An entire room rises, stools and candlesticks, knives and tablecloths, clocks and heaps of rope, and dozens of other small odds and ends. They all twist with flexibility that belies their structures and move forward with mindless tenacity.

An animated object swarm is created when many mages animate a great many objects and bind them together, or when an intense burst of positive energy rips through a room, animating objects in a moment of random chaos. They begin moving together, crawling and stacking and twining about one another, trampling and crushing those in their path.

Combat
An animated object swarm attacks like the base creatures they are made of, mindlessly following the commands of whoever created them.

Blind (Ex): Those who take damage from the swarm are at the mercy of sheets, ropes, and other such objects which wrap themselves around the opponent’s head, causing that creature to be blinded for as long as they remain within the swarm. Once out of the swarm the being is considered to be simultaneously grappled by 1d6 tiny animated objects and remains blinded until all have been removed.

Distraction (Ex): Any living creature vulnerable to a swarm’s damage that begins its turn with a swarm in its square is nauseated for 1 round; a Fortitude save (DC 16) negates the effect. Spellcasting or concentrating on spells within the area of a swarm requires a Concentration check (DC 20 + spell level). Using skills that involve patience and concentration requires a DC 20 Concentration check.

Trip (Ex): Those within an animated object swarm must succeed on a DC 15 reflex save or fall prone as objects come underfoot or tangle about their opponent's legs. The save DC is Strength-based.

Creating An Animated Object Swarm
An animated object swarm is capable of being produced when 300 or more tiny-sized animated objects are commanded by their makers to act together in tandem.

you should have something about how they have a voracious desire to consume and mate with your writing utensils, cufflinks, and tie clasps.
Kewl though!

And does it have a SPELL for creating it, or do you just cast Animate Object three hundred times?

At minimum caster level, it would actually take 28 castings. You would have to do something weird to create them on your own, given that they will de-animate in a lot less than 28 rounds.

An animated object swarm orgy?
Ah... hrrum.

It's probably more disturbing that the thing has a fetish for wrapping around your head.

"Apprentice?"
"Yes?"
"Get this floor mat off my head before I discorporate you."
"Yes sir."

Well, didn't say it'd be easy to make them. You'd have to be pretty high leveled and if you want it to be permanent, use up a lot of XP.

Basically, yeah, I think a new spell may be in order...
