I see that Grue Bait is in danger of auto-lynch according to the rules laid down by Gnomish Wanderer. I will give more time for him to post in thread and avoid the auto-lynch mechanic. I don't think he is actually away from the Forum. Does anyone know for certain?
@^ninja'd and happy about that
I realize updates here have been slow and I'm sorry about that. I've been hoping we would see Gnomish again soon. I'm going to start adhering closely to the scheduled Day/Night cycle.
I'll end Day 10 within the next 24 hours.
I'll end Day 10 shortly
Day 10 End! Zar Peter got up that morning, walked out his door, and glared at Dragoon. Then he walked over to the Inn and glared at Julian84.
Matthias2207 leaned over towards Atreyu and murmured, "What's his problem?"
"I don't know," he replied, "but it reminds of the day we lynched Lemons."
Dragoon entered the Inn and Zar Peter glared at Dragoon.
Gray Mage stepped forward, "Is there a problem Zar?"
Zar Peter sighed and glared at Julian84, "No."
Dragoon said, "We'll work things out, Zar."
Lorne glanced up from his newspaper with a thoughtful look.
Julian84 looked nervous, "I guess."
Zar snapped, "One of you did it and when I find out who… I'm going to… I'm going to…"
"Going to what, Peter?" Grue Bait asked.
Zar glared at Dragoon, "I'm going to kill him."
The villagers all looked at each other and exchanged meaningful glances, "You seem awfully... angry Zar…"
"Yeah, you seem kind of… "
"- wolfish"
"What? NO, I look I - I'm just upset."
"You seem more than a little 'upset'"
"Yeah, he looks kind of dangerous."
"- like he might try to kill someone."
"- in the night."
"- like a wolf."
Before Zar Peter knew it, the village had converged on him. A length of rope was produced from nowhere and they were stringing him up. It wasn't until later that the village learned Zar Peter was only upset because someone had accidentally smashed his model of the solar system.

Night 10 End! Quiet lay over the Village of Vilcas as the moon rose again to cast its pale shine upon the snow. No one moved in Vilcas. No one stirred. That is not to say that the villagers slept peacefully. Recent events had made that possible. But even if a villager here or there was too restless to sleep, that same villager did not dare to make a sound lest the wolves of dire legend descend upon him and tear his flesh from the bone.
The silence lasted deep into the night until, some point in later half of moonlit dark a howl finally pierced the cool stillness. Villagers unsettled by that noise did weep, but their tears were silent lest the wolf should hear. Villagers wanted to run screaming through the snow to escape that frightful howl, but they dare not move from the false comfort of their homes.
Such a desperate clinging to hope filled the nostrils of the pack. They as they chased their latest chosen prey…
Their prey was not in the village tonight, but on the outskirts of the mountain pass where yet another villager did cling to vain hope: two nights without fresh snow.
Two whole nights.
Would an opening form in the pass?
But it was not meant to be. And hide as they might, the villagers who continued to cling to hope continued to die.
Tonight the prey was stealthy and had evaded the hunt. But the hour was in favor of the wolf. Dressed in soot black to blend with the night and trained to cover his tracks, the prey had crept with care to the mountain pass.
The wolf in his warm coat had waited with ears alert for the opportunity: the villager who dared to wander too far from the flock, waited with nose to the air to scent the smell of one who did not belong. And patience was rewarded with the gloriously inciting scent of hope disappointed.
Howling.
Oh the scent of fear in the prey.
Howling.
O the scent of despair as prey realized that there was no way out.
Rush of wind, bite and claw, the wolf attacked at last.
And when death came to the prey, the wolf brought parts of it to the village so the remaining prey would see by morning light the reason for their despair.
Dismay at the inevitable crushing fury of the werewolves.
Howling.

