Finding Players (Recruitment)Look for players for chatroom, play-by-post, or even real-life games here. Threads will expire after 3 months, so be sure to move important information to your OOC thread.
I'm serious this time. I'm not going to fail you all for a third time, my shame would be too great, were that to happen. So here it is, the third try at my forum emblem game. Let's get into it.
Character Creation and General Information:
-Classes: contains class info, such as starting stat points, growth points, skills, etc
-Weapons and Items: all the stuff you will find in the game.
-Not Using weapon weight
-Magic users might see a small nerf
-Use the template below for posting your submission
-Limited number of slots (10-12), I will take alternatives as people are likely to drop
-No lord bonuses, but I will want a party leader from an OOC perspective. If a character has reasons to lead the group IC, but the player doesn't wish to OOC, that's fine
-Choosing a class/weapon/role that is over loaded is likely to see you not picked.
-I intend for the game to be difficult, but I will not throw any curve balls at you. I have all the tools at my disposal that you do. If I bring in something new, you will have plenty of warning. That being said, expect the first few maps to be easier than later maps.
-Level caps are up for debate, as well as having max stats.
-You can be from any country you want, I will work on tying everything together
-You start in the capital of Chalym, again.
-No more than two growths/stats can share the same number, and there can be no more than one such pair for each type. IE, 55, 55, 55, is unacceptable, 55, 55, 60, 60, also bad.
-The party will need a smith and enchanter if they want to be able to buy good items between maps. This will account for rare items, like killing edge, or physic, etc. Never mind, this isn't something I want to deal with right now.
-Affinities
-Supports: One A, one B, one C. You gain one rank after 3 maps with your chosen support. By 18 maps in, you will be done with supports. This will likely be sped up for later units.

Spoiler
Chalym is known as the final resting place of the last of the dragons, though many people throughout the land doubt the existence of such a being. Chalym ceded from Tujivaro one hundred years ago, after several long years of bitter conflict, as Tujivaro saw little reason why they should allow Chalym to break away from them. The greatest heroes of legend always seem to come from Chalym, including the founder of the ancient Garganth empire. People from Chalym are seen as fiery and passionate, but also stubborn.
Taelos is the most recently founded country, and is still considered a frontier land to the majority of people in the more urbanized southern countries. It was settled about one hundred and fifty years ago, before the war between Chalym and Tujivaro. In recent years, they settled the lush land separated from all of the countries by mountains and sea, but this was very recently abandoned when the once lush forests withered and died, giving way to what is now a barren desert. People from Taelos are seen as resourceful and durable, but also uncouth.
Tujivaro was once part of the original Garganth empire, which included both Chalym and the current country of Garganth. They, along with Chalym broke away from Garganth peacefully nearly four hundred years ago. Tujivaro is known to produce very capable mages and in turn has some of the best academic and scientific schools in the world. People from Tujivaro are seen as intelligent and calm, but also deceptive.
Garganth was the founding country, formed over one thousand years ago from the scattered settlements all across the southern part of the continent. In all it’s years, Garganth has never been involved in any serious wars or conflicts, instead remaining neutral in such things, like the wars between Chalym and Tujivaro. Because of it’s original size and it’s history, Garganth is the wealthiest of the four countries, though recently, Taelos’ rapid expansion has brought them great wealth, perhaps rivaling Garganth someday soon. Garganth is known as the spiritual capital of the world, boasting more bishops and more extravagant churches than any other country. People from Garganth are seen as peaceful and trustworthy, but also subtle.
The uncontested mountains are almost impossible to pass through if you do not live there, and there are a few that do. Mostly rugged men and women that often have to raid their low-land neighbors to even scrape by. They were forced there during ages past when the great hero united the settlements into the great Garganth empire. People from the mountains are seen as powerful, unpredictable and dangerous.
Recent information:
Spoiler
In the last few decades, the power and holding of the four nations has waned, giving way to much banditry along the borderlands, and in recent times, they have been growing more and more aggressive, pressing deeper into the country land. After the last war between Chalym and Tujivaro, provoked by a hidden and powerful guild of assassins, the alliances between the two countries has remained tentative at best. Garganth has become more and more introverted as their nation suffers internal strife. With the other three countries in strife and falling on hard times Taelos has withered without trade to fuel their economy. And worst of all, the last heir of Chalym has recently perished, leaving just the prince of Garganth remaining, now the sole heir to the greatest treasure in the land, the Fire Emblem. Many fear for the prince's life, but he is widely considered one of the greatest warriors of the age, and that he fears nothing. Now a small group from Chalym must deliver their prized Fire Emblem into the hands of the last Prince, before civilization is lost.

