Quick question- with National Novel Writing Month coming up, would it be possible to use the word count widget in my signature as proof of words written? Just asking because the more separate places I'm trying to upload stuff, the more uploading will cut into time when I could be writing...

If I can see your writings on the site the widget links to, sure

Y'know what, scratch that. I've been reading around on the NaNoWriMo site, and just using the counter is fine. Sorry about that

Ooo, awesome. I'll use the challenge to help bug me to do NaNo if I get round to doing it. Still not sure if I'll have time, but I might try it.

The UKitP meetup is no excuse for not writing- as somebody who is hoping to get to it... If I make it, I may well still be writing on the friday night (or parts of it)

Can I enter something retroactively? I just found this challenge today, but I wrote parts II and III of this Dungeons and Dragons work in the past few days. The wordcount for those is 2286, and it even includes the fire theme!

(I hope I'm reading the rules on "works-in-progress" right, 'cause the WLD is my only current project that's able to be published right now).

Sweet! Welcome aboard Are you gonna use a counter as proof, like Mercenary does?

Sure. Works done in the week of your entry counts towards that week (but you can't go further back).

"works in progress" is in place to prevent sketches and barely-strung-together written works. But 250 words out of a larger piece definitely counts. We can't have people write six novels every week

Welcome aboard to you, too!

Finished about a case file and a half. This one was much shorter, too. Case File 8 was only 1400 words, so it's good I started on 9.

Spoiler

As far as "fiery intensity" I'm not sure if I meet the theme. Both Alexander Sky and Jacob Havoc are fairly intense, but not necessarily in a fiery passion kind of way?

1,891 words of various things. Which, this time, aren't nicely separated into different quote tags, just split with dashes inside one, since I'm simply not up to doing that right now, what with the forum search being down and everything.

Status time!

Glass Mouse passes with a mermaid drawing, a minicomic, 695 words of novel, and eight character drawings.

C'nor passes with 1,891 words of various RPG writings.

HeadlessMermaid passes with four architecture photos and 700+ words of essay.

The Grimmace passes with four micropoems, two prose poems and 22 regular poems.

CheesePirate passes with six face drawings in different artistic styles, including a fire-headed Loki.

Neoriceisgood passes with eight comic pages and a ton of character colouring/shading.

Icewalker passes with 1,889 words of case files.

Mercenary Pen didn't upload/send me anything.

flyingchicken uploaded four doodle pages, a firebreathing Spike and an ice cream mishap.

nersxe passes with 2,286 words of D&D story, including a firebased intimidation.

Thus, Mercenary Pen and flyingchicken FAIL this round!

Glass Mouse, C'nor, HeadlessMermaid The Grimmace, CheesePirate, Neoriceisgood, Icewalker and nersxe PASS this round!

It's nersxe's turn to choose a theme

Castaras, I'll put you on the list when I have a confirmation and an idea how to find/check your writings

Icewalker, I'd say "fairly intense" doesn't count in a fire theme. But I think flyingchicken has final say over that.

flyingchicken, doodles don't count towards the Challenge. I'm a bit torn in regards to a full doodle page, but so far it's only been okay'ed for someone who was trying to learn.

The Second: Oh my gosh, I'm sorry, I completely missed your post until now. Welcome! Just provide a link to your writings (or post them here), and you're all set.

This sounds fun. I am trying to pick up drawing again and some doodles I made last weekend made me thing that I have reached the point where I go from talented to being actually skilled. If I can just keep it up for a while and practice. Which is kind of what this thread is about, yes?
So every monday, one person selects a theme and then everyone has to produce six things until sunday evening? And as long as you can keep up with that pace, you increase your counter for bragging points. I'd like to jump on to this.

Indeed there is; the one that lists everyone who passed together, between the standings and those who failed the challenge this week.

I'm now rushing to get the required amount of words done on my DND WIP, due to shenanigans earlier in the week. I'll edit this post with the link once I'm done with that.

In the meantime, have a poem resembling the Fibonnaci sequence ascending then descending:

Spoiler

Done in that form because I am a nerd and also why not.

Edited to add:

World's Largest Dungeon: Lots And Lots of Blood Part IV. The word count on that is 1110. I'll have to get another poem or something up so I can qualify.

Second edit:

I wrote a haiku. It's not my best work, but hey, I got another week under my belt!

Hah, I love it! Blending art and science is the best

Also, just to let you all know, tomorrow's status update will be late. I'm starting a new job, and I'd really, really like to not take out an hour of the first day to do forum stuff.
Just treat deadlines and stuff as usual, and I'll do the update when I get home

So, job got cancelled, but my internet went down, so I went to school instead. Now back with status!

Glass Mouse passes with a mermaid drawing and ~1,600 words of novel.

C'nor didn't upload/send me anything.

HeadlessMermaid passes with eleven photographs of things from city sights to machinery.

The Grimmace passes with a short story of 3,327 words.

CheesePirate didn't upload/send me anything.

Neoriceisgood didn't upload/send me anything. Edit: passes with 22 comic pages.

Icewalker passes with continued case files, at around 1,500 words.

Mercenary Pen didn't upload/send me anything.

flyingchicken is out.

nersxe passes with a haiku, a Fibonnaci poem and 1,110 words of RPG story.

Yora uploaded five old drawings.

Default Re: The CHALLENGE continues!

It appears that the opening post is slightly inaccurate : although the [per 8 weeks] prizecrafting is still unavailable due to material issues*, the figurine for reaching the 18 week mark** (one time occurrence, not per 18 weeks) is still available.
It can be pretty much anything, within board rules and reasonable size constraints. See thread for a general idea of what i can do.
So:
Quote:
The Grimmace
Current run: 18 weeks
Longest run: -
Themes: -
congratulations for being the 2nd participant to reach the prize . Figure out what you would like and PM me so we can get started.

*might be resolved at some point in the future, the hobbyshop that i thought closed had simply relocated into the most baffling location possible.
**originally 24 weeks, lowered to 18 weeks as per here
