"Um, miss?" the waitress said, holding out the change.
Lex reddened. "Sorry, I was miles away," she mumbled, pocketed the coins, and headed for the door. But she didn't step out until the jukebox finished the song and moved on to the next one.
Had it really been ten years since she'd seen Rabbit?
She stepped out into the swirling winter. Moon Called was waiting, having gone out to warm up the car. Lex slid into the passenger seat.
"That took a while," Moon Called said, as she pulled out onto the highway.
"There was this song..." Lex started, and then realized that the song wasn't the important part. "See, back when I was in college, there was this girl. It was intense. I mean, a week after we'd met, I was convinced she was The One. And she felt the same way. It was like a grassfire. I don't think it lasted a month, but during that time, we were everything to each other. And when it ended, I was sure I'd never love again."
Moon Called smiled. "I'm glad you were wrong about that."
Lex reached over and squeezed Moon Called's thigh. "I hope wherever Rabbit is now, she's as happy as I am."

Pssh. So lame - you should know by now that love is nothing.
That was cute, Destro.

Awww...
That's really pretty, Happy. Thanks.
Anyway, yeah. Sorry I haven't been active here, but reading this thread was cutting way to much into my time. I'm a slow reader. Which is a shame, since I like this thread.
Re: Shippingitp IV: Flattery Will Get You EVERYWHERE
Hello. I'm kind of new here but am a big fan of writing short fiction, and have already lurked on this thread quite a bit. <It's oddly... addicting.>
I'm planning a few stories involving some people who gave open permission in the shipping permissions thread but am afraid, since I am new, that I might not write them as they see themselves.
Should I worry about this or just go ahead and write the thing?
<Sorry if this is the wrong place to post this.>
I was planning on using, over the course of the series, the following people.
Spoiler
Raistlin1040
Mordokai
Ghost Warlock
RabbitHoleLost
SMEE
Zarrexaij
... And maybe a few others.
Re: Shippingitp IV: Flattery Will Get You EVERYWHERE
I'd suggest not worrying too much. Just make sure you abide by the rules they posted along with their permission, if any at all. Like Rabbit and Turtle can't be shiped together, romantically. DD can't be shipped with male members, and so on.
Rabbit's been shipped plenty of times as a cute, cudly, friendly person. And we all know she's nothing like that.
I kid Rabbit, please don't hurt me. Nooooo!!! Not the tweezers. *Runs away*

Oooo! SMEE! I heartily approve; SMEE needs to be in more 'ships!
Edit: Yeah, like others have said, so long as you abide by their specific rules there shouldn't be too many problems with characterization and such. Everyone pretty much realizes that it's all of the sake of the story. As for me, personally, feel free to go nuts and do whatever.

