Re: Soragakure OOC III - Why Do We Have 3 Of These?
Amon didn't really lie. She said a line about him being their prisoner, but I intentiionally had her say it in such a fashion she sounded delirious after just waking up, hence deniability. Everything else was just a flexible truth; Amon didn't know what they did and didn't know because of Houshi and Yousuke talking to them first. And now you're going to respond and make me look like an idiot, but those were my intentions.
**** these guys. Let's go home. This is the worst mission ever. We lost a jounin, were made fools and Amon is such a stumblingly bad negotiator she made things worse with her every attempt as usual. Let's do this Chicago way if they fight us; we'll kill one, leave one wounded and unconscious and drag one back to Soragakure. Of course I'm joking. Amon is terrible at fighting even with her puppet.
Re: Soragakure OOC III - Why Do We Have 3 Of These?
ALSO, VERY IMPORTANTLY, the first section of Amon's dialogue was SUPPOSED to come before post #928. Which is why the second paragraph onwards addresses Houshi; I was hoping to make up for lost time. Sorry if that wasn't clear, but that wasn't Amon's 'next breath' wasn't launching into all that. She said her bit, stupidly let Houshi speak, then the rest of her post is after they start being aggressive
Next time let us not say things that assume we told people things. I'd say this whole conflict is due to OOC and IC misunderstandings. I wish these guys would die horribly and be forgotten, I'm serious. Nothing would amuse me more than teh garou swooping in as soon as they're done with us and dragging off teh fatigued dojutsu users so they can have their souls ripped out as punishment for being so ****ing stupid.

I dunno, I think I like them. One of them healed me and Sanagi is pretty rad. They've been pretty polite to us overall and we did sort of hide a lot from them.

"Amon didn't really lie, but she lied."

The Houshi and Jun exchange lasts at most a few seconds.
It goes: Amon lies about the prisoner. Jun questions this. Yousuke tries to cover for her. Amon attempts to lie further. Houshi tells the truth. Jun becomes aggressive. Amon tries to tell the truth. Jun refuses to believe Amon or Yousuke anymore.
Amon's lied within seconds of attempting to tell the truth, and expected to be believed?

Re: Soragakure OOC III - Why Do We Have 3 Of These?
OMIGOD, we're live again. 3 days without gaming, totally sucked. I had to try and be productive or something. We should exchange emails or something in case there's something like this in the future. Anyway, I'm not so hung up on those details anymore: 3 days has been just about enough for me to think up a way out of this retarded situation. Sorry I complained so much, I'm just no more enthused about fighting people we're supposed to befriend than you are - but it should be obvious I'm not gonna get out of this one by brute force of whining.
Is Cybele's crystal now in Amon's possession? Amon gave the crystal to Kaede earlier and it seemed important that it be returned to Cybele at some point: If he slipped it into Amon's bag or something, it would be a sign we should go home without him. Otherwise, he somehow didn't have enough time to give her it, someone else charged her wild card, or he intends to free himself - if he was ever truly captured
Does Amon sense any particular type of chakra signature from the wild card or is that not how it works? Do I have any clue as to how much chakra it would take to activate? Sorry I'm so picky on the details of it, but it is never before used homebrew so you'll have to forgive me for being exacting.
It's not technically a lie to say "He wasn't in our direct captivity." He wasn't our prisoner, but he was someone else's so it doesn't even constitute an empty statement. I've abandoned the silly concept of half-lying though - it wouldn't get me anywhere in teh real world I don't know why I expected any different. Maybe roleplaying a kind of impulsive character is getting to me. I considered putting Amon on meds or something - so she'd turn up to one mission in a coat and tie, looking respectable and acting supremely logical (as she is capable of but almost chooses not to on account of thirsting for excitement and attention)
Is there anything special about our mission scrolls? Like, does it have our names on them or some sort of chakra signature that marks it as a genuine mission? And are we allowed to show our mission scroll to show we have a reason for being here or is that a confidential matter?
Re: Soragakure OOC III - Why Do We Have 3 Of These?
Isn't Sonia in jail or something? If nothing else it should be someone else that chews us out until the dust from this whole Taro thing sets (or we do something about it).
Punishing someone regardless of their guilt is a good way to get the idea into them of 'well if I'm assumed guilty anyway, I might as well do it'

It'll have been an entire day, so who knows?

Never said Sonia was a competent leader.

