This is the beginning information for the PTA campaign. UDT group.
The area you (my players) will begin the game in an average sized town named Wulfington.
Association amongst the group can be fostered via backstory or by right of forced working.
The beginning will be kept simple, there will be no choice of starter. This is common knowledge for all aspiring pokemon trainers coming from your village.
Please post your plans for back story. There will be the possibilty of bonuses in cash, items, starting knowledge or pokemon depending on your ideas whether built separate or together. Optimal setup would include your preferred class path to harken to your back story beginnings. Your actual in game knowledge of being a trainer will be limited to no hands on experience, except in the case of a very well done and inclusive back story.
For example of no hands on knowledge:
A) Word of mouth from Trainers visiting
B) Social Media (TV, Radio, Paper, Internet)
C) The professor himself
Spoiler
The town itself is of average size and contains your basic necessities for the pokemon world.
Pokemart, pokemon center and gym from pokemon constants as well as life necessities. Grocery... etc. There is a large ranch attached to the local pokemon lab lead by Professor Wulfric(also the man who started the town) He is the one who gives out certifications for pokemon trainers. He hires no one from the town, so any backstories including jobs cannot include him.
Starting age will be between 14 to 18. By average size, i mean the town houses roughly 60 citizens at any point in time comprising of 23 homes of various sizes.
Alright, on a PC now instead of Tablet and time for an info dump! (Incoming Wall of Text)
The town itself is actually built over the remains of what used to be called Pallet Town. Roughly 40 years ago the small hamlet was destroyed in what was called a terrorist attack but no one actually knows the reason why disaster befell the town. Most of the reason is that the place was attacked by unknown means to the point that all that was left, was a crater 50 feet deep and 200 feet wide. A scant six months later a burgeoning professor named Alphonse Wulfric, a boy that started his life as a pampered boy of the upper crust and moved on in life to become a renowned breeder, spent the wealth his father left him to "Repair the area and restore a lost cultural zone." This particular quote ties into Wulfric's boyhood idol, the Pokemon league champion Red who came from the very town that was lost. The man was heralded as a public hero for his contribution and the repair effort of the land turned into a land settlement. Popularity for the place was enourmous at first but once the land was one again made whole most of the popularity died off and only small percentage of those that came ended up staying as permanent residents. Time flew past in the now large (compared to its roots) village that had settled down along with the populace.
Your characters can either be born and raised in the town, or have moved in and lived there a minimum of three years to attend general school(two and a half years) with a 6 month long seminar from Wulfric on being a Pokemon Trainer. The game will begin on the very day of your 'graduation' and 'employment' by Wulfric. Details to be cited at game start of the latter.
Much like Pallet town, Wulfington is a port city that connects to the seafoam islands, which has since recovered from a terrible volcano eruption. Trade is constant with three different piers for incoming/outgoing ships along with a smaller pier for domestic sailors and those that travel of their own power. There are two farms that are run by the same rancher to help provide food for the burg as well as local fishers. Domestics are largely shipped in either via land to the thriving Viridian City or over the ocean from the Seafoam Islands. If you wish to include jobs had from back story it may include any job in the town from fisher, to farmer, to grocer... etc. As stated earlier the only position not available is working with the Professor himself or on his Pokemon Ranch. Majorly, the town exports out Pokemon the Professor himself has raised and those donated by trainers he has out in the world.
As stated earlier, back stories can be set alone from others or set together which will help in team coordination and cohesion. I will not work to keep the team from killing each other.
The political situation is arranged as such that each town is run by it's own elected mayor/governor, this is then managed by the police network that attends to all cities, immigration and trainer control entering the lands un-supervised is controlled by the pokemon rangers. Over-arcing control of these services is run by the ruling government which of this time is the 'elite four' of each region and a small collection of 4 non-trainers to balance the choices made for the regions. All firearms are contraband unless in the hands of the police or ranger.
Common History Knowledge for anyone native to Wulfington (Born there).
A few months before the fall of Pallet Town, Red faced off against Giovanni in Viridian City. The culmination of the fight was the utter destruction of the Gym and a few surrounding buildings, the broken corpse of Giovanni on the street and Red pulling away from all human contact and hasn't been seen since. Some felt convinced the attack on Pallet Town was concocted by Team Rocket, however, at the time all known and some at the time unknown operatives were under arrest. Every former member stated they had no idea how it occured nor did they understand what caused the explosion. As a silver lining to this event, public outcry forced the hand of the ruling committee and both police and rangers enforced more control over people moving both through cities and over the wilds. This enhanced coverage meant that not only was there a higher recruiting drive to fill the positions required but that taxes and prices were raised to pay for the services. To this day no one has voiced against this as crime the likes of which plagued the land during the hay-day of team rocket hasn't been seen since.
Common History for anyone who has spent at least 5 years in the Kanto region, Wulfington
All the towns of the Kanto region have seen anywhere from minor growth to explosive growth in both population and wealth. No city better represents this than Wulfington going from a scar in the earth to a bustling city. Viridian city comes close with its modest constant population of around 40. Pewter city has seen little change aside from the expansion of the museum and the addition of trailer space for visiting scientists. While Cinnabar Island has never really recovered as well since the volcano, the surrounding islands in the seafoam island chain has prospered. The exact changes to the other towns is mostly un-mentioned around town.
Professor Wulfric often visits the school to talk to the children of various ages, talking of pokemon, quizzing them of details and generally introducing the world of trainers. It has been set as a standard that nearing the end of their school time (and in some cases even before that) Wulfric invites students to take part in his six month seminar to become pokemon trainers, explore the world, achieve their goals and make some money. Habitually, this happens every other year.

