counter from Primordial Mire: Exile target creature card from a graveyard. Target creature becomes a copy of that card. (This effect lasts indefinitely.)
Discard a card: Exile target creature card from a graveyard. Its owner may search their library for a creature card and put it into their graveyard. If they do not, put 2 +1/+1 counters on target creature.
When there are no Evolution counters on Primordial Mire, sacrifice it.

An all devouring ooze fits right up BUG's alley. It eats your hand, too, I get that, but pitching your whole hand for an easily removed dude is not very enticing. X would have to be large enough to eat your opponent's hand too.
Tgva
Spoiler
Sweet lord, this is the hydra to end all hydras. Its ability to immediately grow out of hand in an exponential manner is nuts. It doesn't have any traditional forms of evasion, but "grow an army of huge dudes" works well enough that it doesn't need it. It does suffer from most of the same problems that all creatures without evasion have, though, and in order to really jump-start your board presence you'd need to cast the thing for 8 mana or more.
Mythestopheles
Spoiler
Quite an interesting utility card. Probably playable in an environment where affinity is running rampant. The variability of the card is nice; you could engineer a board state where the only things bounced are your opponent's permanents.
Frankelshtein
Spoiler
I think this is a control deck's dream finisher. Wipe out all of your opponent's permanents, including lands, and leave your other, massive beater? Sold. Even without pumping extra mana into it, it's a 4 mana, 4 power flier with haste that wrecks token decks. I'll admit I'm a bit worried about the power level, but still, a solid card.
Necroticplague
Spoiler
Alas, this is not a wedge card, so it doesn't fulfill the challenge requirements.
Istari
Spoiler
This is definitely a strong card; any draw X spell is usually pretty good, and it also double as removal and a way to make any of your dudes a genuine threat. And each of the things the card does are in color. But it feels like you just took a green card, a blue card, and a black card and mashed them all together. There's no real feel for the flavor of the wedge itself.
DMofDarkness
Spoiler
I love the feel of this card. A pool of sludge, slowly evolving things into other things. Sometimes there's large leaps forward on the evolutionary path, and eventually, the sludge dries up. I'm a bit worried about the overall complexity of the card, though. It's a lot of lines of text, and the process of actually dumping things into your graveyard to mutate into isn't super straightforward.
Ninjaman
Spoiler
Similar to Istari's entry, the card itself is very strong and flexible. But it suffers from the same 'three cards glued together' problem.
radmelon
Spoiler
I really do like this card. Rock colors thrive on both tokens and death, so it works very well from a flavor perspective. I feel like it's missing... something, though. Another thing to do with the tokens made, or a way to change the number of counters on the card itself after casting it. Regardless, it's a fairly powerful, very flavorful card.
And our runner up!
Spoiler
radmelon, with his entry, Gravewurm's Rise! I love the flavor of the card a LOT, but the double X cost hurts it a bit, especially since there's really no way to get more of them. Even something simple, like "Whenever a nontoken creature you control dies, you may pay GWB. If you do, put a coil counter on [CARDNAME]" would have worked wonders. Regardless, it was actually a very close decision, and I look forward to seeing more of your cards later.
And the winner IIIIIIIIIS:
Spoiler
Tgva, with his entry of Multiplying Hydra! It's in color for the wedge (Big thing with unusual effects), it's very flavorful, and it doesn't break the power bank too hard. I could definitely see myself building a deck around this card for standard, and it'd drop straight into an EDH deck. I had fun doing mental math with this card, too; trying to maximize the number of huge dudes I could squeeze out of it was great fun.
Congrats to the winner, and a big thank you to everybody who submitted an entry! Many of these were very clever and flavorful, and I look forward to seeing what everybody has planned in the future.
Yeah, I felt there was something missing from my entry too, I wasn't very happy with it. I had considered making it cost only XWGB, and having it lose a counter each time it made a token.
Fatigue makes me wax philosophic and/or babble. If I've posted something strange and tangential, that is probably the cause. This entry would be an example.
For folks that just can't get enough YMtC, might I also suggest The Official Forum for even more card-making action to go with this thread?
Looking forward to participating in the next contest here, though.

For this next round, since we aren't tired of it yet, make a card using a Guild mechanic from Return to Ravnica. For those who are unsure, the mechanics are Detain, Overload, Unleash, Scavenge, and Populate. You do not have to make cards that match the guild (so you don't only have to make Azorius-colored Detain cards), but please do not significantly change the mechanic from its printed form.

Are we allowed to critique the wording of each other's cards, or is that strictly up to the judge?
