Yes we do. But that doesn't mean I agree with them completely.
Now, I don't think we should all go naked outside, but the first reaction a person should have to see a person or the drawing of one naked, in my opinion, is not "Argh, my eyes !"
I'm also against the taboo that says you shouldn't eat insects. It's a healthy, even better source of nutrition than "normal" meats !
Now let's talk about something else, the thread's already derived too far.
Are all loose ends except the Alphantican-Tajiran War finished ?

its common knowledge the original greek olympics were done totally naked. still, this is like 3000 years* in the future. We don't do that anymore.

I agree, just because some old weirdoes walked nude around don't mean we should.
@Mad: You can't change that taboo and when you get into puberty you'll understand better (read the comic I linked to it explains it pretty well) and eating insects while indeed provide many proteins also involves a lot of risks for diseases.

No offence to Dan Shive, but I don't think he's managed to properly summarise the reasons behind the nudity taboo that has been prevalent in the past few centuries, but was far less distinct prior to then.

Apart from the lower temperatures in non-equatorial regions, why not?

As both an outspoken hypocrite, I'm against a lot of taboos. Cannibalism is one, bug eating and nudity are others. Of course, I'm a vegetarian living in a country notorious for poor weather conditions.

Only around as much risk as eating any other food.

I've got a couple dangling, but I should be able to tie them up easily. I could even canonify Squark's last comic when I do so, if he agrees. It wouldn't be Ins though.

Yes, but we do have this thing, this season, called "Summer". An annual time of the year where the weather gets really hot. This takes place from June to late Augest, if I remember correctly. Currently it is "Summer" in Canada.
And no, just for the record, we do not live if Igloos.

You Don't? You mean Canada is not a perpetual winter wasteland where people ride dogsleds to work and go yeti hunting on the weekends?
...This is an entierly new concept for me.

1. I don't see what so great about that statue. 2. It still summarise why most people are against nudity now, we are too used to clothes. 3. People bathe nude in the midst of winter over here (weirdoes). 4. Because most people and almost all religions get offended if you show public nudity on international sports channels. . 5. I personally is against cannibalism because (among other reasons) it too easily results in murder, I think bugs are disgusting and clothes are warm and fun 6. my parents aren't even dead yet while the ancient greeks entire civilization is, I like clothes and not wearing them would just add to my problems. 7. Cows don't live in poop, a lot of insects do.
@Mad: What other stuff are there to be finished before FI?

It's famous. And as Wikipedia puts it, it is "shorthand for culture".

Not really. Any mature individual knows that nudity ≠ sex. Besides, we're nude at other times. You take off your clothes to bathe, and that's not considered offensive.

Cold can be refreshing, although the sudden shock of immersion in very cold water can prove to be fatal.

I've seen total nudity on public television before, in the middle of the day, in the UK. And that show didn't get in any trouble, and is still on the air. I don't watch it, because I have better things to do. Like sit around on a forum all day.

How does cannibalism beget murder? It's not like human meat would be addictive. Besides, even if it was, with soylent green was on the shelves, you wouldn't need to kill anyone for your next "fix".

If you're competing in a strenuous sporting event, you might see the appeal of not wearing heavy or limiting clothing.

You've obviously not spent much time at a farm. Cows excrete something like 30kg of crap a day, and a lot of insects don't go anywhere near crap, particularly the juicy sort of bug.

It's hardly surprising that he decided to make it a horror. Despite it apparently being based on the life of Charles Dodgson. Who didn't do drugs, despite what the earlier discussion may have had you believe. If anything other than his own imagination contributed to Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, it was his occasional migraine hallucinations.

No, I decided against going with that.
I do have a bit of a problem though.
By blocking MM's avatar, I can't see his comics, which I use as a reference, so how do I allow it back in?

I didn't say he did drugs. I was just saying MM is making a movie, but, doing my reading on the Wiki, it looks like he was pretty weird. I think it was his imagination and nightmares.
What about him and the Jack the Ripper stuff?
I think it's a sack of crap, personally.

We might never know the truth about Jack the Ripper.