Bio:
Spoiler
Jake's father (Rick Wulven) moved to the town from Blackthorn city in the Johto region twenty five years ago. He married a local nurse (Janine Gilmore) and she eventually gave birth to two kids, the eldest Tom (age 20) and the youngest Jake.
A large group the Wulven family is known back in Johto for their skill as dragon trainers. But they have had there share of individuals who lacked the skill or interest in trade and moved onto other things, such as Jake's father. While not a very good battler or trainer his skill in architecture helped with some of the development of Wulfinton. He encouraged both his boys to try the learn the trade at a young age.
Jake showed a passing interest for his father's work but soon became an avid enthusiast for Pokemon battles and when he's not working (helping load and unload cargo on the docks), or hanging out after school with his friends he can be found glued to the TV hearing whatever he can on the latest league battles. He greatly enjoyed visits from his uncle (Thomas Wulven) who would tell him about some of the sights back in Blackthorn and about some of the more famous trainers who emerged from there (Lance and Clair).
This has naturally effected his schooling as anything that didn't directly relate to Pokemon (specifically battling or training) he rarely paid attention in, just skirting by with average scores until they moved onto something interesting (mooching off of Gene whenever he could). Whenever Wulfinton visits the school Jake is one of the first to meet him, his seminar being the one of the few times Jake has ever paid attention in class.
Upon nearing completion of Wulfinton's seminar Jake's uncle gave him a pokemon to take care of; a pathetic looking fish. Hearing tale upon tale of mighty dragons clashing, their power and strength, he wanted Jake to understand that not all pokemon were as strong as they appeared to be. As weak as this mon looked if Jake took proper care of it he could one day see its full potential.
Long term goal:
Spoiler
To one day become as powerful of a trainer as the legendary Lance (but not Clair, since he can't rock the leather).
Personality:
Spoiler
Coming off as a jerk Jake is an arrogant, aggressive trainer despite knowing full well that he's a rookie (at best). He's determine to see a situation (be it a fight or otherwise) to the finish and nothing irks him more than a problem left unresolved.
He can be inattentive to his surroundings and tends to focus on one thing at a time but whatever has his attention Jake sticks too.
Despite the flaws he's loyal to friends and won't think twice about supporting them. He just may have a snide comment afterwards.

I've never played Pokémon: Tabletop Adventures before and, in fact, have yet to sit down and read the rulebook. Heck, I've never even played in a thread like this before! This will either be hilarious or hilariously sad. Either way.

Q&A: Who were / are his parents? Was he raised by them? In not, then by whom? What did they do prior to Gene's birth and what do they do now? Does Gene have any siblings or extended family? Who are his friends and how close are they? Does he have any rivals? Has he been in any relationships before?
Long Term Goal
To understand everything important there is to know about the universe, apply that knowledge to become omnipotent, and use that power to rewrite reality because he has some objections to the way it works now. ...that or become really damned famous for brainy science-y things and get all the bitches. Bitches love brainy science.
Seriously though, the physics of the Pokéverse are goddamn weird, man, and Gene really wants to understand how things work just for the love of knowledge. His end goals are a bit completely undefined (there are just so damned things he could do with his life!), but becoming a tenured professor in a well known university? Works for him.
Drunk science is just kind of a hobby.

