Default Player wants to use this feat. Thoughts?

So a new player wants to use this feat.
Psicrystal Weapon.

It looks fairly tame, but I am not an expert on Psionics. Thoughts?

Well, it doesn't actually gain HD, unlike a real psicrysal, so it seems like there's less potential for fun/abuse/power.

And it doesn't even get any free enchants or anything. It's paying a feat slot to get a +3 weapon property at 13th level.

I am sorry but the very first description states:
Hit Dice: For the purpose of effects related to number of Hit Dice, use the owner’s character level.

I would interpolate that as having hit dice. As a construct with hit dice it gets all the benefits thereof (feats etc).

Furthermore, nothing state you cannot have a Psicrystal and this Psicrystal Weapon. Would allowing a player both be ok?

That's basically the same language as the familiar gets (who, unfortunately is screwed on the HD front) rather than the psicrystal which does explicitly gain HD(though sadly only specified with a handful of classes rather than, say, any manifesting class).

I'm totally fine and indeed, support giving both familiars and psicrystal weapons additional HD though, especially as otherwise the psicrystal weapons would be rather HD-less, in retrospect.

Allowing both feats should be fine, though he'd be better off getting two psicrystals, probably.

Good point. Sad to think that poor use of words makes a big difference there. Given that I am the DM, I'll let the Psicrystal Weapon gain feats and such just like a Psicrystal (I don't think it becomes a game changer).

Thanks for the input.

I could see him holding a touch power in the weapon before combat begins and then thwacking an enemy for damage + power. Assuming the weapon can be enchanted normally. Otherwise I don't see much point past level 10 when he'll almost need a magically or psionically enhanced weapon. At least not as a weapon. He still might do other things with it.

Or, perhaps, I've just made a reading error and their error was in being unnecessarily ambiguous by the unecessary repetition and they intended it to have HD as master and HD for effects as master.

Honestly not sure after reading their psicrystal entry on that site.