Re: Soragakure OOC III - Why Do We Have 3 Of These?
Once I've started using the technique in the wild card, is it possible to identify it and stop halfway through - expending the charge but not performing the technique? It would suck if this turned out to be, like, Suicide technique or something. How embarrassing.
Re: Soragakure OOC III - Why Do We Have 3 Of These?
No, that's what i meant; if the technique is really unfavourable I wouldn't be forced to continue it. I would gladly expend the charge if I thought it really wasn't worth it - it would break the mechanic otherwise
Re: Soragakure OOC III - Why Do We Have 3 Of These?
Amon has attempted to clear up her image by the power of paperwork on the level of middle management, hooray! Maybe when we get to town we can even ring someone up - tell Taro to send another jounin or something, maybe even find out what's up with Cybele. That or we'll get back to town and find it's gone completely to hell while we were gone. I should totally leave a note where I passed out - or perhaps continue using my calligraphy reverse-tracking method - so Kaede can come find us. Assuming he doesn't just have Track.
Re: Soragakure OOC III - Why Do We Have 3 Of These?
We could be a while in that case - I knew my checking of the forums dropped as low as once every two hours during this outage. I wouldn't be shocked if it took some of the players in the games I'm in a day or more to realise they can access the site again.
Edit: Well, shut my god-damn mouth, he posted in the time I wrote this. I guess Zeone is on the ball~
Hmm... Well i thought I'd have it be something a little more personal to the both of them, like possibly as an explanation of why Amon trusts Alice so much and why Alice puts up with Amon. After all, there has to be less excitable and nosy genin she could pass on her knowledge to - although i guess in Amon's case she's just naturally very trusting (until the campaign started) without some backstory justification. But in any case, I don't know the whole of Alice's character so it might be a bit dry if I'm writing it worried about going out of character for someone I didn't write. The 'finds Amon during her hiatus from ninja-ing, takes pure pity on her upon seeing that she, like them, has mechanical limbs and decides to pass on their trade' was an all right explanation at first but I feel I need something a bit meatier now that we're dealing with an actual character who - maybe it's just my perspective - is the most interesting character in the game so far. Well I guess Kaede's pretty fun when you get him in a half-decent mood. Anyway, if I did write it myself I would at least send it in to you in the hopes of some revisions on your part. Hell, maybe we could do a little prequel RP, if we're a little pretentious, over email or something - that way Alice and Amon's encounter will feel potentially more organic, given that you have the time and inclination. I already sent you my email address, so yeah
Re: Soragakure OOC III - Why Do We Have 3 Of These?
And Amon gave Houshi a good talking to, but not as good a one as she will when the mission is over. It will consist largely of slapping him until he ragdolls (in that odd anime way of 'domestic abuse is funny and indeed okay if its female on male') and trying to teach him 'you're the worst assassin ever - when I tell a lie, at least shut up enough to play along, GEEZ'.
Re: Soragakure OOC III - Why Do We Have 3 Of These?
What the hell is Houshi using to carry his 'sword' anyway? A holster? A belt? Either way, Amon is prepared to unbuckle or even dismantle it with a swipe of her hand if it means diffusing this situation.
Is there an elemental master around for Raiton who could teach Amon a thing or two? Looking through the book I found Raiton suddenly gets completely AWESOME around this level. Lightningball, Speed of Lightning, Electromagnetic Deflection or whatever it was called, all so cool in their own ways. Maybe I can get up t God Enel levels over th course of some sort of training levels (joke). Although seriously a technique that would allow me to discorporate into electricity for a time would be rather useful. What level do you think that would be...
Re: Soragakure OOC III - Why Do We Have 3 Of These?
Omigod a quadruple post, last one before someone else posts, I swear.
ZN, do you have Playwright's Primer? From cover to cover, it's just pure Puppeteer material, with an an entire prestige class specialising in Human Puppetry. It looked too awesome to not use some of at some point - cool abilities including keeping some of the techniques a human puppet had in life, making it something more than a puppet with bonus HP. Also more puppetry based techniques.
You mentioned when I asked if I could tree-walk my puppets that I could later pick up the ability to make them fly. Did you mean the Puppeteer skill or some homebrew modification or technique?
I could go for apprenticing myself to a legendary blacksmith. I found a cool feat in one of the supplements that lets me better weild a sword if I'm the one who made it, plus there's something about being a master blacksmith that commands respect - even of Yousuke - that Amon couldn't turn down
Re: Soragakure OOC III - Why Do We Have 3 Of These?
Being good at making swords does not command Yousuke's respect. Skills alone are not going influence his respect, what with Amon's personality and general attitude.
Re: Soragakure OOC III - Why Do We Have 3 Of These?
And by respect I mean 'ability to force him to pretend to be nice to her in exchange for her services'. Besides, she's being mostly nice to Yousuke lately - it's not her fault she shares a gender with his mum. Actually, you'll get a laugh out of this, I was thinking of a way to make Amon a fearsome swordsman that would earn Yousuke's mutual respect. Weird and silly, right?
Yousuke is carrying THREE swords, right? Is he handing all three swords over or are they somehow not in plain sight and he's trying to pull a fast one. You guys of course realise what this means - Amon is now the most heavily armed person left on the team - it'll all come down to her if we're attacked. Gods help us
Edit: Oh dammit, I'd have to get lessons from HER? That'll end well. Electrons repel so...
Anyway, if you have Playwrights Primer, can I use the stuff in it? It looks dead nifty
