beholder thats god moding plus Kerr'tak (the city) aint on that plane and acording to D&D cosmology there is planes not planets sand by destroing the mortal plane you would have ripped a hole in reality undoing everything.
Also, as far as I run it when I'm writing stuff, ABR is on a planet, and that planet is in the Material Plane. The other planes have their contemporaries, so the Elemental Plane of Fire might have a planet in Avbaroy's place coated in fire, as with any other planetoids.

Surely your definition of naked does not include trousers.
EDIT: While browsing thru the OotS archives, I found out that trousers were visible on shirtless males. Please forgive my error.
And assuming that the beholders have a few levels in some sort of PC class, as they would have to to be a random encounter for five epic-level kobolds, they would still be a threat to a few kobolds of even 20-ish level. Note that there are three of them...and they all have disintergrate beams and such, and anti-magic eyes, of course...beholders are awesome..
Vampire. epic level is 21st level and beyond plus you get a save against those effects and the mages level itself is higher than the DC.
seriusly how strong do you think the beholders are they was sent to deal with kobolds (wich most people think isn't even a challenge for 1st levelers) oh and think abaut what the mage can summon/transorm into.

I think they're terrific, but is anyone reminded of two little kids arguing over whether the Captain Scoundrel action figure is tougher than the dragon plush toy, and whether Scoundrel has a bilver sword, etc.?

Kev, you totally missed Vamp's point.
in order for the beholders to be a random encounter, they have to be close/same to the kobold's level.Thus, the beholders must have a good chance of defeating the kobolds.
Keveak? Stop godmodding. Don't make the beholder surrender. He will if he wants to. Also, given that they had lots of artillery, I don't think he will.
@ lying two of them was good without magic and the others could just waait till the beholders turn around, iI didn't now there wasn't a saving throw against it.
@Vampire the kobolds thought it was an random encounter that doesn't mean it is, they had no idea it was low level beholders at the moment.
EDIT: @Gremlin^ the only beholder surrendering is the leader of those 3 the rest didn't (and i'm not god-modding those adventures just was there plus what about beholder he have an army ( now we both have but the epic level guys teleported away so...))

Kobolds are small reptiles.
Have you read the draconomicon? Epic kobolds are rare, as most kobolds spend their short lives working in their various mines, trying to emulate the habits of dragons, and the example of the first kobold.
Five epic kobolds do not randomly occur...it's unrealistic.

by the way the adventures just teleported away when you looked at the 1st legion (aka the 2 miles of kobolds who all is above 5th level)

no Vampire I haven't read Draconomnicon since I only have 1 D&D book and they aren't making new ones. but you are speaking about usual kobolds EEEVIL kobolds me and the army is neutral good kobolds from Kerr'tak a city of (normally) peacefull kobolds and gnomes who fled from wars between their races (backstoriffic) we aren't dumb enough to show up before 5th level, and just because a epic level party of kobolds is unusual doesn't mean it don't happens. (oh and checkWotC webside somebody somewhere writes how long kobolds live. they are young adults at the same age as an elf so they aren't short lived. "ghasp" that was a lot.
