@Marlowe: Yep, he's got the healing wand and the ranks in Use Magic Device. Raif's got one good heal left, plus a healing potion, so once Drayner's up he'll be our main healer for the encounter.
I actually have a couple of healing potions, and I can probably use a healing wand without rolling UMD, right?

Yeah, Verossa's in the same situation. To use a wand for a spell that's not on your list, you need Spellcraft, which every caster has. If not you use UMD, which not a lot of classes have.

I don't know how this works for Fire Shugenja, by the way.
The Shugenja, of course, has healing spells in its list, but they are all in the water school, meaning they are all barred if you choose the fire school.
Simple work around is to play an Air or Earth Shugenja instead, or just buy a cross-class rank in UMD (Shugenja get 4 skill points per level, are reasonably SAD, are Charisma-based and only get diplomacy, Concentration, SPlcrt, and knowledges as class skills. They can spare some cross-class skilling).
This might be a good time for everyone to drink their healing potions. I know we're sitting on them for emergencies, but it's better to drink them and win than to have our enemies loot them from our cooling corpses. Once Raif's got Drayner stable and up he'll probably be drinking his (on 7hp).
More like they work really well! You have to wonder what effect it would have on the development of cavalry. That kind of spell would probably also seriously retard the development of artillery as well.

@Marlowe: the forum roller's curse on ranged weapons returns.
@Malak'ai: So if I've understood correctly, Raif doesn't need to make a Use Magical device check, or any other kind of check to the wand, as he has Cure light wounds on his spell list.
@Wordplay: Yes you can use spells contained in wands, scrolls, rods or staves without making any sort of roll if you have that spell on your spell list.

Haha! And I bet she found some sort of loophole in her Knightly Code that allows this. She's not lying, the dice roller is!
Please could everyone keep their Hp on their character sheets up to date so that I can optimize the healing. I'm pretty sure that I've got it worked out, but it will help me avoid any mistakes.