Someone inform me what the tag is so that none of my code renders.
The 'lord' that isn't actually a 'lord' more of a 'leader' but still might be an actual lord because the world is only suffering from a critical prince shortage right now and who gets absolutely nothing from being a 'lord'.
Man, I love it when things are simple.
EDIT: Oh and uh, might wanna look at that table in the character creation template.

Heh, well, it was more I don't like the notion of a lord having advantages over other people. Now, you can be a noble, have people call you lord, pretend like you own the place, but your class title will never be lord! Bwahahahahaha! Mine is an evil laugh.
Marigold lived a normal life in a village of Chalym until she turned 15. On the day of her fifteenth birthday the bandits raided the village. Their target was loot and not the death of the village however they still cut down anyone that stood in their way, including Marigold's best friend. Marigold prayed to whatever would hear to save her best friend.
A powerful spirit fey heard her plea, deciding that Marigold was "cute" and "fun" she agreed to Marigold's wish and gave additional powers in exchange for a price.
Ever since Marigold took the deal Marigold could wield sinister powers, this would normally have gotten her kicked out of her village, but the fey whispered secrets to Marigold. Secrets of the future which Marigold shared, eventually warning of a second bandit attack, and forewarned the villagers were able to get their revenge. However the fey decided that wouldn't be fun, and eventually started mis-leading Marigold. After one too many mis-predictions Marigold was kicked out of the village.
Now adays the fey tells the truth more often then not, but Marigold as been finding it harder and harder to resist the fey's "advice"

Marigold is very devoted to her friends, she expects the same from them however and has no excuses for her friends refusing to protect her.
The fey that inhabits Marigold has a in-human set of priorities, she is sometimes willing to help, but she'll only help if she thinks the person is attractive. And the only thing she thinks is attractive is red hair. However she isn't 100% reliable and may decide to hinder those that seek her power for her own amusement.
Looking forward to this, but your google doc isn't allowing me to open it. Says I don't have permission. (Also, is the table broken on the signup sheet or is it just me?)
EDIT: The Caps row. Should be a column.

Thanks. Hell, what character did I sign up with last time? Think it might've been the generic Malcolm... tempted to sign up with him again (except this time on the starting team)

Ooooooh, now I get what you are saying. The intent of that row was for you to put in your stat point cap and growth cap so I wouldn't have to reference the document. But what you thought is also good.

"There once was a pirate named Murd'rin' Maxine,
And she was the nastiest you've ever seen.
She always wins battles, her senses are keen,
She's ruthless and violent and ever so mean.
Sing way, hey, the Green Bat Crew,
They'll kill me and they'll kill you.
They take no pris'ners, have no shame,
And violence is their fav'rite game.
The Green Bat Crew has quite a name,
But no one dares to question the dame
Who owns the ship, she's much to fame-
Ous for all her fights end the same.
Sing way, hey, the Green Bat Crew,
They'll kill me and they'll kill you.
They take no pris'ners, have no shame,
And violence is their fav'rite game.
Maxine takes no men on her ship,
Unless they're there to slave and whip,
So if you're male, you'd better skip
A Green Bat's invite for a trip.
Sing way, hey, the Green Bat Crew,
They'll kill me and they'll kill you.
They take no pris'ners, have no shame,
And violence is their fav'rite game.
One day, the Crew all disappeared,
They haven't been seen for many a year,
No one knows if they're there or here,
But their name will always inspire fear.
Sing way, hey, the Green Bat Crew,
They'll kill me and they'll kill you.
They take no pris'ners, have no shame,
And violence is their fav'rite game."

Born on the islands of Taelos, Maxine was the daughter of a tradesman. Her father owned a small ship, and he would take her on trips from the island to trade with other areas. Once while on a voyage, the ship was besieged by pirates, and all of the goods were taken. When the ship arrived on land, Maxine's father was in shambles. He could not make any money, and he had no money for a return trip home. The tradesmen ruined him. Frustrated with the tradesmen and angry at the pirates, Maxine called forth a crew and set off in her father's ship...
Spoiler
Years later, Maxine's Green Bat Crew were known as the deadliest pillagers on the seas. They were absolutely relentless with tradesmen, and Taelos had no army to stop them. For years, they continued to pillage, Maxine hoping to restore her father's place in his craft. Then Taelos' trade began to wane, and Maxine could find no ships to pillage. Her crew disbanded, and she has been living in the mountains ever since, hoping to one day return to the seas...

