Admittedly, I do both, depending on the image. I'm sure it shows.

It's pretty Fun.
I see; it's that kind of game. Sounds interesting, I'll take more of a look into it when I get the chance.

Smooth lines?
You start with a huge canvas, and you zoom out. You use slightly too big a brush size, and then, when you have the general idea, you use fine eraser work to get rid of excess.
It is totally different from using a pencil, and quite frankly is a pain in the plot.
Yeah, it's a pain alright. That's pretty much what I do, though my lines should probably be thicker. Maybe I need to zoom out more and go for quicker strokes. Or something.
Anyway, I started work on another pic. Didn't progress very far; I have a habit of starting too late, then I'm tired and get irritable when things go wrong. I'll try and start drawing earlier in the day from now on. I'm hoping this one will be good though.

You could compare your drawing on the Sliding Scale of Improvement instead of the Subjective Scale of Goodness too.

Madcrafter, you're doing well but your clothes still all look really flat. I advise looking for some kind of tutorial on clothing folds (I used an art book so I don't have a good link), and/or drawing people without much clothes on so you get a better feel for body shape.
Sub objective for myself, too. Legs!

Kind of doubled as a very basic experiment in terrible lighting of multiple sources. Mostly just an excuse to draw pony, but that goes without saying, right?

Looks good to me, especially in small size. Like something sinister is going on with white paint.

Anyone have any suggestions/requests?
Thanks. So, you're partial to the vrocks sexy demon ass is it? Why didn't you just say so?
Also seconding the request for suggestions.

Ah man. I try to resist when you guys ask this, but two at once? I can't help myself.
Entirely Selfish Suggestion;
Spoiler
Draw my oc, the Robo-Ponithid, doing something active/meeting another pony for the first time.
Spoiler
Mane is a series of seperate and shortish tentacles, coiled around each other like a braid. Mouth tentacles are in a diamond formation, one at the front, one on each side of the mouth and one under the chin, so to speak. Freckles but no cutie mark.
More Serious Suggestions;
Spoiler
Draw;
An Urban Location touched by magic.
A person who has been hollowed out, a strange entity and/or being is now wearing their body, looking at the world with alien perspective.
A Spirit of Regret.
A sexy Vrock. The Machine.
A cute robot.
A self-aware Android on the run.
Robots don't eat brains, and that's all I could think of off the top of my head, so I went with a different prompt. Having picked up the escaped android quest in Fallout 3 just yesterday, decided to pick that one. (Some games I just play really slowly...).

Oh, right, yes. I get you.
Well, Robo-Ponithid's backstory, so to speak, has been filtered through and formed via ponythread hijinks and is quite involved at this point.
Suffice to say, Robo Ponithid is a good pony and does not eat brains*.
*The above statement assumes we put asside whether a robot built in the shape of a pony bio-engineered in a blender run-off vat is infact a pony, or capable of genuine sentience enough as to qualify as anything more than an object and therrefor be said to be a morally good or bad anything. Not setting these other factors aside may result in metaphysical questionings of the nature of life and biological versus synthetic existence. Either way, Robo Ponithid does not eat brains, however.

Ponies are made of marshmallow and rubber. Also, you know, I totally forget to pay any attention at all to the way that pony legs are supposed to be jointed.
Also, it's a picture in a picture, so clearly the pony who drew that particular recruitment poster had a very flexible model to work from.
Suffice to say that no ponies were harmed in the production of the image or its constituant pieces, though Mask was at least mildly inconvenienced.
Oh I see. Not what I meant, of course, but I see what you did there.
So, I didn't do any of those suggestions yet, since I learned that there is now a 30 minute art challenge tumblr for us European folks and felt like joining in, despite how terribly tired I was.
It was actually a 50 minute challenge this time, and the subject was Winter.