Attention. Attention. Now boarding Playground Airlines Flight 00 to Las Vegas. The loudspeaker crackled, sounding out the boarding call for the flight. His flight, he reminded himself, standing and making for the gate. Ghost had been wanting to go to Vegas for a while now, and when the chance came he had taken it without second thoughts. It was only later that he learned his flight would be leaving at Midnight, to land in the morning. hell of a time to fly, he had thought.
Still, he was going to Vegas, and that was something, wasn't it? Ghost wasn't much of a gambler, but the city had more than just casinos. Always plenty to do in Vegas. He thought about this as he went through check in at the gate, standing behind a brunette carrying an absurd number of books. Ghost stared at her bag. She must have had twenty books in there, at least. Who needed that many books? Then it was his turn, and he forgot about her for the moment.
Shortly thereafter, as he made his way to his seat, he was reminded of her again. Mostly because she had the aisle seat, next to his. Hi, she said as he approached. Are you sitting here? Do you mind if I take the window seat? I like to watch takeoff, but I wasn't sure who was supposed to sit here.
No, that's fine. Go ahead. Ghost stowed his bag in the overhead bin and let her move over before sitting down.
Thanks. I'm Curly. She smiled at him and they shook hands. Ghost. He replied.
They fell to talking, after that, about their reasons for going to Vegas and what they hoped to do there. She learned that he was an artist, and was taking some time off between showings to look for inspiration in the sleepless city. He found out that she was an English major, which explained the books at least, and was going to visit friends.
At some point in the flight the flight attendant came by and apologized for something or other. Apparently they hadn't brought enough blankets along for everyone, and were asking people to share. That's ok, Curly said before Ghost could get a word in. We'll share. She smiled at him and put her hand on his. It might even be kinda fun.
Ghost didn't get a whole lot of sleep on that flight. Neither did Curly, for that matter. But as he left the plane, with her number scrawled on a spare bit of paper, he found he didn't care much. The Ghost Warlock stepped out of the terminal into the bright morning sunlight and grinned. Viva Las Vegas.
The title is a Tennis joke. If you still don't get it, look up the scoring system.
Okie dokie, un-snipped for awesome and to do my part in preventing the tragedy of page-over 'ship loss.
I enjoyed this quite a bit, Destro. In addition to being 'shipped with the glorious and sophisticated Ms. Curly, you've also managed to capture some nice true-to-life Ghost minutiae: I'm not much of a gambler, I seek the aisle seat on planes so I can stretch my legs, and the overnight flight would be a 'hell of a [convenient] time to fly' considering I'm nocturnal (work the graveyard shift ). Also, I would totally share a blanket with Curly.
Re: Shippingitp IV: Flattery Will Get You EVERYWHERE
Rabbit's redemption should be coming within the next few hours...with a special surprise guest who has yet to appear in the ship thread. Only because Rabbit has received special permission >=)

Since that ship has sailed, though, I don't really care about it anymore so long as everyone understands that, in RL, I don't drink alcohol. Thanatos5150 and I have remarkably similar views in this regard...
For the record, I do really feel bad about the D-D thing. I had no idea he would find that so offensive or I would never have written it like that.

Ooooh, this implies Ren/'Graf may be in an episode of Falling soon. Excellent...

Hey Rabbit, I was going to start my first fanfic with you as one of the characters, but I couldn't think of who to use as the second character, so I would like to ask you who you would like to be the second character. (Take into account that the two characters will be romantically involved by the end of the fanfic)

Rabbit's pretty happy being shipped with anyone but me (because I roleplay her sister) and Fanboy (because he roleplays her brother in law). I think Raistlin and Destro are her favourite loves.

This is highly accurate.
:: goes back to typing like mad::
Edit: I remember a time when people would have jumped and said Randman. Fanon tends to change over time, doesn't it? =P
Re: Shippingitp IV: Flattery Will Get You EVERYWHERE
Hmmmmmmmm, that puts me in a pickle, I don't really know much about Raistlin or Destro (As characters anyway).

Whoaaa... I forgot that time even existed.
In other news... I still need someone to make a cameo appearance. A musical one.
@V: I meant that as an adjective, not the genre. Is that still okay?

That's all that's coming to mind.
Someone quite intelligent in a very philosophical way, but fits the jazz archetype, i.e. you could picture them with shades on, regardless of the setting, and with a low, scratchy voice, etc. Gotta be the jazz archetype.
TBW it is, then.
@V: Well, too late. I hope you don't mind being portrayed incorrectly.

Well... I don't know if that really is me though. I'm not a musician at all. When you said musical number I thought it was going to be prancing and singing in the streets.
Any of Rabbit's suggestions would be a better fit, I think.

Quite likely. I'm trying to keep Flora and 'Curly' out of Definition drabble (bar one cameo) although Heknik will have to appear considering her . . . involvement with a plot which is getting ridiculously long now. Twenty one episodes now. Including today.
And now, good sirs and ladies of the thread I present you with what has come before in:
She woke to a warm fire and warmer voices, "She’ll be okay now Mordokai." A sigh was heard before the person stood up and walked away. She didn’t know anything, she reached for where things should be, but a deep bout of uncontrollable shivering hit her as the icy memories rushed back in a torrent, stripping her of the warmth she’d drawn comfort from.
She sat up screaming the name of her lost sister to two women. The dryad leant forwards and drew her into a hug, "It’s okay to cry." So she did. The other smiled happily, wickedly, unnoticed.
Yeah, that's a word.
And all things proceeding correctly this will be the last time those particular two get involved.
