Dear Raynnversers, I will at some point in the near to distant future be beginning a continuation of the Raynnnverse. This will either be a continuation of the story that was cut off in the Revolution and the Reign or an 'Ultimate Raynnverse'. Whether the continuation is played or not it will have a definite end point and the 'Ultimate Raynnverse' game will be played some time after it finishes.
If of course there is no interest in either of these events than of course the games will not be run.
If at all possible the games will be played over IRC or Skype Chat. This clause will more than likely be put aside if the Reign-Revolution arc is ended by myself.
Ladorak mentioned the possibility of running the Reign-Revolution storyline to conclusion before my disappearance so if he chose there is also the possibility of him running the Reign-Revolution to its conclusion while I GM the 'Ultimate Raynnverse' on IRC, if parties are interested.
One note on the 'Ultimate Raynnverse' concept. It will not be played with the Mutants & Masterminds 2nd Edition system. Instead I will put forward several systems and players will give their preference. The 'fluff' of the game will remain the same. Current suggested systems include 'Marvel Heroic Roleplaying Game' & the 'Smallville RPG'.
The 'Ultimate Raynnverse' will have elements of the Raynnverse, but none that overlap with other sources e.g. no Green Lantern, Dream of the Endless, and all NPCs will essentially be 'Ultimate' versions of Raynnverse characters. Pure Raynnverse if you will. Also the game will be more character driven and a little less silver age, involving the dawn of super heroes in this new setting.
So any comments? Anyone still subscribed to this thread?
Anyone want me to just go disappear again?

Smallville RPG looks interesting - I've never played it, but I've looked at the Leverage RPG which is based on the same Cortex system, and it was really really good.
Well, I have the Marvel Universe RPG with the stones and such, if that's the one we're talking about. I'll have to look into this Smallville one.

I actually only have one other Superhero RPG system, Classic Marvel FASERIP. Fun system for a change of pace (especially with random roll character generation) though I might not say that it's a well-made system like M&M.

I definitively wouldn't mind a continuation of the Reign/Revolution. I could give a shot atUltimate Raynnverse.
I am not keen on IRC/Skype for reasons of language and more importantly
time differences.
I have neither the smallville RPG, neither MarvelOriginal I'll look into them if I have the time (which given incomming finals in January may take a while), I am intruigued by the smallville one, but frankly, I am not particulary interested in purchassing them for only one game when I already have a system that already covers 'superhero stuff' very well for my need (not to mention a general freedom in character creation which I enjoy a lot.l).

Between the two Smallville, but others will likely suggest systems. I mean its the dawn of super humans so it will be up to players how four color the world becomes. Technically people could want to be normal people in a world on the edge of super-dom which would make even World of Darkness a possible system.

Secondly I'm not familiar with either system, but I never watched Smallville and love some Marvel, so there's my vote.

Second, I'd be more than happy to continue on with Reign and Revolution, no matter who was at the helm. They were both in interesting spots, to say the least.
As for Ultimate Raynnverse, um, it sounds neat? I joined the madhouse one game ago, a reset doesn't mean anything to me, but I'd be down for it. Finding a time for an IRC/Skype game would be a bit chewy, but doable, at least with with my schedule as it stands now.
Now the sticking point. I have to echo smuch here, I'm afraid. I have neither system you suggested for the Ultimate Raynnverse, and no real interest in buying either of them, because I'm poor and they won't get used. I gave the Serenity/Firefly version of the rules a shot a while back (I see they don't even have it in the store anymore), and they were terrible. I dislike the "story" based systems in general, since they're no better at actually telling a story than a system like MnM, and I've found that what it really means is "our combat and creation systems weren't actually playtested and are blatantly inferior, but look, shiny pictures!"
There's a quote from a guy on the GURPS forums (not a system I'd recommend here, actually. Too granular for superheroes. Better for "normal" people.) that sums up how I feel nicely. "If you want a game that lets you experience the brutality, angst and alienation of being a werewolf, pick WoD. If you want a combat system that actually works, pick GURPS."
To be more plain and blunt (because I'm always sunshine and daisies, I know ): I love character creation. It's half the fun for me. The MW systems are awful for it, vague to the point of just being freeform, and if I wanted to play freeform, I wouldn't have a shelf full of RPG books.
If you really want to play them, then just ignore my idiotic rambling. It's great to have you back, and you have my blessings and support (and axe) for any game you pitch, but it seems like fixing something that isn't broken.

Time is actually a concern for me too. I've got 4 games going atm (two of them are daily posting ones) and GM'ing FF still. Whether I'll have time for another may depend, especially for learning a new system. And when Rev and Reign continue I'll definitely be short on time.
But we'll see Also I would like to agree that GURPS doesn't quite fit superheroes well. One look at the rulebook should explain it all

First off, as with the others, hooray! Missed ya, Raynn.
Now then. If it's over IRC or skype, I worry that I may lack the time necessary in the coming months (as I only have two weeks of winter break) to fit it in along with work and school and the other two IRC super games I'm involved with. As well, the learning of a new ruleset would be kinda difficult for me to handle as things get busier.
That said, if the old threads are picked up, with M&M 2e and PbP and whatnot, I'm totally down, yo.

In theory the Ultimate Raynnverse could step away from Superheroes if that is what players prefer but no matter the setting or style there will be call backs to the original -verse.

Good to see everyone back together . I'd love a new pbp, but I don't really have money for a new system at the moment. I know MnM 2E and DnD 3&4E, but I also have MnM 3e in pdf and Vampire the Masquerade, neither of which I've ever bothered to learn. I probably couldn't do an IRC game since my work schedule is inconsistent and I wouldn't have a usual time to play.
I suppose World of darkness is sadly NEW world of darkness ? (Cuz sadly I don't have books in that one)
I have:
M&M
D&D 3.0, 4.0 (player handbooks)
Some OWoD
Call of Chtuluh (have a fthagh'n christmass folks)
Anything that can be downloaded as a free PDF.
I'd just rather if we kept up with M&M (preferably 2nd ed) for anything Raynnverse related
But otherwise I'd be totaly okay for trying something new. (As long as you don't mind giuding thoughthe creation process or having to remind me the rules every ten seconds because I likely won't have the book.) I really wouldn't mind stepping away from superheroes and particulary for a while too.
Part time gods sounds like a promessing name, tell us more about it.
PS: Psst, speaking of Raynnverse playing non superheroes game, anyone rembers about this ?.