Day 11 Start!
Ends in about 48 hours
Mod Note: Sorry for the delay, the forums going down really threw my schedule for checking this forum out of whack.
As usual, the townsfolk had gathered in the Inn, clutching their drinks and sitting quietly. Lorne was in the corner reading his newspaper. He had foregone his usual pineapple juice that morning for something stronger.
A tall frosty glass of sarsaparilla.
After reading about the local births, deaths and marriages, mostly deaths, he decided it was time for action. He got to his feet and spoke to the assembled villagers.
Alright people! This has gone on long enough. One of us is a wolf. The howls last night were clearly indicative that only one voice was in them.
Eight of us still live. We know that Gray Mage is not a wolf, so that leaves seven suspects including myself. We need Miss Marple to solve this for us, but as the pass is blocked by snow, we'll have to do it ourselves.
Does anyone have anything they'd like to point out? Any observations of relevance? How about you, Grue Bait? You know all about creatures that lurk in the darkness.
Okay, completely based on gut:
Sort of trusted:
Inky (New)
C'nor (Quiet as always)
Sort of suspicious without any arguments:
Atreyu (Experienced, unknown, dangerous)
Dragoon (Still on my death list, for whatever reason)
A little more suspicious than the average person, but less than the above:
Grue Bait, because Gray Mage says so.
I don't know about Gray Mage. I think he's trusted? With all the seer stuff and no counter-claims? Or a treacherous wolf. Not very likely.
I'm just going to fish for grues. I'll need some bait though. We didn't hear that one yet...

Day 11 End! Day dawned on Vilcas warm and bright. There was a melt off as snow began to clear.
The village sat in the Inn.
"There is only one left," said Lorne.
"How do you know?"
"Last night… there was only one voice."
"You may be right," said Gray Mage as he rubbed his chin thoughtfully, "but the seer hasn't found him yet."
Matthias peered carefully at the remaining villagers.
"Perhaps, it is inky."
"No, no, it's not me," squeaked inky hastily, "but I haven't seen C'nor around lately…"
"Hmm," Matthias pondered, "well you are too young to be a wolf anyways inky and C'nor is too quiet to be one, but…"
Matthias rounded on Atreyu, "You weren't in your room last night. Where were you?"
"I couldn't sleep so I came down to the common room," replied Atreyu, "Dragoon was there too… he was just coming in from the dark."
"Aha! and what were you doing last night, Dragoon?" Matthias inquired (it was well-known that Matthias had been trying to get Dragoon lynched).
"Well, let's see here... I saw Grue Bait leaving the Inn last night. I was going to follow him, but then I changed my mind. After all it is dangerous out there alone."
"Grue Bait knows all about creatures that lurk in the dark."
"And how does he know so much about that?" asked Matthias.
"Indeed"
"For one so knowledgeable about creatures of the dark, he has found very little to say."
"Remarkably little"
"Perhaps, he is holding something back from the rest of us"
Grue Bait rubbed his eyes sleepily and looked up. Then, he yawned. He stopped as he realized that people were looking at him.
He smiled, "Yes, it is true that I know about the creatures of the dark. They have powers that peons like you could never understand." Then, he transformed into a raging wolf and tore at his prospective captors.
He lashed out at Gray Mage who was closest. But Gray Mage's long cloak saved his life as he undid the clasp and left it in Grue Bait's paws.
He bit at Lorne, but got a mouth full of newspaper instead of neck.
Whirling furiously, he leaped at Matthias. But Matthias fended him off with a long staff.
Snarling, he snapped at inky, but inky was just quick enough and small enough to duck out of reach behind a pillar.
He turned towards Atreyu but a bottle of sarsaparilla smashed over the wolf's head, dazing him.
"Hey! Those aren't easy to come by!"
"Now's our chance!"
And so it was that the village managed to subdue and lynch Grue Bait last of the furious wolves plaguing Vilcas.
Peace settled and there was celebration, mourning, and relief. The pass cleared in the spring and trade began again as the survivors told their tale to the rest of the world.
Unanswered questions remained.
Who was Gnomish Wanderer really and why did the wolves want her dead?
What terrible secrets did Grue Bait carry to his grave?
But the answers were too painful for most to delve too deeply, or gave rise to too many other questions to be answered.
Admittedly, I am biased toward saying I enjoyed it because I won.
However, I will say I enjoyed the narrations, especially the reference to my earlier roleplaying that inspired me to roleplay for the last day.
And I can't believe we chose the correct wolf out of the three it had to be!
And now that the pass is open, we must send for Hercule Poirot at once to solve the unanswered questions.
I had fun and most of the narrations were interesting. There's not really much else to add given it's classic. I do wish I'd followed through more with my hunch about inky night 2 but hindsight is always 20/20.

Sorry. I really thought you were a wolf.
I had fun. I was almost lynched twice and I had fun arguing myself both days. I hope everyone else enjoyed it as much as me.