Fire Emblem Spritesman Inna Playground - Let me know if you set up a game!
Born in the mountains near Garganth, he (Jack) has made a living for as long as he remembers by plying his 'trade' on unaware travellers and merchants. He's recently managed to hit up an unfortunate member of the clergy and has 'relieved' the man of the terrible burden of his fine, fine, clothing.
Hit with sudden inspiration (and totally not horrible indigestion), he cast off his soiled tatty old garments and began a new life as a missionary priest, off to spread the word of... well, whatever religion that priest had been a part of - oh, and to make lots of money. That was important too.
Description:
Spoiler
Jack is a man with a simple motivation - get money.
What after? Well, maybe a family, maybe start up a trading company. At any rate, better food and drink feature somewhere on that list of his.
He's currently pretending to be a priest, operating under the notion that priests make lots of money (from ripping off the till).
"Of course god loves you? What, you want an actual verse? Alright, well, the, uh, the ... tenth book of Kallico... twelfth verse states, uh, "and lo the shadow of Ao the Father fell upon Zielaph and he fell to his knees and wept, for he knew that he was loved".
What do you mean that's not a real book? It's non-canonical - you don't want me to enlighten you? Fine, okay, go ask your priest, he'll tell you that I was right!
Of course I'll stay here, what do you take me for?
Whew, finally gone. That was close..."

I'm not sure, did I do this correctly?
Edit: Herpestidae, if you want to play an archer I can change to thief.
Xander's life has always revolved around conflict, one way or another. He was born into a house divided along the border between Chalym and Tujivaro. It had been many decades since the bloody war for secession, but there along the borders, where graves of opposing combatants rest almost within eyesight of one another, the rancor still ran deep.
His father Chael hailed from Chalym, while his mother Isabella came from Tujivaro. Though they never cared about that distinction, their families very much did. They pleaded their case to allow their union to persist, but to no avail. Ironically enough, it was hate, not love, that brought the two families together in the end. Zealots on both sides of the schism cooperated to ensure that the child, an abomination in their eyes, never live to learn why it was so hated.
They attacked at night--a force not entirely unexpected but more overwhelming than Xander's parents had expected. Seeing the horde approaching, they had only one choice. Isabella took young Xander and fled as quickly as possible, while Chael stayed behind to buy them some time. He was a fine warrior still in his prime, but no one could have overcome those odds. Xander's lasting memory of that fateful night is the sight of Tujivaro-trained mages burning down his childhood home--and with it, his father.
As soon as Xander was old enough to take up arms, he picked up a sword and never looked back. School, friends, romance--those things were not for him. He knew only the desire for battle; for vengeance. Isabella pleaded with him to promise that he would come home alive, but all Xander could do was promise her he would not die in vain.
For a time, Xander simply sold his services to the highest bidder. He didn't care much what the goal was, so long as it did not include harming innocent women or children. He got better and better with his sword with each additional victory, until it became a natural extension of his arm.
All the while, magic unsettles and raises painful emotions in Xander. He neither trusts nor respects those who wield it, associating the entirety of magic users with the renegade adepts who robbed him of a home a childhood, and a father.
Xander doesn't fight for money, he fights for the peace it brings him. He finds solace in conflict because it is all he has ever known. When clashing swords and trading blows, he has control; he feels alive.
Description:
Spoiler
Xander possesses a gruff exterior with an even more jagged interior. Almost irrevocably jaded by the events of his childhood, Xander is loathe to get close to anyone, as he believes everyone is dangerous in their own way. He is especially reluctant to get romantically involved with anyone, lest he bring another child into this broken, cruel world.
Out of battle, Xander won't say much of anything, if at all. He simply has nothing to say. In battle, he still remains silent unless something tactical needs to be mentioned. Left to his own devices, he will cut a swath through the enemy, ignoring minor wounds while carried on by a singular drive to continue fighting.

Matthias was born to noble parents. He was an energetic, curious child who loved to read. When he was ten years old, he discovered a book of Magic Spells. Interested, he cast a spell out of sheer curiosity, and it backfired on him. Ever since then, he was unable to talk or make any sound. He devoted several years of his life studying dark magic to reverse the spell, only to discover that the countercurse requires that it be spoken by the caster of the initial curse. Optimistic that he would find a way one day to undo the curse, he turned to the Church. As it was Dark magic that cursed him, it's was obvious to him that Light Magic could dispel it. He's been studying ever since.
Description:
Spoiler
He's a good listener and generally pleasant to be around. He's learned to communicate through hand signals, and after getting to know him, many people only have to look at him to understand him. He's hopelessly optimistic, unlike most others who understand Elder magic, and can see the good in everyone. At the same time, he tends to pry. Once he knows you have a problem, he will not rest until he gets you to talk about it.

Awesome. Going to tweak Xander slightly, since I feel like the growth in Res would be futile no matter what and could be better utilized elsewhere. I'll incorporate a distaste/fear of magic in the backstory.
Edit: And will change stats around for the avoiding repeats rule!
