Sorry about that! I left him hanging this week. Been really distracted. But now I'm focused on... wait, what am I doing again? Oh right, watching youtube videos!
I'm going to have to bow out of this game. I used to have plenty of time during work hours to write up posts, but I've managed to take enough of the assistant director's load that I actually WORK the whole time I'm at work now. And my priorities lie elsewhere while I'm home -- even more so with the busy holiday season here.
I'll keep playing until we reach a point where it makes sense for Eveve to part ways. Having made a lot of noise about retrieving the splinter, it doesn't seem like she would just say "Okay, y'all go have fun with that, now". During this time, if there's something you'd like to ensure a quick response to, please email me at ac.employment@gmail.com -- my smartphone alerts me when I get something there, so I'm a lot more likely to sign in to see the game.

Sorry for the dead air here, as well, but I'm not going anywhere. Just can't really come up with anything to say. Just to confirm, though, ARE the body parts around the chest those of the elves?

The body parts do belong to the elves. It appears that when someone tries (and fails) to open the ark, that it sends an explosion of energy out, damaging those around it. You experience this when you were still with the caravan, but the damage wasn't as severe then. It seems like it may have gotten stronger since then. From repeated failed attempts? because it's closer to home? both? neither?
I hope that along with the requirements come some extra compensation. We will try not to spam you, and let you do what you need to do.
So, that comment about picking up an elven arm is looking more practical now. If only our little MacGuffin was smaller and easier to carry.
I'll ask about the splinter, and some other things, in a moment. I'm curious though, when did we get inside? I thought the tag [Exterior] meant we were still outside. I''ll post so place doesn't matter, I'm just trying to keep it straight in my head.
you're in the town outside the mines. If you go inside the mines (you don't need to ,but if you did) it would change to "interior"
edit: re the "kind" of magic. it most certainly is some necrotic magic put in place on the ark itself, and probably by someone/something that wants to keep the splinter unusable.
Today is day 3, I think. You guys can resupply though, and you have an opportunity to get some metal if you want, since this place is an iron mine town.
So, do you guys want to go shopping, investigate the box, etc? Whatever you want. I am going to write Eveve out at this point basically, which means that Kank would be gone too.
Calder is definitely going to want to check out the box, but despite his trust issues, he's likely going to ask Damakos use his skills in magic and Huren's nimble fingers.
Since most weapons are metal-equivalent in stats, what exactly would metal weapons do for us in terms of mechanics (beyond being expensive and a prime target for a mugging)?
I know it's a huge random shot in the dark...but any halflings around the mine? Looking for some info about how its going back home... also, what kind of establishments are outside the mine? Any shops?

Metal weapons would have less of a chance of breaking. We haven't explored the breakage mechanic yet, but as we get into more combat it will definitely come up.
And although you don't see any halflings, you do recognize a few halfling-made items as you glance around town.
There are pretty standard village-level shops here. A general store of sorts that has all sorts of basic trade goods (survival stuff), an armorer, a stable, and a smithy.
Melt, do you want Eveve to stick around until you can find a replacement fifth character? She left the room, but she can certainly re-enter it. I've mostly been quiet because I don't have any shopping to do (okay, also because I had my computer unplugged for moving everyfreakingthing in my room).

You can stay as long as you want. I know you're pressed for time and all that, but it's truly up to you.
I'm actually waiting for *anyone* to make a move at this point. If you guys want supplies then go and RP it. If you don't, then just let me know and we'll move on
I'm not really a big shopper, IC or IRL, I have to admit. Sorry I haven't posted here, been busy/not sure how to move things forward without cutting anyone off. And I'm having difficulty figuring out what kind of metal item Calder would want. A weapon makes sense, but I don't want to replace that, and armor would be too shiny and heavy. While I like the fluff of the current shield, I think a metal shield would be the most appropriate, unless he just gets something simple, like a necklace or spoon.
@Meltman, since we're losing a defender and bringing back a healer, do you want me to/mind if I rework Van into a hybrid fighter/warlord or something? I've played defenders before and to be honest it would still fit with Van's personality, fighting style and background perfectly.