For generations the Ulfton family traveled across the world, coming across people and pokemon from every corner or the world; some as fierce trainers and others as collectors of pokemon lore, legend and of pokemon themselves. Twenty years ago (from game start) the youngest daughter at the age 20, Alicia settled down to take command of the Dewford Island fighting Gym; claiming to had found her calling, with her family's vast collection of Fighting types; specializing in fighting types that had alternative typing to cover the innate weaknesses of her gym. Soon after, she met her husband Abraham and the two settled down and began a family of four; with their first son Cain and the second Joseph.
Joseph, along with his elder brother Cain, spent his early years training with his mother, Alicia in her gym: watching matches and familiarizing himself with various pokemon. For a time all was well until Joseph turned 6 and Cain left for his pokemon journey at the age of 18. While fine at first, with Cain calling in and reporting his progress every so often; especially after Gym Victories, things began to sour when Joseph turned 8 and Cain stopped calling, the last being heard of in Goldenrod City.
At first Alicia and Abraham didn't think anything of it, but after a month of no news, Joseph's parents started searching for Cain by calling local authorities and contacts throughout the Hoenn and Johto regions, following the path of cities Cain would be traveling through. Each contact had the same reaction, none of them in either region had seen Cain since his initial disappearance. When all the contacts in the other two regions came up empty, Alicia called on her brother Bjor and his wife Ingrid in Wolfington hoping they saw him traveling Kanto. But as with every other contact, the answer was no.
As the months passed, and Joseph turned 9, Alicia and Abraham grew more and more distant. Alicia became fierce in her Gym battles, even on occasion killing a few challenger's pokemon. Abraham likewise lost himself in his breeding of pokemon, determined to make even stronger pokemon for his wife to use and to use himself to someday search for Cain. With Cain gone and his parents burying themselves in their work, Joseph spent the year alone.
By the age of 10, life was returning to normal, but disaster struck again. A month after his birthday, Joseph's parents received a mysterious phone call claiming to have seen Cain in Slateport City. When Alicia and Abraham heard the news they immediately set about to go in search for their son, Joseph wanted to go with them, but he was stricken with pneumonia and travel was impossible. Promising to return quickly with Cain, Joseph's parents left him with the family friend, actuary and Joseph's Godfather, Yargrif Greyhilt.
Joseph waited patiently with Yargrif, for the better part of a week when news came in from Slateport City that an accident occurred on the high seas, and a passenger boat exploded and sank beneath the waves. No one in Dewford said the obvious, but when the wreckage was salvaged and the items: a pair of ruined sunglasses and a slightly melted Knuckle Badge, were returned to Dewford Island the word quickly spread. Alicia and Abraham were dead; and Joseph was an orphan.
Yargrif, already watching over Joseph took custody of him until his parents affairs could be put into order. In a month Yargrif had settled the affairs left by Abraham and Alicia; namely selling of land and items, reporting the death of Alicia to the Pokemon League. Yargrif explained to Joseph that his families assets had been liquidated and the funds had been placed in a trust fund; the amount wasn't disclosed but the money would be made available upon his 18th birthday.
Soon afterwards, Yargrif contacted Joseph's aunt and uncle in the Kanto region; the only ones he could find given the family's wonder lust, and asked if they would take the boy in, as Yargrif himself was unable to care for the boy himself. Within two months of his parents death, Joseph began his life in the Kanto region, in the port city of Wolfington.
Having moved at 10, Joseph lived in Wolfington for the past 7 years. Attending school from Elementary, Middle and High School. Bjor, an owner of the local Poke Mart, put Joseph to work around the mart. Hearing fellow classmates and customers at work and at school Joseph kept a sharp eye out for the famed Professor Wulfric. When Prof. Wulfric arrived at the school, Joseph used what he had learned as a child from watching his mother, to answer the professor's questions.
For the first few months and up to the following year, having suffered a loss of his whole family and the transition between Hoenn and Kanto, Joseph withdrew from socializing with most of his neighbors and family; electing to spend most of his time in the nearby forests and hills to be alone with this thoughts. While there Joseph familiarized himself with the local pokemon and flora. Similar trips to the shore and oceans proved unsuccessful; particularly whenever a boat was in sight. And there were always boats.
After the first year of living in Wolfington, Joseph began exploring the town itself, meeting with his neighbors and spending time with classmates and moving on with his life; but never forgetting his loved ones.
Both Bjor and Ingrid sought to make life comfortable for Joseph, even sending him to Saffron City to talk with a Child Psychologist. Joseph had met his aunt and uncle early in his life and had always seen pictures of them around his home, so living with them worked out well.

Michael will be talking in: Yellow Green. Unless that doesn't contrast with the background enough.
Appearance:
Dirty blonde hair that would be about ear length if it was ever combed, but seems to permanently suffer from horrendous bed head. 5'9" in height. Muscular, but rarely seen without loose fitting clothing with long sleeves or pant legs (as appropriate). Clothing wise, he tends towards blue jeans or grey cargo pants, long sleeved shirts with random words or phrases written on them, in virtually any color. Black belt. No head or face ornaments. Sneakers or hiking boots for footwear (depending on circumstances).

Personality:
Michael distinctly gives off the impression of....not being all there. He rarely follows conversations around him, is prone to babbling on about whatever he feels like, even if there's no apparent reason for it (such as talking about cumulous clouds on a sunny day without a cloud in the sky). Tends to get engrossed in written works, even if they're merely road signs, or class print outs. Does appear to be occaisionally perceptive of people's feelings, but otherwise is extremely poor about communicating about them. Does seem to have an oddly intuitive connection with pokemon.

So Requiem brought up a good point about what we were going to use for character sheets. Personally I recommend the Pokemon TTA ultimate sheet (credit goes to Planswalker and everyone else who contribute to its design). You will need a google account to use it properly. Just make a copy of it (once you are signed in), plop in your character info, then make it viewable by url and done.
