So I had my first therapy appointment with my new therapist this week. He was easily one of the nicest, most understanding people I've ever met. I mean I know my fears were groundless, really, but it's nice to e proven wrong. That and seeing someone who's transitioned in the flesh made me feel like it's a possible thing and less a bizarre product of my fevered imagination. That and when I mentioned that I don't come across as very feminine, he told me that I didn't come across as masculine either because my shoulders aren't broad and my face and hair are soft-looking. I am, if nothing else, extremely susceptible to flattery. Although it did lead to the following humorous exchange:

Him: [stuff mentioned above]
Me: (internal SQUEE) Hearing that makes me so happy, you have no idea!
Me: *realizes who she's talking to.* Oh, wait, I guess you do
Him: Yep

EDIT; I love your new avatar, Pheenie, it's really majestic

I've been thinking of changing mine, she looks a little to crabby for me at the moment, but I have no better replacement

~Laura

Not to crack wise at the well reasoned argument of Duck superiority over Man, but I love how the argument was so perfectly devised by a fourteen year old.

And here I thought the youth of the world were forgetting how to make clever and witty arguments.

(Anyone else think maybe we should call Emilio Estevez and ask him to be our envoy?)

And I am so glad your therapy session went well. If only everyone could see us all that way.

Amazingly uplifting to hear that your therapist is that great, meeting someone who have gone through what is before you is a wonderful thing.

That exchange is just cuddley-dorable, by the way. :3

PS: I agree, a lovably majestic avatar, Phoenix.

Well, I'm convinced.
I'm disappointed. I was expecting a slippery slope argument involving the expression "get all your ducks in a row" and polygamy, or an argument that we're all depraved because we've taken to homosexuality like ducks to water, or something. So much wasted potential.

Is it wrong of to only be able to think about why anyone would watch two ducks mating for over an hour?

And he took pictures?

Not so, some sorts of penguins sometimes engage in necrophilia.

Otherwise, well, we're still walking over the Earth's surface, like our ancestors did. Whales' ancestors left water only for a brief time, before going back to the sea. That means we're behind whales evolutionarily. We should rush to the ocean, become sea-faring creatures, and show those damn whales who's boss.
Who needs the ocean? The amphibians know where it's at! They sit wherever the heck they want, obeying no law but hunger, and breathe through their skins! We should go amphibi-ize. X3

Actually, I've heard that rape doesn't usually impregnate ducks because of the way the females' genitals evolved. Rape itself does happen fairly often, though... :/

Animals do a lot of things we would not accept humans doing... If a species is overpopulated by a large enough margin, even herbivores will turn cannibal. And let's not even get started on all the animals not wearing any clothes in public...

LGBTA people. You guys even helped me identify myself comfortably as an asexual, and thanks to you guys I no longer feel I'm a straight person with something seriously wrong. Someone that can't accept the extended family I adopted (you guys and some other friends), I can't consider friends.
That's so sad . I'm sorry that he feels that way. And I'm glad you consider us your adopted family. I feel the same way about all of you!

Hopefully your grandparent is much less bigoted than we fear. But if not, then remember that it is that person's choice to sacrifice family and see them suffer over petty dislikes of who they are, not yours. You are who they are, and their bigotry has no say in that.
Let's hope!

I seem to recall community stances of Katy Perry being conflicted
But I just saw a youtube comment on her video, pointing out '0:06 WHAT THE! did anybody notice the boy in a flower girl's dress?'

Thank you, luqman127. Thank you.

Congratulations, luqman127Caption Obvious.
I'm not a fan of her music, myself. It's also hard to guess why there's a guy in a dress; it could just be "being edgy" or whatever.

I've grown to ignore a lot of celebrities before, due to how incredibly cruel and stupid they tend to be. But when I see one retort to one of their fans being sexist, homophobic, transphobic, decline their political views, etc., it really does give me respect to said individual.

Oh yeah, I'm talking about Miley Cyrus here. The Kardashians are still horrible people.

No, the flower girl is a little girl that you can see on the far left of the video at the very, very beginning. And another flower girl on the far right who I initially mistook for a ring bearer.

The individual next to Katy Perry is a bridesmaid or the maid of honor who is a man in drag, if I recall the use of the term correctly. Or possibly Genderqueer of some variety, though I don't know that one would be able to make the visual distinction, at least in the limited window provided here.

...I think by position the Maid of Honor and Best Man are supposed to be the ones closest to the bride and groom, so I'd go with Made of Honor reference.

I know it's kinda stupid, but hey.

I'm a teacher in a part of the country that is rather...regressive on LGBTA issues. And last week I laid into some kids who were using slurs. I've done it before in more tolerant parts of the country, but was really nervous about having to do it here. But I did. And it was good. And hopefully it has an effect.

I just had a really satisfying night out.

First of all, I ran into an ex I never got closure on (detailed more in RWA if you're interested). Then I met a coursemate from last year who'd never seen me as a girl before. I was expecting awkwardness, but she didn't bat an eyelid, and when I commented that I was impressed how unfazed she was, her reaction was more or less "Why would I care? You look amazing!"

Then, towards the end of the night, I had a long conversation with a cis girl I met there wherin she gave me fashion tips, seemed to have absolutely no idea I was anything other than a cis girl myself, and actually expressed jealousy over my body, and said she wouldn't have anything to complain about if she had my body!

All in all, I'm in a really good mood at the moment. Everything's come up Tam tonight.

Wow! Go you! That's exactly what you deserve to be able to hear!

Woo! You deserved all that. I'm so glad you got it.

My parents flip some serious... curse words if I ever bring more than 2 bottles of soda home. I'm envious.

It was for a party, really. Otherwise I try not to drink soda because of what it does to my teeth and to my gut.

And the ability to throw parties was one of the fringe benefits of having to pay for the luxury of not freezing to death in the winter, I suppose.

I don't know about everyone, since I don't really spend enough time here for that, but there are certainly people from here I consider extended family too.

Welp, very sexually confused at the moment. My preferences for men vs women flipped back and forth several times during a single... recreational interlude. It was all very weird.
