Aye, I sent a pm about a few days ago, as did Casualcryptic.
On a brighter note, anyone know what the difference between "OCG" and "TGC" are on DN?, I noticed mention of the terms at one point but wasn't able to figure out the context.

the context I encountered it in was regarding decks(ocg decks and tgc decks), though I suppose allowed cards might be different(for example, I’m pretty sure the american release doesn't have usable divine-beast cards, despite their presence in the Japanese game(the useable version are also available to be added to decks on DN, though they aren't that powerful nowdays)

Actually, there are usable versions of the divine beasts, but only Obelisk sees play because the other two are too expensive tribute-wise for their abilities.
And I can answer that question about TCG vs OCG as well. It stands for Trading Card Game vs Original Card Game I believe and the distinction is that yugioh was originally made by two companies which put out cards side-by-side. The cards could be used interchangeably but certain cards only came in packs produced by one company or the other. Interesting, no? Anyway, they both held separate tournaments. OCG allows... pretty much everything. And regular TCG rules do as well, but most tournaments and the Duel Networks rating system work off of the TCG advanced system in which certain cards are limited or banned.
So in short, when you hear TCG vs. OCG it usually refers to card restrictions vs. anything goes.
does it auto mark ocg cards?, I found a few I wasn't 100% sure about

If I recall correctly there are markings on the real cards yes, but as I said before you can use them interchangeably unless they are limited. The easiest way to find out if they are is to google the card name and look on the wiki page. Near the bottom of each page should be a secton that says TCG advanced / TCG / OCG. What you want is the entry under TCG advanced.
after looking into the ocg thing(along with your advice) I understand what it means now(or at least I think I do, I knew about the forbidden/limited thing before, but I think I understand the rest now).
Also, if I make a "looking for gm" thread for this, how does the following introduction sound?;
Due to our first planned gm vanishing a pbp game me, and a few other were trying to put together needs some one to act as a gm.
With regard to rules from the previous one that we would like to keep(or at least try out);
Everyone starts with a deck with unknown(but fairly weak) contents made by the gm, this is in order to make deck building more likely.
As the game progresses we can earn more cards(previous gm never stated anything specific), one though I had for handling this was using a separate currency from the d20 modern wealth system to handle obtaining cards(either specific cards, or randomized sets, perhaps easyish to get randoms, with specific individual cards being more costly)
Most of us also have characters already set up as well.
One rule I was also pondering was allowing players to pick a single card to include in their starter decks(a selection of a spell, trap, normal monster, or effect monster was my first idea for how to limit it)

if we do, I'll probably go with trance the magic swordsman or skull servent(if the gm chooses to limit it to non effect monsters) or with king of the skull servents or reaper of the cards(if the gm we find is fine with effect monsters)

Most effectless cards are useless you have an effect card which works off of them IMO. I'd probably just go with blue eyes. Otherwise, I can think of a few hyper useful cards.

Chained Birds popping in here (still Lurking)
OCG refers to cards that are only present in Japan and a few other Asian countries (mostly japan though). While TCG refers to everywhere else: Europe, Africa, The Americas, etc.
It is hard for people out of the loop to know whether a card is of OCG or a TCG exclusive so best not to think about it too much, as DN just grabs both to create its own tier list pretty much. And mixing up the two formats can create some pretty amazing decks.
People that tend to post "OCG Only" in the comments are either people who are practicing for TCG tournaments like YCS or Regionals and want to fight against the meta or decks they are more familiar with; but they can also be inept players who believe all those Japanese cards in the OCG are not real till they are turned over to the TCG... Don't play against them unless you know them or something.
Ah, that explains that bit.
also I know what you mean about normal monsters often being weak, which is why I selected either the highest attack level 6 normal monster, or skull servant, which nowdays has decent support(king of the skull servants gins 1000 attack and defense for every; skull servant, king of the skull servants, lady in wight, or wightmare in the graveyard, which can build up fairly easily, and I think there are also a few spell cards which support a skull servant deck), though I would imagine the gm will probably be fine with effect monsters, because it allows more, and more useful choices(main thing I was worried about was if someone selected a stronger effect monster choice then others, or something that could cause trouble if your deck didn't have standard ways to get rid of things that have effects making them unable to be destroyed by battle)

I Have a skull servant deck on DN that is decent. The best "support card" for a Skull Servant deck is Stumbling, which I'm fairly certain is unintentional.

Is it a Wright-Sworn one? In that deck you combine the milling power of lightsworn monsters with the King's eff to get stronger and stronger. Not the best deck ever, but can deal good damage and the lightsworns help out the utility of the deck.
Edit: oh, and don't forget the spell "One for one"
The Only lightsworn deck I have is a Zombie / Lightsworn Chaos Deck. It focuses on Macro Cosmos in combo with Necroface.
I use the following set for my Skull Servants, but keep in mind it's a back up deck:
1x Relinquished
1x Plaguespreader Zombie
3x King of the Skull Servants
3x Skull Servant
3x Wightmare
3x Lady in Wight
1x Mezuki
3x Pyramid Turtle
1x Advanced Ritual Art
1x One for One
1x Hand Destruction
1x Book of Life
2x Level Limit - Area B
2x Pot of Duality
2x Stumbling
1x Foolish Burial
1x Burial from a Different Dimension
2x Bait Doll
2x Chain Destruction
3x Raigeki Break
3x Dark Illusion

I've put up a recruiting a gm thread, to see if we can find someone.
Hopefully we can, as this sounds like a fun concept.

I've had a Skull Servant Deck lying around. It's pretty decent.
Looks something like this:
Spoiler
Monsters:
Skull Servant x3
Goblin Zombie x1
King of Skull Servants x3
Pyramid Turtle x2
Ryko, Lightsworn Hunter x2
Shutendoji x1
The Lady in Wight x3
Whightmare x3
Zombie Master x2
Spells:
Book of Life x2
Burial From a Different Dimension x1
Dark Hole x1
Foolish Burial x1
Heavy Storm x1
Lightning Vortex x1
Monster Reborn x1
Mystical Space Typhoon x2
Nobleman of Crossout x1
Smashing Ground x2
Traps:
Bottomless Trap Hole x2
Dark Bribe x2
Mirror Force x1
Needlebug Nest x2
The deck is a little old and I haven't updated it in like a year but it's still pretty effective. Wins about 70% of the time for me.

Though I should bump this to mention(too anyone who missed the newer recruitment thread) we did actually manage to find a new gm there probably is still some room, since it is rather sandboxy. link is here
